Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Would this hold the impact 5 in 1 reflector?

A: No, the Impact Swivel Umbrella Adapter would not be able to support the Impact 5-in-1 Collapsible Reflector. If you are looking for a reflector holder for your usage needs, I would instead recommend the Impact Telescopic Collapsible Reflector Holder, B&H # IMLDHT, or the Godox Boom Arm with Reflector Holder, B&H # GOLSA16, for your usage needs.

Q: 2. Will it work with a Canon full frame and my ef 100mm macro?

A: Not without a 58mm to 52mm step down adapter ring. And you may need to get an extension tube to get the image to cover the whole sensor. It has a 52mm thread which fits Canon's 50mm macro lens but the 100mm has a 58mm filter thread. It does work really well on Canon's 50mm macro with a 25mm extension tube. I'm getting great results.

Q: 3. What else do I need to use the Nikon ES-1 with a Sony A7ii camera? I do have a light source.

A: You will need Nikkor 55mm f/2.8 Micro-Nikkor lens and PK-13 Extension Tube and Nikon to Sony lens adapter

Q: 4. Is this accessory strong enough to hold a 7' impact umbrella and the Bowens 500 Gemini mono light?

A: Yes, this Impact Swivel Umbrella Adapter can hold a 7' Impact Umbrella and a Bowens Gemini 500 monolight.

Q: 5. Hello! I had pretty fair results using the ES-1 with my old Micro Nikkor 40mm 2.8 G in DX to copy slides...But now I have a Sony a7c full frame... Is there a way to still use the ES-1? with the Sony a7c? Maybe an FE 50 macro & adapter ring?? Maybe a Nikon G to Sony FE adaptor and use the old DX Nikkor/ES-1? but then I'm back to APS-C? Does anyone have a winning combo for ES-1 to A7c? Or a reasonably priced way to digitize slides?

A: The biggest problem is that you cannot move the ES1 forwards and backwards to account for the minimum focusing distance of different lenses and also to account for changes in angle of view. It requires a ton of DIY with different lenses and close up filters to make it work with different lenses. To digitize slides at a reasonable price I would recommend using a macro lens and placing the slides on a light box such as this one and taking the photo of the slide either hand holding the camera or on a tripod. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1325594-REG/kaiser_202453_slimlite_plano_5000k_battery.html

Q: 6. Will this work with Nikon D7100, Nikkor 18-140mm lens, extension tube, and reverse ring adaptor? Same for 28mm f/2.8 AIs lens?

A: With enough extension between the camera and lens, or a lens reversed, I understand almost any lens can function as a macro lens. The issue one will have with this adapter and at least the longer lens you note, is that the tube goes between the lens and the slide for the right focus. This tube has to be much longer for a lens longer than 55 or 60 mm, and longer still when the 1.5 crop of the DX format is considered. I am using the set-up described by Wayne Fulton (google scantips) and bought a separate extension tube on Amazon, shipped from HK (to add more distance between lens and slide). I believe also macro lenses in general are recommended for this sort of thing because at short focus distances they are sharp across an entire flat field. If I were to do it again with my DX camera and many slides to scan, I think I would buy this slide copier plus Nikon's 40 mm DX macro lens. See the excellent description by Wayne Fulton, google scantips.

Q: 7. I have a canon eos xs rebel and an ef-s 55-250mm lens . I’m wondering if this slide copying adapter will work with my camera? If it can is there anything I need to buy to make it work? I read it can work with other brands besides Nikon.

A: It was designed to be used with a Nikon full frame and a 60mm macro. It was not designed to be used with the camera or lens you have.

Q: 8. I have an AF-S Nikkor 18-55 mm lens with a 52mm filter on a Nikon D5100. Can you tell me what accessories I will need to mount the ES-1 to my lens/camera? Thank you.

A: Well, since the lens this accessory is designed to work with is the 55mm f2.8 macro, which has a 52mm filter size, the accessory should thread directly to the lens. However that 18-55 lens is not a macro lens, and you would therefore probably have to use extension tubes behind the lens (what size/depth I don't know) to get anything close to the 1:1 (or perhaps 1:2 on APS-C) magnification ratio needed for slide reproduction.

Q: 9. How can I use the ES-1 with a Nikon 105mm macro lens?

A: I use a 105mm lens. I fashioned an extension tube to link the ES-1 to the lens at the correct focal distance by rolling a simple sheet of cardboard into a tube of about 5 inches length, taping it closed, and taping the ES-1 to one end. I then then mounted the other end of the assembly to the lens (using tape). The rest is simple: I put a slide in the ES-1, pointed it at a natural light source (outside window), and took a picture.

Q: 10. I would like to use the ES-1 on a Nikon D800. What would be the best micro lens to use? Would I need adaptors also?

A: Officially the 55mm macro and extension tube were the correct items to use with this adapter, but the 60mm macro will also work without a tube.

[0.375" / 10 mm] I bought this to use with my ThinkTank StreetWalker camera bag which has D-rings on the sternum straps. It works well with D7100+70-20mm/2.8+TC2.0 attached on my bag. It's less expensive than ThinkTank's solution. Yes, it needs Uni-Loops.

[0.375" / 10 mm] I bought this to match with another Op/Tech system connectors with the intention of attaching only one strap from my camera to my Lowepro S&F Vest Harness. Works like a charm, now I never have my neck strap in the way, it doesn't put any stress on my neck either.

[Polypropylene] This is the third one that I have purchased. They add a ton of versatility to setting up LED lighting fixtures and other gear.

[Flat] 5 stars for a simple to use product. I have these attached to the D rings on my backpack straps. I use an Op/TECH neck strap with detachable quick disconnect Pro Loops. I attach the Pro Loops to the end of these connectors which holds the camera to the backpack. Works GREAT! Op/TECH makes well built products.

[Swivel Hook] Don't be fooled by poor photo of this product - there ARE clip connectors on the other ends from the shown hook fasteners. I didn't expect to actually use these much but they were so inexpensive I bought them anyway with a larger order. They are actually an excellent addition to my system and I use them with my backpack when I want my camera ready while hiking. It's the best solution for that case. Recommend.

[Swivel Hook] I ordered this to connect to my OP/TECH Pro strap to make it longer, more versatile. Works great, could be pretty long, which is the whole purpose anyway. Comes with dog-collar type of clip, easy to remove if needed, but don't get me wrong, it takes some effort to take out from the loop. And of course, you'll need to order the utility loop to be able to connect to your camera.
