A: YES - For viewing or photographing the sun, you want a solar filter - not a Neutral Density filter. Light has many wavelengths and the ability of a filter to block each wavelength varies. Just because you can block visible light, does not mean you are blocking UV wavelengths that can burn your eye, or IR wavelengths that can introduce heat. You might be blocking visible light fully, but have 1000 times more UV and IR light reaching your sensor - or your eye. It is very dangerouse to use a neutral density filter instead of a solar filter for solar viewing - even through the viewfinder. BUT, if you have a mirrorless camera and will not use any kind of optical viewfinder, you may be able to get away with some filters that would otherwise damage your eyes.

A: This is designed for the Lee Filter 150 System and the Mark II version which has a Lightguard in the II system that did not exist in the I version. I have the Mark II Holder sand have no problems with this filter used in it. Mixing and matching mfrs is not always a good idea.

Q: 7. Would these work on a camera that has been converted for infrared? Mine passes visible light above 590 nm and near infrared light. I do not want to block infrared light any more than visible light.

A: You would need to ask the company that did the IR conversion specifically but Kolari Vision (for example) makes their own IR ND filter so these filters should be fine too.
