[Lithium-Ion] I have been able to get away with one battery for my daily shooting, but I noticed that I was bending over backward to save the battery during the shoot, and it was getting in the way of my shooting process. So, this extra battery will free me up to do what I need to take pictures without thinking about conserving my battery for the day. So far, it's a great purchase to get the freedom I need for my shooting. 5

[6] The life of these new batteries is so good that, to be honest, I could get away without a spare on the vast majority of shooting days. But having an extra in my bag saves me from any chance of power anxiety. I hesitate to say impossible, but I would think that it would be incredibly unlikely that you'd ever need more than 1 spare for your M11 to get through the day. 5

[6] Great battery with relatively long life for the M11 series. I recommend though having at least two spares if you're traveling or photographing in cold weather (which drains batteries.) Better safe than sorry. Thanks B&H for the fabulous service and quick shipping, as always! 5

[6] You just can't have the Sine Wave Invertor without a back up. Each battery gives you about 200 photographs at full blast on a 500 WS light. That's enough for one set up, so make sure you have another battery to power you through another one. Takes a few hours to recharge, so be sure to charge up overnight before your shoot! 5

[6] I suppose MAYBE you could use a 3rd party battery, but I've never really done so. On several outings, I've taken loads of photos, and the this battery has never failed or run short. Ridiculous price, though. 5
