Q: 1. How noisy its motors are while autofocusing? I've purchased Z 20mm 1.8S and it has pretty noticeable noise which can be clearly heard on video recordings. I'm researching if I had better to purchase the zoom instead if its autofocus is on the same low level of noise as Z 24-70 2.8S.

A: From our in-store testing, we are unable to perceive any focusing noises from the Nikon Z 14-24mm f/2.8 S during photo or video AF-S and AF-C modes.

Q: 2. can I use this lens for Nikon D500 DX camera?

Q: 10. How is it for city light starbursts? I'm looking for a wide lens for city lights. I really love voigtlander starbursts but I see they are limited so far with the Z Mount.

A: The Nikon NIKKOR Z 14-24mm f/2.8 S Lens may be used for city light starbursts if you use a small aperture on the lens (i.e., f/11, f/16, or f/22). As the lens has nine (9) aperture blades and lenses with an odd number of aperture blades create twice as many starbursts, this lens would produce 18-point starbursts.

[0.05 lb] Since this lens first came out I have wanted it in my kit. After finally getting it I have put it through the paces. The 14-30 f4 Z is a great lens especially for the prices but the 14-24 f2.8 is a step above. The edge to edge sharpness is superior. As you would expect though the sharpness does drop off slightly at 14mm. Overall this is a professional quality lens and more compact than I had consider making it easy to travel and hike with.

[0.05 lb] I love this lens and will avoid the pile-on of listing all of the reasons that other reviewers have already detailed far better than I could. I would like to add a point that I have not seen listed - the included hood that has threads to hold 112mm filters is not up to par for Nikon. It is plastic and deflects enough during normal handling so that my filters were falling out (even when screwed in snuggly). I experimented and a gentle push with my thumbs on the glass filters would pop them right out. My first theory was that the threads on 3rd party filters (K&F, NISI) werent deep enough, but I disproved that. I bought the NISI replacement hood and it is metal, well built, and up to the job. No more filter fall-out. Disappointing that Nikon charges a steep price for this awesome lens and then misses the mark on a cheapo hood.

[0.05 lb] I have only used the Z-mount version of this lens for a short while, but I really love it so far. For many years I owned the F-mount version of this lens in AF-S Nikkor 14-24mm f/2.8 and really liked it for landscape and architectural photography. In my short experience this Z-mount version really surpasses the previous lens in contrast, sharpness and color rendering (especially the blues). I also like that it is a reasonably light lens which makes it easy to carry during hikes and long photo outings. The only drawback might be that it uses 112mm filters - I chose a B+W UV/HAZE and really think it complements the performance of the lens. For me, its a keeper.

[0.05 lb] I thought that I could save a few bucks by going with the 14-30mm Z lens, but the multiple distortions were a real problem for the interiors that I shoot. Way too much time (and frame edges) was lost in fixing every shot. So in switching, getting an extra f/stop is nice, but not the biggest reason for making this switch. While the 14-24mm f/2.8 is not a real rectilinear lens, it has better control of distortion and has greater edge to edge sharpness. That and other benefits explains why the 14-24mm is basically twice the price. If you're on the fence trying to decide which wide angle zoom you will ultimately buy, and you are a serious interior and landscapes photographer, don't waste your time just to save a few bucks.

[0.05 lb] I was looking at getting this lens for a while. B&H Used had one on sales being advertised as 10/10 Like New. I purchased it. The lens arrived in original box and with all pertinent documents inside. It was brand spankin' new... Thank you B&H! The lens itself is a dynamite. Crazy sharp, lightweight, fast. The front lens hood with filter (also bought on B&H Nisi 112mm UV) attached does get to be quite large, but it's the nature of the beast with a 2.8 lens.

[0.05 lb] I had the non Z version of this lens and despite being much heaver, I found there was quite a bit of distortion. The Z version is much cleaner edge to edge. Very happy with this lens purchase.
