The successor to the esteemed UCR411a, the Lectrosonics DCR822 Dual-Channel Wireless Receiver 941-959MHzis a compact, dual-channel digital wireless receiver that offers twice the channels in the same physical size. It offers a host of versatile, field-proven features for use in portable bag systems and on sound carts. The receiver is compatible with mono transmitters from the D-Squared line (DBu, DHu, DPR) and is also capable of decoding signals from the company's stereo transmitters like the DCHT and M2R. The unit is backward-compatible with Digital Hybrid wireless transmitters.

The DCR822 features Vector Diversity technology (an advanced type of True Diversity), two front ends per audio channels, a wide 18 MHz frequency band, 24-bit/48 kHz resolution, and a rugged machined aluminum housing to withstand the rigors of field production. It is ideal for mobile production sound, sports video, reality TV, and anywhere a wireless system must provide mission-critical RF reliability and audio quality, despite the challenges of shrinking spectrum and high noise floor.

A bright OLED screen and a user-friendly interface with intuitive selection buttons help make the DCR822 easy to see and operate on set. Setup is easy with the onboard RF spectrum analyzer and SmartTune functions that quickly find a clean, interference-free operation frequency. Settings are sent from the receiver to the transmitter via IR, at the press of a button. The AES 256-CTR encryption with four types of key policies ensures your transmissions are safe from prying ears.

Two TA3M audio output jacks can be independently configured as mic-/line-level analog outputs or as two-channel AES3 digital outputs. A variety of output cables are available separately, each to accommodate your mixer's type of inputs.

Providing another helpful addition, the onboard SDHC recorder is capable of recording .WAV (BWF) files while the transmitter is sending wireless signal, making it a truly useful backup option.

The DCR822 operates up to 6 hours on four AA batteries. The unit can also be powered using the DCR12/A5U universal DC power supply (available separately). Removable AMJ jointed antennas, a micro-SD card, and a zippered case are also supplied.

The DCR822’s Vector Diversity subsystem smoothly and continuously combines RF signals from two receiver front ends per channel, with differing phase angles in order to obtain maximum energy. Not only does this method deliver clean, artifact-free performance in all modes, it is actually able to take two signals compromised by multipath interference and reassemble them into a usable signal.

The two RF gain stages (per audio channel) in the front end provide low-noise RF amplification, excellent sensitivity, and extremely low susceptibility to intermodulation and de-sensitization.

The DCR822 has one of the highest Third-Order (IP3) Performance of +15 dBm, comparing this with +5 to +8 dBm provided by typical audio RF transmitters. High IP3 performance allows the DCR822 to better eliminate the negative impact caused by third-order intermodulation artifacts, have better signal-to-noise ratio, and also perform greater reliability in today's congested RF spectrum.

With a noise floor at -120 dBV and a frequency response up to 20 kHz, high-frequency noise in the source audio is more apparent than in conventional wireless systems. The SmartNR algorithm has three modes. When OFF, no noise reduction is performed. When NORMAL is selected, enough noise reduction is applied to remove most of the hiss from the mic preamp and some of the hiss from lavaliere microphones. When FULL is selected, enough noise reduction is applied to remove most of the hiss from nearly any signal source of reasonable quality, assuming levels are set correctly at the transmitter.

A major problem facing wireless users is finding clear operating frequencies, especially in RF saturated environments. SmartTune solves this problem by automatically scanning all the frequencies available in the unit, and tuning to the frequency with the lowest RF interference, significantly reducing setup time.

The DCR822 can record received audio on a microSD card, in the industry-standard .wav (BWF) file format, at 24-bit/48 kHz for compatibility with any audio or video editing software. Recording can be done simultaneously with audio output from the receivers. You can record up to 46 hours on a 32GB card.

The DCR822 offers compatibility with the D-Squared and Duet digital transmitters, including the DBu, DHu, DPr, DCHT, and M2T. There is backward compatibility with any Digital Hybrid wireless transmitters including the SM and SMWB series, WM, HM Series, MM400 Series, HHSeries, LT, LMb, UM400 Series, and SSM.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Whats included in the box?

A: In the box is the receiver, a wall mounted power supply, and 2 antennas. The bottom plate, which is selected according to the way it will be used, must be ordered separately. For example, for a Panasonic camera you need to order an SRSUPER plate. Please see the Lectrosonics website for a list of available bottom plates.

Q: 2. Is the audio quality 16 bit 48khz or 16bit 41.1hz?

A: The Godox MoveLink II does not offer built-in recording, so there is no digital recording taking place in the system itself. The quality of your recording will depend on the specs of the recording device you use with this system.

Q: 3. If both transmitters are in use, are their signals separate in the receiver?

A: The Godox MoveLink II M2 Compact 2-Person Wireless Microphone System has a two-channel receiver that can be set for mono or stereo output when using both transmitters. In mono mode, the audio from both transmitters is combined so you hear them both mixed together on the left and right channels (same audio on both sides). In stereo mode, the audio from the transmitters will be separated, so you will hear the audio from one transmitter on the left channel and the audio from the other transmitter on the right channel.

Q: 4. Is this compatible with the first generation of Godox MoveLink TX 2.4G Wireless Microphone Receiver?

A: The Godox MoveLink II Clip-On Wireless Microphone Transmitter is designed for MoveLink II Wireless Systems only, and Godox has not stated that it is compatible with the first generation of receivers.

Q: 5. What type of batteries does the receiver and transmitter use?

A: This is a slot in receiver which means it will not connect to a battery directly. Instead it will feed off the camera power/battery or through other slot systems. If you don't already have a slot-in system, this is most likely not the right system to suit your needs.

Q: 6. is there a way to D-dap this?

A: We do not offer a D-Tap accessory for this device. [18 MHz] This is not my first SRc. It's my 7th (4 in one bag, 3 in the other), as I keep adding channels to my inventory. With plenty of transmitters on hand, I needed to add two extra receiver channels to my secondary sound package. I'm all-in on Lectrosonics and the A1 block for talent wireless.

I use the SRc with SMDWB and SMWB transmitters.

Menu navigation is intuitive. Build quality is top-notch. The SREXT back plate is easy to install for immediate integration into a bagged sound package.

There's been plenty of chatter about signal range with the SRc not quite being up to snuff as compared to the lauded 411a, but both my sound packages have antenna distribution with PSC RF Multi and Betso Bowties, and I have no issues with signal range.

Even with the newer all-digital systems hitting the market (822, DSQD), there's still plenty of life in digital hybrid.

[18 MHz] I do production sound for a varity of different types of projects from feature films, to 1 day commercial shoots. I use these in the field everyday. They are low energy consumption and I typically only have to change batteries twice in a 10-14 hour day. (I power them down during lunch and any time we have a long set up.) I have never experiences any rf cutting like on the 100 series or other brands of lavs. 9.8 out of 10!!!

[Receiver Module] I bought the SRC as my first dual receiver having used the SRB a few times beforehand.

The long and short of this thing is that it’s a workhorse that is accurate in its scanning and compatibility with devices is fantastic.
The one downside to this thing is that it still has the trouble with Walkie-talkies if they are used too close to it. So be aware of your proximity to two-way radios.
I can’t recommend this product enough. Truly the best tech Lectrosonics has to offer.

I use this in an ENG bag for reality tv and it helps with cutting the weight down from the old 411a receivers. Also the versatility of the bottom plate adapters lets you use it in a camera slot, a rack mount, or for firmware updates. A must buy.

[Digital UHF ] It is getting to be harder to find 2 or 4 clear channels depending on where you are. The all band receiver saves me a lot of time searching for clear channels across all 3 bands. The second channel works like the URX-P03D while making the Transmitter programming much easier.

[True Diversity] I was using a G4 and needed some more mics. There are a lot of options out there but these just work. I wanted something with good range and no dropout issues. I got these for one thing and now I use them for everything. They are crystal clear. I started using them at church also and there is no issue even with everyone on wireless devices. It is my first Lectrosonics system but definitely not my last.

[Digital UHF ] Made this my official first Lectro Receiver!
Right out the gate, out of all Lectro interfaces i've interacted with this is one of the nicest ones I've used! Just having the buttons alone makes it a breeze instead of having to push into the usual press-in controls that we're used to on previous Lectro devices. The menu is fantastic and versatile as well! As far as I have been able to use it in the field it seems to get me pretty dang good results as far as distance and quality goes (paired with the DBu and DBSMD). Not to mention the option to record onto the receiver! As soon as I got to use this I was in a situation where I had to attach it to a camera since no one else but camera was allowed in the building following an NFL player. Worked like a charm.

[Receiver Module] While everyone is going with the Sennheiser, I decided to go for the Sony due to its price and dual channel capability.

The connectivity is quick with each transmitter, and you can pretty much set it and forget it for all your future shoots. The signal and sound quality is also superb. I used it for many professional sound jobs. With good lavs and mic techniques, you won't need to spend thousands on a good wireless system.
