The Tokina 180mm T1.9 Cinema Vista Prime Lens with an EF mount and focus scales marked in feet provides an image circle that more than covers full-frame sensors and is designed to provide sharp images even when recording images at 8K resolution. This is a 180mm focal length lens, and it shares the same form factor, lens gear position, focus rotation, and front barrel diameter as the other Tokina Cinema Vista prime lenses. This makes on-set lens changes a fast and efficient operation. It features a maximum T-stop of 1.9, useful when shooting in low-light situations or when you want to capture that exceedingly shallow depth-of-field look.

The 9-bladed iris provides round out-of-focus highlights for a natural-looking bokeh. The lens is designed to minimize focus breathing, and it features geared manual focus and iris rings. Markings on both sides of the lens barrel make it readable from either side of the camera.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this have a front thread? Is so what size?

A: This has a 105mm filter thread.

Q: 2. weight pls?

A: The Tokina 25-75mm T2.9 Lens (PL Mount) weighs 2kg.

Q: 3. Do you have experience using this specific lens with the Epic Helium 8K??

A: It is our understanding that with the RED 8K this lens will cover the sensor with possible slight vignetting in the corners.

Q: 4. I need the PL mount kit for my Tokina ATX 50-135 (2017 version... not the last one). Do you have it? Thanks

A: At the moment we only have the mount kit for the new version of the lenses.

Q: 5. All these lenses can be used with the red cameras? and the blackmagic cameras?

A: This is an EF mount lens. As long as the camera has an EF mount, it will work. With RED cameras you need to select an EF mount and with Blackmagic you will need to make sure the camera has an EF mount. So that we may best assist you finding the proper product for your needs feel free to email us directly at askbh@bhphoto.com.

Q: 6. this lens can covered super 35 sensor without vigen image?

A: The Tokina 35mm T1.5 Cinema Vista Prime Lens (PL Mount, Feet) supports up to full frame sensors. It would not vignette when using Super 35 sensors.

Q: 7. which one is better, this lens or Rokinon Xeen 16mm T2.6?

A: The Canon would be considered the overall superior lens. But the Rokinon Xeen lenses are terrific glass for the money that would perform admirably in most projects for most filmmakers.

Q: 8. No image stabilzation?

A: You are correct, no image stabilization for the CN-E 14mm T3.1 L F Cinema Prime Lens (EF Mount). Virtually all Cinema lenses do not have image stabilization. Ironically, pro grade equipment generally lags way behind what consumer equipment can do. Mostly it is because there is no need for many of the consumer advances, or there are answers for the problem in say using a dolly, a Steadicam or simply a good camera operator. IS would be expensive to implement and at this time, I am sure the powers that be do not feel the need for it.

Q: 9. I'm looking to change my EF mount to a PL mount. Is there any specific documentation I can find on the necessary changes in terms of distance? Or should I just not mess with the shims and change the mount only?

A: This will all depend on the camera you are using as flange-focal distance can vary among camera types. There should be documentation that will help guide you included.

Q: 10. Will this cover red dsmc2 8k sensor?

A: The Tokina 25-75mm T2.9 Lens has a 36mm image circle. Any RED sensor that is less than or equal to 36mm will be covered.

[T1.9] This is a really well constructed lens. It feels like it's worth every penny. The optics are crystal clear, no distortion of any kind that I can detect. The giant focus ring turns and turns - very nice for pulling focus. On the downside, at longer distances with the aperature wide open, the depth of field is razor thin, and the focus ring has increasingly less travel between steps at further distances. I realize this is physics, but I was personally surprised by how touchy focus is at 40-50' in lower light situations.

[9] I needed something longer than my 55 but shorter than my 85 so this is just right for me. Amazing wide open but I recommend a large production monitor to stay on top of the focus, DoF this shallow is gorgeous but you can't take your eye off it for a second.

[Canon EF] This is my prime go-to lens on my Canon C-300. On the set of my short film, Jupiter's Legacy, my DP and I came back to this lens again and again. Coupled with the C-300's low light capabilities, the 1.5 allowed me to shoot primarily in lovely candlelight and torchlight. We successfully lit one scene with a single 15 watt Christmas Tree bulb. This lens is tack sharp and has great contrast. I love it. The first AC loved working with the smooth focus mechanism.

[T1.9] Think Canon cinema lenses are hype? Think again. This lens is a game changer. I have the 50mm L series f1.2 and this lens blows it away in sharpness, accuracy of focus and several other areas. Best purchase I've made for a while.

[1:7.91] I am in production now, using this lens and it's amazing, solid, sharp, yet naturally soft. I'm using it with the EOS C300 Mark II so in combination with the camera, it produces such a beautiful aesthetic straight out of the box. The lens is so well crafted. No breathing at all. It has a great weight to it. My first Canon Cine Prime Lens purchase and thus far, am totally satisfied. I will definitely be investing in more. The 35mm is a great choice for a first purchase as you can use this prime for so many applications. You could shoot an entire feature with just a 35mm if need be. I don't scoff at the price either. Artist's tools do cost. I'm a firm believer that you truly do get what you pay for.

[T22] When I moved over into the Canon Cinema camera line, due to costs, I decided to go with the Rokinon cinema lenses. Initially, I thought they worked great and it was a definite upgrade from my previous setup. However after shooting with these lenses I can't even believe the difference. The color and clarity are unmatched – I even rented other lenses to compare (Zeiss, Xeen) and IMHO these Canon lenses blew them all away. They make skin tones just come to life and are sharp but not overly harsh. Worth every penny!
