The 49mm Hoya Alpha II Protector Filter 49mmfrom Hoya Alpha II Protector Filter 49mmhas a slimmer frame and better glass than the predecessor version. It also features six layers of coating for optimal image quality. (The previous version was called alpha UV filter because it also offered UV protection.)

Allowing 93.7% light transmission, the alpha II Protector Filter is a solid multi-purpose filter that can be left on the lens at all times for protection. Leaving out premium features like UV protection, optical glass, and a hardened, waterproof top layer, the alpha II Protector Filter is designed as an entry-level protective filter for those starting out in photography.

[Aluminum] These work great! I used to have them for my NIKON F and was glad they still make them. Now theyre coated and the threads seem tighter. Inexpensive alternative to close up lens. 5

[Aluminum] I've been using the Hoya R72 filter for years and have always been happy with the results. It renders wonderful infrared images for both false color and B&W, capable of mimicking 850nm images if shot and edited correctly 5

[Glass] This filter gives a beautiful rounded haze and foggy atmosphere to your photos. I've found it is most effective in brighter conditions as the softening will make sharp images feely a bit blurred At the 77mm size, I'm able to use on multiple lenses and stack with other filters as well to make for some unique stylistic shots. It may not be an everyday application, but it comes through wonderfully for it's desired intention. 5

[Glass] I have used Hoya cp filters for over 50 years and have never had a problem. I still have some of the original ones from 50 years ago. There is some vignetting but that is due to the thickness of the filter. I shoot loose so I can crop out any vignetting or photoshop the corners if I can't crop. 5

[Clear] When shooting infrared with this filter on my GRIII, you can still view and compose image on the LCD screen! Most cameras screens go totally black. 5

[Aluminum] This cuts more than the Uv model - and is very good for the price. I live by the sea and also shoot a lot of window displays so a Polarizer is fairly essential. I've used Hoya filters for 30 years on multiple cameras, and they are a quality filter. 5
