Designed to create ambient illumination, the 400W Vari-Space LED Series 2 Light from Mole-Richardson 400W Vari-Space LED Series 2 Lightutilizes two proprietary 200W LEDs. It has a variable color temperature ranging from 2700 to 6500K and a generous CRI of 95+ for color accuracy. This upgraded model now features green and magenta correction, factory and user presets, dual user interface for local control, and a 2.8" LCD touchscreen plus a twist/push selector. For maximum flexibility it supports 4-channel DMX control (hardwired or via LumenRadio), RDM, upgradeable firmware, and Bluetooth connectivity via an app for iOS.

This fixture has an overall 2.4 x 2.5' size and an IP30 rating for durability. Its aluminum sheet metal construction features a textured black and red powder coat epoxy finish. Included are a universal 90-250 VAC power supply and a detachable 20' powerCON TRUE1 cable. The cooling system is forced air and the fan speed is controlled by temperature.

Designed to hang overhead from its hanging cable assembly, the light accepts additional accessories including optional skirts and silks to expand its lighting possibilities. When hung with silk skirts and targets, it becomes an ambient fill light for soft baseline illumination. You can mount it an optional yoke mount to set it up as a Skypanel for lighting backdrops evenly from side to side.

A: The light quality is still soft, but due to the length there more coverage.

Q: 3. How does this light not flood to spot? Every mole richardson fresnel they have ever made flooded to spot. Product fail.

A: It's not a fresnel, it's the equivalent of a par can. It's well built, color tuneable, dimmable and 900 dollars. Its the equivalent of a 650 watt tungsten fixture. Considering it's back ordered, I would have to say that this product is actually a big hit.

Q: 4. What are the photometrics of the light? How many foot candles at 6', or 15' at 3200 and 5600?

A: Unfortunately, Mole-Richardson only lists photometrics for the 200W Varimole LED fixture at 10 feet (3 meters). At 3200K, the unit outputs 55 FC (539 Lux) at 10 feet (3 meters), and at 5600K, the unit outputs 67 FC (717 Lux) at 10 feet (3 meters). They do not list measurements at 6 feet or 15 feet.

Q: 5. Mole-Richardson, I didn't see photometrics on this model on your website. Could you please provide some? How many footcandles at 10 feet, so I could compare this to some other models, apples-to-apples?

Q: 6. Is this okay with a 600D Pro?

A: Yes. The following unit is compatible with all Bowens light mount systems.

Q: 7. Any idea what the equivalent output is? They don't say how bright these are?

A: Hello, yes it's about the equivalent to a 1000 watt tungsten, but without the heat. You can run it all day and it stays cool and only draws a few amps. Maybe 2 or 3 amps, very little. Amazing light. I have the entire set of daylights and couldn't be more pleased. I use them for stills and motion. I am waiting on the 5K which will be out in August. I love the fact that you can dim them as well, very useful.

Q: 8. Is the length of the space light adjustable? If so what is the minimum length?

A: This light is not adjustable.

Q: 9. How long is the upper part, that is, the part above the wide section that has the screw lock? I'm looking for something that will allow my Matthews Hollywood arm to sit on my Manfrotto light stands more securely (i.e., sit on a stud long enough to use the whole length of the mounting hole in the Hollywood arm. B&H # MAHWHA40B. The other studs I've tried won't allow the hole in the arm to go fully down onto the mounting stud on the light stand.

A: Yes, the Aputure Space Light Diffuser for Nova P600c LED Panel (33") also works with the Aputure Nova P300c light panels.

[Yes] Purchased to adapt a baby 5/8 light stand head to accept a Mole-Richardson junior Model 412 Fresnel spotlight. Using it in reverse of what I believe the intended purpose was but on a sturdy stand, the weight is supported quite well. 5

[Proprietary] I love my old Mole Richardson with its smooth flood and spot through the classic fresnel lens. Now I can use it with a low-heat, low electrical draw LED at 5K color temp. The only negative is a very slight humming sound from the ReLamp itself. It is so low that I decided to keep it and use it anyway. As long as its not closer than 5 feet from a mic, I believe it will be fine. Now I can do Hollywood Lighting! 5

[Fan] Ive used Arri panels on set and now I see litepanels everywhere, and yes you of obviously going to get more with those other brands, especially in the build quality. But for these lights being the 999$ they are nuts. I would say you could do 70-80% of what a 2x1 litepnale could do, but for 1/5 of the cost. They are super bright. I liked these so much I bought 2 more. 5

[2700 to 6500K] Very easy to install, took less than 5 minutes. Just as bright as standard 2k bulbs, but only drawing a couple amps. My only regret is not having more housings for more of these. 5
