The GH6 reaches its full potential when combined with an array of monitors, larger batteries, lens hoods, etc. This cage enables you to attach pounds and pounds of optional gear, far more than you would otherwise be able to use with your GH6 (available separately). These attach via the 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 threading, the NATO rail skeleton, and the cold shoe mount.

The Arca-Swiss quick release plate holds your rig firmly in place when you need it but doesn't cause a delay when you need to swap camera supports. A dual anti-twist locking method, including a built-in magnetic camera key, keeps your lens pointed straight downrange.

The raised upper bar of the full camera cage is engineered to enable access to the GH6 controls for maximum productivity.

[0.595 lb] A professional camera is a significant investment. This cage doubles as protection, accessory mount, and - in my case - features a handle that serves as the mounting point, whether horizontally or vertically. I hang the camera from this handle using a cardellini clamp. I have one clamp for its horizontal talking head position, and another where the camera hangs for a top-down view. Regardless of circumstance, the cage and handle enable safe use of the camera, always. 5

[0.595 lb] I bought this for my GH6. It now holds my GH7. As I stated in another review, my only complaint about SmallRig is no instructions; not even a diagram, but It's not too hard to figure out. When I have nothing else mounted to the cage there are slots for a couple PD Anchor Connectors so I can carry on a PD camera strap. There are plenty of mounting locations for miscellaneous hardware. The two downsides I've found are: The cage covers the drive dial, but you can still easily turn the dial. If I'm in photography mode and want to mount the camera in portrait mode on a tripod, I need to mount an ARCA-Swiss plate to the left side of the cage. 5

[Cage] The usual solid build we come to expect from Zacuto. Camera mounts without any wiggle and the hand strap, mounting points, z-rails, rosette mount and built-in arca-swiss compatible bottom plate are a plus. 5

[0.595 lb] I do a lot of shoots for social media/YouTube content and this cage has been great to work with, I also got the grip handles that attach to it and it's really comfortable to shoot free hand with. Only downside, I wish it had a top handle rather than having to buy it separately, not the end of the world though! 5

[0.595 lb] After dealing with disappointment from how much the SmallRig Black Mamba cage flexed, I knew I needed a more robust cage for my GH6. Through my research, I’ve found this to be the GH6 cage with the most points of contact on the camera body (two M2.5 screws on both side strap loops, and a 1/4” 20 on the base). Construction is sturdy, as it’s made of thick machined pieces. The top of the cage is essentially a 1/4” 20 cheese plate, and offers a NATO rail for top handle mounting. I’ve tested this cage with the LUMIX DMW-XLR1 while mounting a Zacuto top handle, and it’s a narrow fit, but I can confirm the cage is compatible. The left side also features a NATO rail, ARRI rosette, and a 3/8” 16 with locating pins, but there’s no mounting coverage on the right side, which is kept open to allow handheld operation on the camera body. I would have preferred to have the right side enclosed too, so a side grip could be mounted, but that’s a small issue. Front-to-back oriented Arca plate on the bottom of the cage is much better for tripod configurations and works perfectly with Zacuto’s ACT baseplate. Hands down the best cage for this camera. 5

[0.595 lb] This is the best cage for gh6 in my opinion but also the most expensive cheese grater style out there. But it makes my handler camera shooting a breeze with multiple attachments. The base plate is a bit awkward with the small rig rod attachments but it's fixed with a few more accessories. The side strap is strong and classy. I bought the top handle too which is another engineering marvel. This has certainly increased my versatility on long shoots and instant grip change with the Zacuto handle handling like a nunchaku. Great ergonomics but I wish the cage came with extra screws. Mine fell out and it was a pain replacing it. Anyways. Great job guys! This review is after two years of owning it. 5
