The 3-stop, 62mm Hoya ProND EX ND Filter 62mm 3-Stopfrom Hoya ProND EX ND Filter 62mm 3-Stopreduces the amount of light passing through the lens. When shooting video outdoors, you can set shutter speeds to match your frame rate while maintaining the depth-of-field you want. When shooting moving objects, you can achieve a motion blur that makes the image look more cinematic. For photography applications, the filter lets you use longer exposures or achieve a shallow depth-of-field in bright sunlight.

The ProND EX ND filter uses Hoya's ACCU-ND technology to prevent color shift in order to deliver consistent image quality. ACCU-ND ensures an equal reduction of light in both visible and IR spectrums so that you don't experience color shift when shooting in different outdoor conditions. The filter features 62mm threading on both the front and rear sides. Additional ND filters can be stacked on the front, or you can attach a threaded lens cap or other filter.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this filter fit the Nikon 500mm f/4 insert?

A: It does not. You will need B&H # NICPL405 which is the filter specifically designed for the drop in on that lens. https://bhpho.to/2X7oHNp

Q: 2. Is it normal for a circular polarizer to have movement once attached to the lens?

A: Define movement. It screws on and that should be tight (no movement). The filter itself turns to orient the angle of the polarization (as opposed to a non circular polarizing filter which only really works when shooting in landscape mode)

Q: 3. Is the .3 stop light loss number in the specifications accurate?

A: I suspect that there is some semantics involved. However, I find the in my terms the factor is 1.3. By this I mean for example: holding the shutter speed constant, I get a reading of f9 without the filter, with the filter on and adjusted for maximum effect it will require a aperture of f5.6 for an equivalent exposure. I was mislead by the point three as well, but it is still better than the 2.5 or a bit more that conventional filters of this type yield.Hope this helps.

Q: 4. Will my ET-83D "Lens Hood" fit over this 77mm filter? I will use a Canon EF 100x400 IS II USM zoom lens. Thanks

A: Yes the Canon ET-83D Lens Hood will fit over the Hoya 77mm NXT Circular Polarizer Filter, and the hood features.a side window for adjustment of a rotating polarizing filter.

Q: 5. hello! could this fit and work on the G Master 70 200mm? Thanks!

A: Yes, the Hoya 77mm NXT Circular Polarizer Filter will fit and work on the Sony FE 70-200mm f/2.8 GM OSS Lens.

Q: 6. Will this filter work with the Sensei step-up ring? 62mm-67mm to be precise.

A: I haven't tried it but I imagine it would.

Q: 7. Does this filter work on the Sony RX 10 iii?

A: Yes it will.

Q: 8. What is the difference between the NXT and the NXT PLUS filter?

A: The plus it multicoated to reduce ghosting and flares and it has top knurling to provide a more textured grip when mounting or removing it from a lens.

Q: 9. I do NOT want a slim profile filter. I am only interested in a 67mm CP filter. Is this a slim profile filter? thanks

A: The Hoya 67mm NXT Plus Circular Polarizer Filter is not a wide filter. It is a thin frame filter. This one is considered more of a standard frame, BH #BWCPB67 (https://bhpho.to/3WTjKsY).

Q: 10. will this fit the Canon 17-55mm f/2.8 lens?

A: yes

[0.135 lb] The Hoya Pro ND EX 8 is an exceptional three stop ND filter. I could not be happier. It has perfect color and clarity with zero warm color shift. I use mine primarily for soft water work. This is not a low-profile filter so keep that in mind if you use ultra-wide lenses. For low profile go with the Hoya HD MK II IR ND line.

[Aluminum] I got this for the solar eclipse earlier this year, and at that time it was unreturnable. I suppose that is because some people try to use this just that one day and try to return it. In any case, I figured that I would get my money's worth out of it and have been using it to take photos of sunspots and very very bright light sources. I can now take detailed macros of LED emitters, lightbulbs, and things like that. This works very well, and I got a bunch of step up rings so that I could use it on all my other lenses.

[Multi Coated] This filter worked perfectly and allowed me to capture the 2024 solar eclipse with a timelapse. I took a photo every minute and 15 seconds to capture all of the phases. I used it on a 70-200mm with a 2x teleconverter. The images are neutral/white in color but I bumped the white balance in post to make the sun appear orange.

[Glass] I purchased this filter and step-up ring for the solar eclipse. Both worked perfected! I hope view more amazing scenes in the future with my Canon thanks to this filter.

[Multi Coated] I bought this because shooting log mode on a Canon R6 means a native ISO of 800 and this will be enough to shoot at that for a cloudy day or in the shade at f/5.6. I haven't used it for stills yet so I can't comment on the image quality aspect of it; for video, I did not notice any degradation.

[Solid ND] Relly a versitile filter. Mainly the motion needed for good water movement is the 6x. For me anyway. A Big Stopper at 10x is just too much for good water movement .....for most of what I shoot.

[Multi Coated] Not much else to say... I've used this filter twice for the two recent eclipses in Texas (2023 and 2024) and worked just fine.

[Multi Coated] I have so many of these and I'm not going to write yet another detailed review. I love Hoy filters and I use them whenever one of them meets my needs.
