Audio professionals looking for a compact and portable reference monitor will be impressed with the Yamaha MS101-4, a compact full-range monitor speaker for use in professional mobile, project, or home studios. The speaker features a 4" full-range driver powered by an integrated 30W Class-D amplifier. Inputs include a combo XLR-1/4" mic/line connector on the front panel, while the rear provides a 3.5mm TRS and a 1/4" TRS line inputs. A 1/4" output is available for connecting to an additional monitor or other compatible devices.

The front panel also includes a power switch and controls for volume and low and high EQ. The MS101-4 comes with a 3/8-16 threaded female mount for direct attachment to a Euro microphone stand, and optional accessories can also be added for use in a wide range of applications. A: Yes, I use these monitors connected to my LED TV. You will need the right cable to connect: RCA on one end and 1/4 on the other. I prefer real studio monitors like this for connecting to my TV over home theater speakers.

A: This product listing is for a single monitor.

Q: 5. Can a 2nd speaker be connected for stereo?

A: Not directly, no. You can add a second MS101-4 Powered Monitor to allow for a stereo setup, but the second monitor can't receive the corresponding signal via the first MS101-4. If you are sending the left channel to the first one, you can only send the same channel to a second speaker via the line-out XLR port. You will still need to wire the second speaker to the main device you are using to send a stereo signal to the speakers.

[Vertical] As expected, Yamaha hit it out of the park with this monitor. Deep rich sound. Controls for tone and volume are smooth old fashioned knobs located on the front panel. Sound and ergonomics are top drawer. Recommended. 5

[115 dB] I am using it as a portable monitor for director or for others that in control for live corporate event, quality is acceptable for the price. It's 5 star for me for corporate, but I would rather to use more pro monitor for music 5

[77 Hz to 20 kHz] There is a reason you see these in almost any studio you walk into. I've had mine for 13yrs and just ordered this replacement due to someone knocking over my speaker smh. 5

[-10 dBu] For mixing these are hard to beat. Clean. Every vocal. Every nuance. Every instrument. If it's clean on these speakers it will be great on whatever folks are listening on...even the non-discerning. And if you want to rock out with them, you can equalize and turn the volume up. Can't imagine a better set of speakers for a small room mix. 5

[Black] For the price these are the best small near field monitors in terms of easy translation to general hifi systems etc. They don't require much practice to nail the mix and have good bass response that's not too boomy for a ported cabinet. My preferred monitors are the original NS10 and Unity Audio The Rock MkII but both require substantial practice and I still love these just as a general work horse. 5
