The SPL Performer s1200 Stereo Amplifier, in silver, is a fully analog amplifier designed to control virtually any loudspeaker. It offers a power amplification of 2 x 520W (4 ohms) and 2 x 300W (8 ohms). Using VOLTAiR technology, the Performer s1200 delivers detail-rich and vivid performance. The amp features a stereo pair of XLR and RCA inputs.

The Performer s1200 has a protection circuit against DC voltage and overheating. If DC is detected, the output stage switches off automatically and an indicator LED lights up red.

Q: 1. it makes sense to add onto the question I had last night about the Yamaha amplifier. What you need to know is you sell the Samsung TV J5500 in 40 inch. I got the 32 inch and it has the sound choices which are driving me nuts. I got it quickly knowing the Sony 40 inch was too large for the space in the entertainment center. So you can look at what is on the back of that TV and see the outputs which would go to the amplifier and from the amp to the B & O speakers. My question again: what do I use for the TV to the amplifier connection and then the amplifier to the speakers?? I do not understand banana plugs and there is no place on the amplifier for loose end speaker wires. Thank you!!

A: The receiver offers binding posts that allows for bare wired speaker cables to be wrapped around the terminal posts for the speaker inputs:1. Connecting speaker cables:2. Remove approximately 10 mm (3/8 in) of insulation from the end of each speaker cable.3. Twist the bare wires of the cable firmly together.4. Unscrew the knob.5. Insert one bare wire into the hole in the side of each terminal. Tighten the knob to secure the wire. Q: 2. Does the loudness control affect the headphone output as well as the speaker output?

A: Yes. The volume control knob is used to adjust the speaker output volume, and simultaneously adjusts the headphone output volume.

Q: 3. I am looking at the Yamaha amplifier AS 30l to upgrade my old system. I have Bang & O Danish speakers with free wires at the end of each cable. I see no place for free wires on this amplifier or the Yamaha AS500. It looks like I need the RCA Male Stereo Audio cable end pieces. If this is correct, would you let me know please. All of this is for a 32 inch Smart TV which is the largest size which will fit the space. The picture is great, but the sound options are driving my audiophile ears crazy. I do see a way to get the TV audio into the amplifier and that is by the digital audio output (optical), but no such place appears on the Yamaha AS500. There is a single audio output hole on the back of the TV, but that is beyond my ancient experience. I dont see an audio input on the amplifier of one hole. Am I wrong?My laptop enlarged image of the back of the amplifier leaves a lot to be desired. You will be happy to know that there is no problem with my Sony CD/DVD player which was purchased from you. I will also use my B & O turntable and be able to play my vinyl records again. Q: 4. I have an older Bose surround sound speaker system, 4 speakers, a tweeter, and a bass. Will this system work with this eq.?

A: The Yamaha A-S301 is a stereo amplifier for powering speakers and does not function as a standalone EQ.

Q: 6. This amp, like the S501 and the S701, shows the tone controls at Bass (20 Hz) and Treble (20kHz), +/- 10 db. What does this mean? Most people can't hear anything at 20 or 20k hz anyway. Thanks

A: The +/- treble and bass controls on the Yamaha A-S301 receiver gives you control over the level of the bass and treble roll off so that you can increase the bass for enhanced bass response or decrease it if you feel the bass coming out of your particular speakers might be too strong and it would be the same for the treble.

Q: 7. How sensitive is the remote volume control at lower levels? My Denon PMA-600NE jumps too much from the lowest settings.

A: The loudness control will provide up to -30dB of attenuation of the Yamaha A-S301 Stereo Integrated Amplifier (Black), BH # YAAS301BL. If the volume is too low, turn down the volume, set the LOUDNESS control to the FLAT position, and then adjust the VOLUME again. The volume control functions in measured steps, either from the remote control or the volume control knob on the body of the receiver.

A: This is a stereo amplifier (2 channel only) So with two speakers connected it will sound the same or slightly better than the SONY with just two speakers connected. it will not offer you any simulated surround effect as the SONY might.

Q: 10. how do i hook up a subwoofer to this amp, there is no sub-out?

A: The A1200SL is more meant for Music Audio Enthusiasts who are connecting to Higher end Audiophile Grade speakers. It is common among most Higher End Integrated Amplifiers to not include a Subwoofer connection. The Denon PMA-A110 for instance also does not provide a Subwoofer out.

I had debated buying it for several months and now that I have my only regret is that it took me that long to pull the trigger. Most highly recommended! 5

[2] I had been testing in my 2-channel system Yamaha and Denon integrated amps, as well as an older Marantz AV receiver I had on hand, and was not fully satisfied with the music reproduction playing a variety of genres on CD from classical to jazz to folk to pop/rock. After researching and reading for many hours I decided to try the Audiolab 6000A and was delighted to see B&H's excellent sale price on the black model. The amp has very nice build quality, and more importantly to me it has elevated my Q Acoustics 3050 towers to another level of sound quality. Great soundstage, neutral tonality top to bottom, instruments sound real with the space and ambience of the recording reproduced, cymbals are delicate and detailed, bass notes are powerful when called upon and always under control, the midrange is very pure with no hint of coloration. I feel like the Audiolab has provided a taste of the high end for a budget price. 5

[3x Fan] I tested the Rotel Tribute combo(amp&CD) vs Audiolab 6000 (amp&CD) combo. No doubt the Audiolab wins in terms of sound, I don't know all the fancy words to use in this comparison but in my simple language explanation its like this. The Audiolab sound is thicker fuller darker and most of all it has a 3D like feeling to the sound, by the Rotel it seams like the sound is flat on the wall in front of me, by the Audiolab the sound is away from the wall there is air between the instrument and the wall, so its more real experience. The bass is interesting because by the Rotel I can hear a bigger bass, but its nice in the beginning, later I felt its blocking some sound of the other instruments, in other words, its not as balanced the bass with the other sounds. By Audiolab the bass is not sticking out from the rest and I think its more tighter. so its either because the bass is not so boomy or because all the other sounds are punching out same strong as the bass. Anyway, its more pleasing to listen to because of that. from the other hand the Rotel has also a very special sound very detailed, another benefit it has tone controls(and a general sound booster), you can adjust the bass and the treble which makes it very convenient and takes away the problem mentioned above because u can boost the treble and or lower the bass. Still it doesn't give the 3D sound as the Audiolab. one more pro to the Audiolab CDT, you can make fast fwd the song by pressing long the go to next song button, you can NOT do it by the Rotel CD player, only with the Remote controller(very embarrassing). From the other hand a con to the Audiolab CDT, when you press the pause button, if you leave it more than a few minutes it goes back to beginning of the CD (I didn't find any setting to change that - very embarrassing). 5

[20 Kilohms ] I'm so glad I got this effective and beautiful piece of gear. The best sound I have ever experienced over headphones... ever. No noise while turning any of the pots whatsoever. I've had it for a little over a month now so it's fully 'burned in'. The crossfeed matrix is effective but not overly aggressive. Love being able to trim the center image down. If you want the best, here it is. Word of Warning: If you are a 'Gamer', listen to dudstep, watch my little pony, or use dr. beats headphones, this is not for you. It will scare, confuse, and intimidate you. 5

[> 290] This replaced my 18 year old Cambridge Audio pre-amp/amp setup. Spent time debating between pre-amp/amp vs integrated amp and then this vs Marantz PM8006. Finally settled with this due to features and price point. I use this mainly to listen to Vinyl collection but now also have my old Cambridge Audio CD connected to Optical and love the DAC on this amp. Phono amp is outstanding and sound quality is just amazing. Bluetooth is also helpful for streaming from your smart phone. I have old pioneer Elite Tape deck connected and this has got live back into the old tapes. Only negative is that this in not Made in UK or Europe but is made in China but build quality is solid. 5
