  • 13 microphone emulations of classic microphone models
  • Back-electret design provides transparent, balanced sound, and accurate transient responses
  • Cardioid polar pattern suitable for a wide variety of recording scenarios
  • Frequency response of 20 Hz to 20 kHz covers the audible spectrum
  • Signal-to-noise ratio of 69 dB
  • Pad attenuation switch (-10 and -20 dB) improves close-miking of loud sources, ensuring a clean signal without distortion.
  • Maximum sound pressure level of 146 dB
  • High-pass filter switch (75 and 115 Hz) eliminates low-frequency rumble and compensates for proximity effect
  • Metal housing and black-matte finish provides style and endurance
  • Includes shockmount holder to eliminate unwanted vibrations and provide easy positioning
  • 48 VDC Phantom Power required

  • The Edge Note takes on the character of some of the finest small-diaphragm mics in existence, delivering stunning detail and realism.
  • A total of 13 mic emulations reproduce the sound of legendary microphones used in the best recordings from the last century. They can be used in real time with an Antelope interface (via Synergy Core processing).
  • If the user doesn't have an Antelope interface, a native plug-in emulation is available for any DAW and the microphone emulations can be easily applied to the dry audio recording. (iLok 2 or 3 required to use emulations as native plugins within your DAW)

  • The flat frequency response of the Edge Note provides an exceptionally clean signal. Capturing the smallest detail of an acoustic guitar or a graceful cello becomes an easy task.
  • Capturing audio in the most neutral way without dramatically boosting frequencies across the spectrum ensures that when applied, the mic emulations will sound as close as possible to the original microphone being emulated.

  • With an astonishing SPL of 146 dB, the Edge Note is an excellent choice for recording the loudest sources. Get the most out of a drummer’s performance or a blasting trumpet solo without clipping the converter.
  • For particularly demanding scenarios, the attenuation pad can reduce the level with -10 or -20 dB. Additionally, the high-pass filter facilitates the handling of the low-end frequencies and negative aspects of the proximity effect.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this mice support phantom power? Can I connect the mice to my ZOOM H4n audio recorder? It has to xlr outlets.

A: The Rode NT2-A does require phantom power to operate. It can be connected to a recorder like the Zoom H4n which offers XLR inputs and phantom power.

Q: 2. I am updating my Samson MTR 231, what differences should I expect between both mics, please?

A: In comparison, the Sennheiser is the more feature rich. 3 step low cut filter and 3 step pad. You are also getting more selectable pickup patterns. These allow you to more precisely tailor the mics performance to a specific application. Comparatively the mic are similar in self noise, however the Sennheiser offers better specs in dynamic range as well as signal to noise ratio. Regarding frequency response, the Sennheiser is relatively flat, with the Samson featuring a slight boost in the higher frequencies. This will generally be interpreted as the Sennheiser having a warmer sound.

Q: 3. how does this microphone sounds with stringed instruments?

A: The Shure MOTIV MV51 features a 1 diaphragm which is able to capure acoustic instruments well. When used with the free ShurePlus MOTIV Mobile Recording App, you have access to DSP settings as well as EQ and compression settings that enable you to optimize your record settings for different applications.

Q: 4. Would you recommend this microphone over the AT2050? I have the AT2050, but I want a better overall mic, I am also planning on getting a better preamp or to get a mixer instead.

A: The AT2050 is a fine microphone but I'll give RODE the edge here. 10 year warranty too!

Q: 5. Could this mic be used in it's Figure 8 pattern along with a Senn 416 for M+S recording?

A: Yes absolutely.

Q: 6. Is this the best mic for recording a quartet or small choir or group of instrumentalists where the microphone will be 5 to 10 feet way from the performers?

A: This is an excellent microphone for the price and well suited for your stated application.

Q: 7. Is the SMR shockmount better?

A: The new SMR offers a new, more advanced design that is easier to set-up and use and will offer superior performance in many applications over the SM6 included in this kit..

Q: 8. Does the omni capsule come included in the box or is that sold separately?

A: The RODE NT5 Cardioid Studio Condenser Microphone includes a cardioid capsule only. The RODE NT45-O Omnidirectional Replacement Capsule for Rode Microphones (B&H # RONT45O) is available separately.

Q: 9. Connected with XLR jack? Have a cable if so how long?

A: This mic uses an XLR cable which is not included.

Q: 10. Is a table stand compatible for this for studio use?

A: A table stand will work. A studio arm is recommended for better positioning: Auray TT-ISO Isolating Desktop Microphone Stand B&H # AUTTISO

[0.6 lb] I bought mine with an attractive rebate since I could not return it, and never had issues since I use it with Antelope’s discrete 4. The quality is superb or at least VERY surficient, and the emulations have dope variety of sound, many creative options to explore, it’s really one of the best choices ik terms of emulations mics ( double membrane) gives a rich result. I couldn’t be happier, I’m set for years to come
