The Impact Luxbanx Extra Small Softbox 12x16"from Impact Luxbanx Extra Small Softbox 12x16"is an economical 12 x 16" light shaping tool for strobes that's ideal for portraits, fashion and products. It's small enough for tabletop shooting or for use as a hairlight and great for adding fill light, especially with an optional grid. The softbox features a soft white interior, removable front diffuser and removable inner baffle. The diffuser and baffle can be used together for maximum softening of the output. Removing the inner baffle will give you a more crisp light quality with higher contrast, while shedding the front and inner diffusers turns the Luxbanx into a large reflector with maximum brightness and contrast.

The versatile Luxbanx has an additional control via an optional fabric grid which mounts to the recessed lip of the softbox with touch-fasteners. The grid narrows and concentrates the light's beam forward, controlling spill and adding directional control to the Luxbanx's attributes. Every Luxbanx comes with a carrying case and a spare Flex Rod. Separate purchase of a speed ring that matches your strobe's mount is required for use. Impact makes models to fit most popular brands.

Q: 3. How does this compare with Aputure's Light Dome II, which is much more expensive?

A: The Light Dome II is 34" this is 18". This softbox does not have a gel holder or include a speed ring. You will need to assemble this softbox rod by rod where the Light Dome II is on a umbrella shaft.

Q: 4. The 18 inch model says "Compatible with Hot Lights up to 500W". So my Arri 650W would burn these?

A: The Arri 650w would exceed the safe heat rating it would be unsafe.

A: you can use the softbox and rods. you'll need a bowens type speedring and the Godox S type adapter for Bowens

[White] If your looking to carve out cheeks on a headshot, this little softbox centered directly above the subject with a small reflector below(clamshell light) is the ticket. Mine came with agris as well. I use it all the time. 5

[Yes, Removable] I use this with a Canon 580EX flash. It is small but putting it close to subject gives a nice soft light. Also can be used for back light and certainly easy enough to hand hold. 5

[250 W] Really well made and compact octa box. It comes in a carry case. Pretty simple to put together, and very strong and rigid when assembled, but be aware, this item does not come with a speedring! I believe it tells you that, but you need to get one otherwise it's useless. I bought the impact bowens speedring for about $45, no problems what so ever. It does take some muscle power to assemble. My advice it to make an X pattern which will make a square then make another X and the octa box forms, it's very rigid and well made. Performs well. 5

[Yes] I purchased this softbox to complement my Amaran 60x for run-n-gun scenarios and doc work. Besides needing a compact modifier for the above reasons, the 60x is a small light with a plastic Bowens mount, so I was concerned about durability (and weight) using a larger softbox; this one works like a charm for my intended purpose. It's not the fastest to set up since it uses rods but the build quality is good and it comes with both inner and outer reflectors in a thick nylon zipper carrying bag. The only thing I don't love, which is my own fault for not realizing, is that it does not come with a Bowens speed ring, so you'll need to purchase that separately for ~$45. That puts it a little on the pricier side for what you're getting imo, but it performs as expected and breaks down into a very compact package. 5
