A: It won't tip over. The base is very solid!

Q: 4. what is the diameter of the bottom fitting? What is the diameter of the extension tube?

A: It's a 1-1/2 extension tube and fits over a 1-1/2 speaker stand tube. Most speaker stands have a 1-3/8 or 1-1/2 pole (flip the pole to change sizes).

A: I have a Yamaha MG16 in it, which is 10U, and there is a little space above and below the mixer. The 1640i manual says that it is 12U. I would imagine that it would fit, but it would probably take up the entire top rack.

A: The manufacturer has not specified a maximum weight capacity, but when I asked they did confirm that the stand is intended for use with lighter weight microphones and recommend keeping the load below 2 lbs.

[0.57 lb] Purchased to hold an Pioneer XDJ-1000. Works perfectly. It's wider and easier to set up than a Cranestand. It's heavy, so not sure I would want to carry this around for lighter laptop duty, but for my purposes, it works extremely well. Highly recommended. 5

I've built many and consider myself handy but the results are always short term. They feel homemade and when they are displaying expensive equipment, it seems just off. These stands look professional and are designed in away to accommodate many different sizes of gear but for me and probably more importantly, it hides some of the cabling which is a huge plus for me. I ended up buying 3 of these and it cleaned up my workspace tremendously. 5

[0.57 lb] Wish I had found this some years ago. I use it to hold synthesizers (Waldorf Pulse 2, Novation Bass-Station II) behind my sampler (Akai MPC). Seems like it would have 100 uses/configurations. If I were actually using it for a laptop, it would be awesome for that too. Very sturdy and solid. You will love this thing! 5
