The 37mm Kolari Vision UV/IR Cut Hot Mirror Filter 37mmfrom Kolari Vision UV/IR Cut Hot Mirror Filter 37mmis designed to normalize your camera when it has either a full spectrum or two-spectrum modification. In either case, it allows light to pass normally to the sensor, so you can shoot normal photos. The filter is designed with coated glass optics and an aluminum filter ring threaded on both sides. (The optional pro version has a knurled brass ring.)

The filter can only be used with a modified camera. A spectrum-modified camera is one in which the camera's native low-pass filter was removed in order to support certain IR filters for IR photography. If you have such a camera, this hot mirror filter will let you take normal photos without having to make any changes to the spectrum modification. The filter blocks IR light and some UV light, the same way the native low-pass filter that was removed from the camera during modification would have. The filter requires no exposure compensation.

A: According to Tiffen Technical Support: We would recommend the Wide Angle filters, especially if you are shooting on a full frame sensor camera.

[0.07 lb] Filter really makes a bold difference in astro imaging. Noting that the lens sun hood doesn't fit over the knurled edge of the filter. I can live with it since a sun hood is rarely needed at night... if I were to use this filter for artistic reasons during the day I might have another thought

[Glass] I've been using the Kolari Vision IR Chrome Lens Filter on my IR full spectrum modified Sony a7iii with the 24mm G-Master lens. In order to achieve the vibrant red foliage colors with realistic blue skies and other colors, it is critical to have the correct custom white balance. At least with the Sony this required some experimentation as the usual gray card setting makes green foliage more orange than red (see photo), and this is very hard to correct in Lightroom. With my Sony, getting vibrant red foliage pushed the hues of other colors off a bit. Your experience may differ as I'm betting it's a function of the color algorithms in the specific camera being used. I did find that desaturating all color channels except blue can be any easy way to get b&w IR images with nice blue skies (see photo). Like all filters, plan to play with it a while to see how it affects your images under various circumstances.

[Glass] OK if you are not sure if you will use it don't buy it. But if you have a full spectrum camera, this is one of your filters in your IR, UV filter set. Color IR is not for every one but it can be a blast if you find a way to understand what this filter can do for you.

[Aluminum] This cuts down IR pollution really well. It causes no color shift, especially when you're ND stacking on your lens. It's a tad bit pricey, but it's well worth the money.

[37 mm] Shoot aerochrome with you converted full spectrum digital camera. Works like a charm, just set your white balance and trees turn red but keeps the sky blue. No need to sit in front of your computer to swap channels.
Ensure that your lenses do not create hotspots. Some lenses can create spots in the centre of images.
