Its two arms allow up to 31.5" of horizontal reach, plenty to put the mic right where you need it. The 512-BBA's steel construction provides stability while supporting a studio or broadcast mic weighing up to 3 lb (including a clip/mount).

Since the 512-BBA is compatible with 5/8"-27 and 3/8"-16 threads, it works with most mic clips and shockmounts. Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Regarding the 48" Boom Arm. Is each section or arm 48" long or is that the total length?

A: The total length of the MBA48 boom arm is 48".

Q: 2. Can I use two K&M 21105 counterweights on the same boom arm? Is there a hole at both ends to allow for this?

A: yes. I am using 2 on one arm. and there is another trick. if your arms are just a bit thick, you can pop out the plastic liner. I like these, it's hard to find good counterweights these days.

Q: 3. How long is each arm?

A: About 19 inches.

Q: 4. What is the max mic weight this can handle?

A: This product has a 5 lb. maximum weight capacity.

Q: 5. Can this be used to mount a small camera? What's the weight capacity of this arm?

A: The arm would be used with microphones less than 2 lbs in weight. Be aware that the threading is 5/8"-27. Use this adapter: WindTech M19 5/8"-27 Female to 1/4"-20 Male Adapter BH #WIM8219: https://bhpho.to/2w6kEs5

Q: 6. Will c-clamp fit 4 cm thick table?

A: The c-clamp will fit a 4cm thick table.

Q: 7. How does the quality of this compare to the Rode PSA1?

A: The quality of this studio boom arm would be similar to the Rode PSA1 Studio Boom Arm for Broadcast Microphones, BH #ROPSA1, but it has a shorter reach of 28-inches fully extended.

Q: 8. What is the diameter of the pin that slots into the clamping base?

A: The manufacturer has not specified diameter of the stem that fits into the C-clamp base for the 512 AUDIO 512-BBA Microphone Boom Arm.

Q: 9. Is it possible to mount/suspend this arm from above?

A: The MBA38 is not intended to suspend from above. It does come with two types of mounts -- a clamp style mount and permanent flange mount. The stem for the arm inserts into the mount from the top. You could attach the clamp mount to a shelf and then position the arm so the mic comes downward, but the arm can not be mounted upside down.

Q: 10. Can I/How would I change the threaded portion to 1/4"-20?

A: You can use a thread adapter like the CAMVATE 5/8" Female to 1/4"-20 Male Mic Stand Adapter (B&H # CAC0988) to convert the post to attach an item that requires a 1/4"-20 thread.

Got this Boom Arm bundled with my ElectroVoice RE-20 mic. I was a bit skeptic the boom arm would hold the heavy RE-20. Upon inspection I realized all the critical parts are metal. I clamped it to my hefty recovered wood desk from behind. Been using it for a while now and it's going strong. Granted, I don't move the RE-20 much but it has no wobble and it looks great on camera for my video work conferences. Folks have made specific comments specifically on the arm. I really like it!

I put together phone holder for a friend who was using Da Vinci Eye with an iPhone 8 Plus. This boom was on sale for a good price and combined with an 1/4-20 tripod adapter and Jelly Fish phone holder for tripods made a very solid platform. Wasn't the cheapest but certainly was not flimsy.

The 512 AUDIO 512-BBA Microphone Boom Arm is a solid Mic boom arm that can handle a pretty heavy Microphone at a good price.
It will definitely do the job for me.

I used this desk stand for my Samsung Q9u which is on the heavier side for a mic. It worked perfectly and it was easy to set up (I'm new to podcasting). It moves silently, smoothly and stays firmly in place; it's just perfect!

Great, solid materials were used to build this unit. The construction is perfect for what you would expect from a flexible mic boom arm. It stays in place where you position it and it easily supports most of the microphones out there that you see used by YouTubers or singers. Personally, I have the Yeti Blue with the shock mount secured to it and even though it's not the most lightweight mic out there I have yet to experience a single issue. This is a must-have if you're doing daily recordings and need to often adjust the position of your mic!

I picked this mic up one sale a couple months ago along with a Vocaster One interface, I love it! For the price, can't beat it. Now, if you're running it on a cheap or underpowered interface, it's not going to be a fun time. But on any decent interface, this thing will do just fine. I recommend a pop filter and shock mount as well, it's perfect with those additions. Also, B&H is always clutch with that shipping time and product support.

I bought this for recording acoustic guitar in a small space. I can't fit a lot of mic stands in that space. I was using a kick drum or guitar amp mic stand stacked on a stock pot to get the proper height, and that was no good. Extra annoying when I couldn't sit in my regular playing posture because there's stuff where my legs normally go.

This desk mounted mic arm works great for my needs! It feels sturdy, it moves easily enough, and most importantly to me, it sets up and tears down quickly.

Here is an alternative to the SM7B. Sounds as good if not better for a fraction of the competitors priced mic. Some of the video reviews I've watched are from non-professional users who no nothing about professional microphones. If you're a pro announcer...you'll love the sound of this when mounted on an overhead boom.
