The Impact Luxbanx Duo 39" Octagonal Softboxis a versatile 39" diameter light shaping tool with a textured silver interior for high output, removable front diffuser and a removable interior baffle. It's compatible with strobe lights, fluorescent, or LED light sources. It's also compatible with hot lights up to 1000W. When using it with hot lights remove the interior baffle. The Duo Octa's shape renders a signature quality of soft wrap-around light due to its large surface area and creates round, natural catchlights in your subject's eyes, making it ideal for portraiture and fashion. Separate purchase of a speed ring is required for use and Impact makes models to fit most popular brands.

A: If you own a Chimera Octaplus or Modular speedring that has eight (8) rod holes, then yes, your Chimera speedring would be compatible for use with the Impact Luxbanx Duo Deep Small Octagonal Softbox (39 ). The Chimera Octaplus Speed Ring for Speedotron 102, B&H # CHSROS102, or the Chimera Octaplus Speed Ring for Speedotron 202VF, B&H # CHSROS202VF, are the Chimera speedrings for Speedotron strobe lights that would be compatible for use with the Impact Luxbanx Duo Deep Small Octagonal Softbox (39 ).

Q: 3. any LED lights that work with this?

A: A LED light that would be compatible with this softbox is the Westcott SkyLux LED Light which accepts Bowens style speed rings. Please see the items below.

Q: 4. Can this be used on the Westcott Spiderlite TD6?

A: Not unless Wescott makes a 8 hole speed ring for the TD6. TD6 appears to only have 4 rod holes in the head.

Q: 6. Hi I'm looking at buying this can you tell me will a standard profoto speed ring fit the mount?Thanks

A: I don't want to use the word 'standard' as it is too broad. You need to make sure that the ring accepts 8 poles. Also the rings could be a bit different diameter but I would imagine they all would work. An old iConcept ring with Profoto adapter is about 1/4 smaller than the Impact ring. The nice thing about the Impact ring is that it has two 3/8 -16 threaded holes in addition to the 8 while one has to use the threaded hole as part of the 8 on the iConcept's.

Q: 7. What do I need to use this with an Alien Bee?

A: This softbox needs a speedring to attach to a light. So depending on your lighting system just get the appropriate speed ring and your set to go.

Q: 8. Do I still need a speed ring even though I have an Impact strobe light?

A: This softbox requires a ring. The type is determined by the mount on the light.

Q: 9. What speedring is needed to use this Octa with a speedlite? (Canon 430EX or Phottix Mitros+ flashes)?

A: You will need a Bowens mount speed ring. This speed ring is a good one.

[5.5 lb] Man this thing is big. I am a photography student taking my first portraiture class. I had read about the light from these octagonal softbox. even though I knew what 49 inches was it didn't register until I assembled it. The same day I received this I did my assignment shoot. I used this as my fill light and my brand new 20 beauty dish received say order. I was surprised at how much light this produced and had to power down my light. First assembly was a bit rough for a newbie stand out in the middle of the desert on a dark chilly night but over came it pretty quickly. I am sure future assemblies will be much fast. I have only used once since it really big so make sure you are not space challenged. Did I mention that this thing is big. I also had to use with a C-stand and some leg weights. Regular light stand felt like it would tip too easy outdoors. 5

[Yes] I'm using this in my home studio - I've used it for two portrait sessions so far and it gives a very nice soft diffused light. I bought it bundled with a light on B&H and saved an extra bit of money so that made it a good product and excellent value. 5

[Silver] Just switched from speedlites to a studio strobe and was looking at the rotolux same size as this guy except it's a lot more money. at some point maybe I'll be in a position to care about that difference but for right now this is a deal that can't be beat. Provides a great depth and quality of light. the added grid is amazing as well. it's not as cheap as the other reviewer described. The one thing I would like to note is don't buy the impact speed ring or any other generic brand. I got a bowens one that didn't fit and had to scramble to find one that did. 5

[Yes] Made with strong materials. I had read other reviews before my purchase and was concerned, not I am not! The bank is easy to set up and a very versital light source. You can pull off the front diffusion to get a little harder light if you like. Feathers off very nicely due to deep design. I expect to be using this bank a lot! 5

[36 x 5.3 x 3.2"] Using a 60 Octa is great for creating a soft, wrapping main light with a beautiful catch light. I recently used this octa to shoot with strobes and with continuous LED lights for a diffused, natural looking window light. Results were great. Well made, very nice light distribution and falloff. A nice addition to my light modifier arsenal. 5
