[Aluminum] The barn door for the Taiko is finally here.
They do what they are supposed to do. The primary way I will be using the barn doors is to avoid light spill when placing an extra diffuser disc, flag or panel in front of the Taiko, bouncing the light at a surface for indirect and extra diffused light source, or, also, when I want to prevent light hitting a ceiling or an object I'm trying to avoid being lit.

The construction of this barn door is super heavy duty. It's all metal, from the frame to the doors, to the mounting platform. The mounting platform also features a strip rubber material to grip it well when latched. (See pictures).

The Taiko features an extra second slide-down rail right next to the area the diffusion panels slide down. That's what I initially imagined the bard door would go when I got the Taiko.

Like another reviewer also mentioned, I would rather have the "drop down slide" barn door system instead of the clamp-on to the frame design, but this clamp on barn door design works well too and it mounts very securely.

Actually, I wouldn't mind if it were made of plastic. Sometimes plastic is good...

But this barn door is very heavy duty and all in all, it does what it's supposed to do, control light spill and light shaping, which is the most important thing.

[2.81 lb] I am very impressed with this 3 light kit. The bag is amazing where everything is neatly packed. All three lights will be perfect for me on the go product photography. The stands are compact yet robust. From unboxing to ready to shoot it took less than 2 minutes to set everything up. I love that I can use use the power supply or even optional batteries to power the lights which again is amazing for location lighting.
I was initially worried that three lights and stands would be heavy, but to my surprise it was the perfect weight to carry all day without fatigue. This would be a great interview or YouTube setup too. Highly recommend this. In fact, I might look at buying another kit to keep in my studio.

[2.81 lb] I run a live stream production company and needed reliable and powerful lights, that are also light and portable. These have been awesome on all count.

I got the set of 3, and was initially impressed with the packing and design. The “briefcase” style bad contains lights, power, and 3 light stands! Very compact and well thought out. It’s a soft case so

In action, the lights have a significant range of controls. Very powerful but can also dim very low. The master/slave function makes it very easy to make changes on set without having to touch all 3 lights. The app also adds to the ease of control on set.

5 out of 5 stars all around. I’ve also been using one of the GVM auto-sliders and am very happy with those results. I’ll be buying more equipment from GVM for sure.

[Aluminum] There are so many good things I can say about this light, and about my entire adventure into creating a GVM lighting kit.


For the sake of consistency in light output and color temperature, I like to keep my brand of lighting the same in my kit. After some research (probably more than most) I settled on GVM to start building my kit around. They have a decent following, make lights for every budget, and price for performance value is through the roof.


My trial was with a 2-panel LED Bi-Color/RGB kit, and after that, I was sold on choosing them to build my kit around. I have added bowens mount COB lights and LED panels like this one into my video kit and they have been indispensable and perfectly pairable for all kinds of shoots. I have basically matched my flash lighting setup (from a different brand) for photography with the constant light setup for video.


For an 8 light Greenscreen shoot for a client, I ended up using 6 lights to light the full length green screen (the picture was from the setup process, but forgot to take one with all lights going) I have a GVM100W as my main in a 36'' beauty dish borrowed from my photo kit, and the GVM 1000D working as the kick light (you can see it in the upper right corner) it's probably 8-10' from the subject at full power at 55k and it gave a really nice skip light at f4.


The 1000D is a great companion to to the G100W as a main and kick style setup. I also like that it has all the special effects as the 800D LED panels I have. They all play really well together.


I also really appreciate the soft case the light comes with. it helps when pairing down lights from my main kit.


Overall I am extremely happy with this light, and have been with my entire GVM kit thus far.

[2.81 lb] This is my 1st set of LED video panel lights. Been thinking about getting some LED panels for a while.
I love how the GVM lights comes everything you need. includes carrying case, stands, and etc. Make it so much easier for me to take with me on location for video shoots.

The lights itself is very bright!!! There are 2 dials on the back of the each lights, control the Bi-color, and brightness. But for any of the RGB color controls, will require the cell phone app, and BT connection. This is something I wish GVM can improve in the future. Not everyone will like to use the app to control RBG colors. Wish there is a way to adjust the RGB without using the app.

But overall this is a great set of lights, for lighting up at least 20' x 20' stage. This adds so much more production values to my videos.

[2.81 lb] Im loving this light. I have the gvm 800D lights and they work great but for my video work I thought having these style lights that have sole built in light effects would be very useful for me. The back control buttons are pretty much the same with a few extra settings for controlling the preset light effects. This light does not come with a light stand so I just used another light stand that I had and mounts well. The foldable barn doors on the front of the light are easy to fold up and put away in the carrying case. And the barn doors also help with directing the light in a more specific area. The adjust angle of the light and mount design is very important for my needs as sometimes I film top down and I also want my lights to be facing down the same way my camera is facing and with these GVM series of lights it is possible. I don’t often use this light outdoors but the fact that we can power it via 2 NPF batteries is a huge bonus for mobile filming run and gun. The adjustable color spectrum and controls we have available at the back of the light along with using the mobile app. Just makes it very easy to operate and also very convenient to be able to control several lights when in the master and slave modes. Overall I am very happy with this light and my purchase.

[Aluminum] Been waiting for barndoors for the Taiko for a while. They are built great and do what they need to do. The clip on design works but I'd prefer the slide in design better but all in all it holds on tight and works well.
