A: This scope is made in China.

Q: 8. What is the clamp made of? Metal/Plastic? What is the load bearing?

A: The BC-2 Hide Clamp is made from a sturdy Aluminium Alloy.

Q: 9. Lens caps? The older model had an eyepiece lens cap on a string and an objective cap on a hinge. What does the current model have for caps, if any?

A: The setup on the lens cap on the newer model is the same with the hinge cap on the object lens and the removable cap on the eyepiece lens (with string).

Q: 10. is this used for night vision?

A: Sorry about the delay in answering. I am just back from travelling the antarctic which is why I bought this. It has excellent optics but not recommended for night vision even though I have used in twilight conditions.

[1.13 lb] I bought these binoculars for a beginning birding class, and as a beginner birder, it's sufficient for what I need it to do. The focus wheel is smooth and the image is clear. As a petite person (5'3), the strap is comfortable and at a good length. The best thing is the incredibly fast shipping; my instructors sent a note on Tuesday for what binoculars we'd need for our field trip on Saturday, and I got my binoculars in time. No complaints! 5

[4.2 mm] I purchased this monocular primarily for stargazing. I have looked around the landscape too. The optics are just that, great. I can't see any limitations between my eyes and the atmosphere. The field is flat to the edges, judged by stars. There is slight brightness variation at the edge barely noticeable when looking at the light polluted sky. The whole device feels small and light. It easily fits in a pocket. I can hold it in one hand no problem. The problem is to hold it with two hands when I want to minimize shaking. I wish they made a bigger model, like 12x60 or so. Focusing mechanism is smooth. The eyepiece is comfortable. The smaller, eyepiece cap is rather loose, bound to be lost some day. The larger one is tighter and there is another one in the box with secure attachment. Included carry strap is weird. 5

[42 mm] This monocular presents an extremely clear image at a good distance. I've found it useful for viewing out my house windows and also from the car on the street. I take it everywhere with me. The focus wheel is easy to use without taking the monocular from my eye. It has just the right amount of resistance and never slips out of focus. It's exactly what I was looking for. I've learned so much about my town with it! 5

[10x] Excellent monocular. Optics are really good. I'm used to my $2000 binoculars and this monocular doesn't loose much detail, contrast, or color transmission. I prefer the 10 power as it is better for bird id. Takes a little practice to overcome the shaking. Supper quality for the cost. I was impressed enough that I bought my wife a pair of Opticron binoculars. Also very nice. Mitchell 5

[4.2 mm] Cornell University did a review on binoculars recently, and said this was there #1 choice (well, same brand and model, but they tested the 8x42), when taking into consideration the cost of the binos and their quality. I have now used them for a week in the field, and I am 100% satisfied. They are great. Just what I had hoped for. 5
