[10x] I purchased this monocular primarily for stargazing. I have looked around the landscape too. The optics are just that, great. I can't see any limitations between my eyes and the atmosphere. The field is flat to the edges, judged by stars. There is slight brightness variation at the edge barely noticeable when looking at the light polluted sky.
The whole device feels small and light. It easily fits in a pocket. I can hold it in one hand no problem. The problem is to hold it with two hands when I want to minimize shaking. I wish they made a bigger model, like 12x60 or so.

Focusing mechanism is smooth. The eyepiece is comfortable. The smaller, eyepiece cap is rather loose, bound to be lost some day. The larger one is tighter and there is another one in the box with secure attachment. Included carry strap is weird.

[1.09 lb] The Opticron 10x42 DBA VHD+ monocular is a bit larger and heavier---more expensive too---than other handheld scopes, but the view is really unparalleled in terms of field-of-view and sharp definition; and the device is a real pleasure to use. My only complaints are that, once the objective lenscap is on, the scope fits too tightly into the belt-looped case; the eyepiece cap has to be secured somehow; and the rotating, elevating eyepiece is a little too free in its motion. In terms of sharp optics, though, this monocular is a real champ. (Why B&H sends a free binocular harness out with this monocular, I could not tell you.)

[10x] I own three monoculars: a Vertex 10x25, a Leica 8x20, and this Opticron 10x42. The Vertex is the most rugged and good for a rocky hike; the Leica and Opticron are significantly clearer and sharper, though. The Opticron is the easiest to use because of its wider field of view, but is bigger and heavier (though still much more portable than an optically equivalent pair of binoculars--I always prefer monoculars for that reason). The clarity and magnification make it ideal for looking at more distant objects, such as waterfowl far from shore.

[Roof (BAK4)] Amazing clarity! Heavier than my super compact binocs but just as good as my clunky larger ones. Plus good lens protectors come with.

[42 mm] After comparing for a long time, I bought this 10x from B&H, I satisfy with it, I can see small words 1.4 meters away, the whole field is very clear. All in all, good!

[10x] Excellent monocular. Optics are really good. I'm used to my $2000 binoculars and this monocular doesn't loose much detail, contrast, or color transmission. I prefer the 10 power as it is better for bird id. Takes a little practice to overcome the shaking.
Supper quality for the cost. I was impressed enough that I bought my wife a pair of Opticron binoculars. Also very nice.

[Roof (BAK4)] I only began birding in February 2021 so I'm by no means a binocular pro, but I'm extremely impressed with these.

I've been happily using a set of Nikon Monarch 5 8x42 throughout the year, but wanted something a bit smaller and more compact to bring with me on non birding-only outings. Within half an hour of use this past weekend, I fell in love with these 8x32 Opticron Explorer WA ED-R and will probably wind up taking them on most outings, birding-only or not.

The wide field of view makes trying to spot warblers in substantial Northern Ontario thickets far easier than with the Nikons, and the optical quality was near perfect on a bright September morning. They also feel sturdy and comfortable in my hands, and are really just a joy to use.

I like the quick release on the (very comfortable) strap - it makes it easier to slide into a coat pocket depending on your outing - but though the case seems very well made, I don't think it's a perfect fit for the binoculars. It's truly my only complaint, though.

I was on the fence between these and the 8x32 Travellers, but after one use feel justified in my selection of the Explorers. I'm sure a more experienced birder would notice some differences and (depending on one's income) be able to justify the extra $150 USD - as mentioned in reviews on BirdForum - but for my purposes I couldn't be happier with these Explorers.

I'll definitely be returning to Opticron and B&H for future binocular needs.
