This variable ND8-ND128 filter with magnetic technology can be installed in seconds for a faster installation than traditional thread filters.

The adapter ring has a thread to be screwed onto the lens. The ND8-ND128 magnetic filter engages in a magnetic way. Magnetic adapter rings are also suitable for other magnetic filters such as the magnetic CPL, magnetic ND8, magnetic black mist, and the magnetic ND1000 by K&F Concept.

K&F Concept utilizes cutting-edge technology (frame self-lock) to avoid the common "X" cross on a wide-angle and telephoto lens.

Both sides of the glass have nanometer coating (a total of 28 layers) that makes it waterproof, scratch resistant, and anti-glaring, effectively protecting the camera lens.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Das it work with the 'Tiffen 82mm Variable Neutral Density Filter'? The output has more than 82mm

A: No, the K&F Concept Soft Silicone Cap for Variable ND Filters (82mm) does not fit the Tiffen 82mm Variable Neutral Density Filter.

Q: 2. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1081648-REG/zeiss_2059_812_front_lens_cap_86mm.html (Can this lens cap be used?)

A: B+W 82mm XS-Pro Digital ND Vario MRC-Nano has an 86mm front threaded diameter. ZEISS 86mm Front Lens Cap would be perfect for your filter.

Q: 3. Can someone explain the markings on the filter? Thanks

A: The markings are 1/2 stop increments. This helps you determine the proper exposure.

Q: 4. Can this filter be used on wide angle lenses for example Sigma 10-20mm? I have tried cheaper alternatives with extremely poor results. Uneven darkening and camera (Pentax K-7) metering failing resulting in gross underexposure.

A: I've tried only 2 variable ND filters: this B+W one and a similar one by Genustech. Non-variable ND filters have fewer problems. From what I've read, most of the variable ND's, like the Genustech, have the shortcomings you describe. This B+W does not. It is consistent in how it transmits light across the whole filter without the usual cross artifact that darkens the image unevenly. I use this filter mainly for video with large sensor cameras; my only qualm with the filter is that it doesn't get dark enough for very bright scenes and that's partly due to my lowest ISO rating being 400. So I have to stop down the lens anyway, just not as much, but more than I'd like to. I can't vouch for no vignetting on a 10mm super wide lens. I get no vignetting at 17mm focal length on my 17-55mm Nikon zoom. B+W's engineering and build quality is usually superior to the rest.

Q: 5. Would an 82mm lens cap be a snug fit with this? Or does it need to be bigger?

A: The 82mm cap works well on the filter for 77mm

Q: 6. What is the difference photo image quality between the Kase Skyeye filters and the Kase Wolverine filters?

A: The Skyeye filters have better quality while the Wolverine filters are more durable.

Q: 7. The specs for the B+W 95mm Xs-Pro ND Vario filter show that the front filter size is also 95mm. However, for all other sizes the front filter size is larger than the back side that screws on to the lens. Can someone please confirm that the front threads for the 95mm model are also 95mm as in the specs or wider like the picture suggests? Thanks.

A: definitely not!! the rear thread of the filter is 95mm, however the front thread of the filter is 105mm

Q: 8. Has anyone used this filter with the DJI X5 camera? If so, how is the color fidelity? Is there any specific color cast? Thank you.

A: B+W make very high quality filters. This will give you a great performance when used on lens with the X5.

Q: 9. Does the ring physically stop at min and max ends, or does it just spin all the way around?

A: Yes! Hard stops on both ends. Great feature.

Q: 10. I have a Sony A7S with Sony FE PZ 28-135mm f/4 G OSS Lens and shoot video. I like the flexibility of the variable ND filter especially as I often don't have time to change filters. Is this the best for exteriors? Thanks Andrew

A: It's that or a mattbox with ND, especially for shooting Log2 or Log3 at 1600 or 3200iso.

[Multi Coated] I'm no filter snob, but this seems like an outstanding build quality to me, the case they send for it is a wonderful touch as well. Feels nice, looks nice, does what its supposed to do, great case. What's not to love K&F makes good, reasonably priced products; and I've never had an issue with anything purchased from them, this is not the exception.

[82 mm] The VND itself looks very good. No ugly X over the image. The game changers for me are the hard stops on the variable ring and the magnetic mount. I got rid of my tiffen immediately.

[0.26 lb] Set your camera shutter speed, f stop, iso, and then whenever there's too much light just turn the Nano-X Pro Variable ND Filter and your picture will never be overexposed anymore!

[Glass] I bought this for my Sony 20mm 1.8 which has a 67mm filter thread. The lens is so wide I would get a lot of vignetting in the corners. This completely solved it, the magnetic hold is strong, the filter quality is great and all of my issues are solved!

[82 mm] I didn't notice any light leaks, color cast, vignetting or an x-effect.

These K&F filters have a hard stop at both ends whereas some of their other variable ND filters spin freely.

Overall a really great value. Perfect for video!
