With a drop front design, the 18.5 x 24.5 x 1.5" black Archival Methods Museum Drop Front Box - Black 18.5x24.5"allows easy access to your prints, while a removable lid reduces table space needed during presentation. The interior of the box is lined with a 10-pt. card stock that is acid- and lignin-free. With a depth of 1.5" it can accommodate between 60 to 70 unmounted prints or 10 to 12 matted 4-ply prints. The adhesive used in construction is pH balanced, and the archival box has passed the Photographic Activity Test (PAT), which makes the box suitable for long-term storage.

The Box is made from a museum quality 0.100 Kappa Binder's Board, which is lignin- and acid-free, and the sulfur content has been reduced to <0.0008%. The board has been buffered, which keeps acidity from transferring to the stored materials. The walls of the box and the lid have been double-lined without glue added in between the layers, and the exterior has been covered in a book-binding cloth, including a 100% aqueous acrylic coating, which makes the exterior moisture resistant.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Are the given dimensions of the Lineco Museum Boxes measured on the inside or outside? I have prints with a size of 11.4x13. Will they fit in the 11.515 box?

A: I have the similar box from Lineco, but with dimensions 8.5 x 10.5 x 3 . According to my measurements, these are the interior dimensions. If Lineco measures the 11.5x15 boxes the same way, your items should fit. Unfortunately, I do not have the 11.5x15 box.

Q: 2. How many matted prints can fit in this box?

A: The interior of the Lineco Drop-Front Archival Box (11.5 x 15 x 3", Blue/Gray) is height three inches. So as for how many it can fit really depends on the thickness of the paper and matte board you are using.

Q: 3. Do you have a binder box that fits legal size paper?

A: I have never seen ones with three rings that are much larger than this one. fits an 8x10ish print

Q: 4. What are the interior dimensions of this box?

A: Hello Richard. I took a ruler to one of my boxes and it measured 9.5 x 12.5 x 3 , which happen to be the quoted dimensions of the box. Either the manufacturer is measuring the interior or the thin sides subtract no appreciable volume. I even sliced a piece of spare mat board to those dimensions and placed it in the bottom of the box to be sure. Even though the box is very thin it is extremely rigid. It's a well made box.

Q: 5. Do the Archival Methods 8.75 x 11.1" Crystal Clear Bags fit in this box?

A: Yes, they will fit.

Q: 6. Does this board have adhesive on one side?

A: There is no adhesive on Archival Methods 13 x 19" 2-Ply 100% Cotton Museum Board (25-Pack, Antique White).

Q: 7. What is the total number of art prints to keep in a single 3 inch deep archival box?

A: Fine art printing papers vary considerably in thickness. Here's an example of how to figure out how many will fit of any given thickness. Find out the thickness of your paper expressed in mils. A mil is 1/1000 of an inch. As an example, Hahnemühle Photo Rag Bright WhitePaper 310GSM, is 19.6 mils thick. 1000 divided by 19.6 = 51. So 51 sheets would be 1" thick. If you fill the Lineco box right to the top you'll get 153 prints in it. Now that's the theoretical maximum. You have to assume that you're not PRESSING these prints in, so they'll take up a little more space. You might have the prints in sleeves for protection. you might be using inter leafing tissue. Anything that increases the actual space taken up by each print reduces your count.

Q: 8. Will this archival binder box accommodate ClearFile Archival Plus Negative Page 35mm 10 strips of 4-Frames (B&H # CLP35104100)? According to a Q&A that product is 9-5/8 wide by 13 tall.

A: No, according to those dimensions it will not accommodates 3-ring page formats over to 10.5 wide by 12.5 tall (26.67 x 31.75 cm).

Q: 9. Do you sell any 52" mounting board?

A: The largest mounting board we sell is 40 x 60 x 3/16". https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1245123-REG/nielsen_bainbridge_cc4060_3c_clay_coated_foam_core.html

Q: 10. how does the drop front stay closed? is it magnetic? or is it always down when the lid is off?

A: The lid holds the drop side closed. When the lid is off, the drop side falls down about halfway so you can access the prints more easily.

[4.05 lb] This box will hold 3’x 4’ photographs. It is on the expensive side but is WAY less expensive than the flat file blueprint drawers! I am quite happy with it and it was delivered promptly as is always the case with B&H.

[4.05 lb] Fantastic box for sharing and storing prints. Especially nice if you want to leave prints with someone in a clean box that isn't as expensive as a full blown portfolio box or case. Would be fantastic if it was available in a 1/2 inch depth as well.
