Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. So it is not clear if the system car received 44 filter? Do you sell a 45.65 adaptor?

A: The Tilta 4 x 5.65" Stackable Filter Tray for Mirage Matte Box is designed to work with 4 x 5.65" filters. It is not for 4x4 filters.

Q: 2. The product description says it accepts multiple 4x5.65" filters with 4mm thickness, so you can stack filters in one tray?

A: Yes, The SmallRig Filter Tray for Mini Matte Box (4 x 5.65") supports multiple filters at the same time.

Q: 3. What would be a good protective filter pouch to house 3-4 filter trays with filters?

A: Consider the NiSi Caddy for S5 Filter Holder and Seven 150 x 150mm or 150 x 170mm Filters for the Tilta Dual Circular Filter Tray for Mirage Matte Box (95mm). See the link below: https://bhpho.to/2Svo68V

Q: 4. It does not appear that a 4x4 polarizing filter can be rotated in this tray while within a SmallRig Mini Matte Box Pro. True?

A: The SmallRig Filter Tray for Mini Matte Box (4 x 4") does not rotate.

Q: 5. Do Tilta or anyone else sale 4x5.65 to 4x4 adapter?

A: Yes. The following 4x4 or 100mm filters will adapt to the system holder. LEE Filters 100 x 100mm Schneider 4 x 4" 2mm LEE Filters 4x4

Q: 6. Will a 100mm x 100mm (3.93" x 3.93") square filter fit in this tray?

A: Yes, SmallRig Filter Tray for Mini Matte Box will work with 4x4 ( AKA 100x100mm) filter sizes.

Q: 7. Can this be used with Sigma 60-600mm EF mount lens?

A: No, the front diameter of the Sigma 60-600mm f/4.5-6.3 DG DN OS Sports Lens is 119.4mm, which is small enough to fit in to the 125mm opening of the back of the SHAPE Clip-On Matte Box. There is no step up ring available to convert this obscure front diameter size. You would need to adapt a donut to work for this specific lens,.

Q: 8. What is the thickness tolerance of filters that can be inserted into each slot?

A: The only filters that would work with this adapter are 95mm filters from Vaxis. Vaxis 95mm filters for the Tilta Mirage Matte Box: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?q=Vaxis%2095mm&sts=ma

Q: 9. How can I insert VND and promist & IR, do I need another tray slot?

A: Yes, consider adding the Tilta Stackable Circle Filter Tray for Mirage Matte Box (95mm) to work with the additional Tilta Dual Circular Filter Tray for Mirage Matte Box (95mm) in the Tilta Mirage Matte Box or going for a 4 x 5.65" stackable filter holder and trays for the Promist and IR filters. Q: 10. Does this include a tray to actually place a filter inside it? Or do I have to purchase the dual filter slot with it?

A: The filter tray is sold separately. The link below is the tray you will need: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1672670-REG/tilta_mb_t16_dcf_dual_circular_filter_tray.html?sts=pi&pim=Y

[Lens Clamp] Great mattebox. It is a bit limited since it isn't compatible with side flags (ears) but most of the time all I need is the eyebrow anyways. Other than that this guys is awesome. Some might shy away because it only holds 4x4 filters, but you really don't need anything bigger than that unless you rock anamorphics. And if you can afford anamorphics then you can afford to rent out top level matteboxes. I love this mattebox, no complaints! Honestly I've become a big fan of Tilta over the years. For a Chinese company, they don't live up to the cheap Chinese stigma. Their products are at a very competitive price and they've always been well made and good investments.

[1.905 lb] I bought the Redrock Micro Matte box when it was in the Deal Zone and was really excited. It came, I set it up and it had some glaring issues. For one, it was clunky and too big. But most of all, the design didn't allow me to have great positioning of the center of the box with the lens/camera. So i returned that and bought this. It was cheaper (than the regular price) but I saw that in the design, it seemed like it had greater flexibility in regards to the positioning of everything. I assumed correctly. It's awesome. Every piece of it I actually love. Much smaller and lighter but still has a huge opening for big cine lenses. Plus, it uses 4x4 filters rather than the bigger filters the RR used. I love it. One of my favorite buys in recent history.

[Lens Clamp] This allows me to use my same filters on my gimbal rig that I use on my handheld and tripod rig. I love that they are stackable, too.

[Frame: Aluminum] I have been using Shape's products for years. When they came out with their silicone line of matte boxes I was more than intrigued. They offer three different models. Since I didn't know which one to choose, (I never use more than one filter anyway), I wrote them an email and got an answer within the hour. I explained my dilemma and they took the time to give me alternatives.

They recommended I go with this one and boy were they right! At such a killer price, their system is easy and efficient. You pop open the matte box and just put your filter in. A magnet closes it back very neatly. Very cool and light product indeed and great customer service!

[1.905 lb] Bought the matte box three years ago and it still excels everyday I use it. Compact enough to fit in a backpack, lightweight and really solid build, and the price is perfect.

[Lens Clamp] If you're looking for a good matte box do yourself a favor and don't buy a $ knock off of a bigger matte box, I did that years ago and never used it because it was a piece of junk. This matte box is ruggedly built, it's not a knock off, it's a well designed matte box with minimal features that work perfectly, and are suitable for most camera operators. I like to run a small rig, I'm not looking for a behemoth matte box to make my camera look bigger, I just needed something functional, that is well built and can be used day in and day out. This checks off all the boxes. The size is perfect for using lenses with 100mm or less front diameter. Which are all the lenses I own. The included elastic nun's knickers in addition to the different clamp on adapter sizes is great. Everything that should be metal is metal, it's lightweight, sturdy and overall everything most operators need. Something to keep in mind is that it comes with a top flag, and there is no way to attach side flags or a bottom flag, I rarely use flags, so for me it wasn't an issue, and If I have a job that demands that kind of control it will be in the budget to rent a more feature rich matte box. Also the hood itself is made of plastic that is relatively flimsy, still rugged, just bendy. If you're the kind of operator who likes to grab hold of the matte box while shooting you might consider the carbon fiber version. I'm an owner operator and I need rugged, lightweight, professional equipment that delivers job after job.
