Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. The kit says no mounting included. All I want is a desk clamp and the arm to stick into the desk clamp - what kind of mounting is this kit not including? Do I have to buy more accessories to make this work?

A: This kit by OC White comes with everything you need to clamp a mic arm to the end of a table. Nothing else is needed.

Q: 2. What is the maximum supported monitor weight?

A: It can support monitors weights from 5-15 LBS.

Q: 3. What is the maximum supported weight?

A: The maximum weight it can support is 15 LBS.

Q: 4. How do I adjust the round joint nearest the mic mount? I can't get it to move at all. I don't mean the knob near the mic connector, but rather the piece with the round black circle on the outside at the other end of that segment

A: That joint is not adjustable. The angle of the mic would be adjusted with the locking screw.

Q: 5. How do I adjust the round joint nearest the mic mount? I can't get it to move at all.

A: Try loosening the triangular knob and that should allow the joint to move so you can position the mic mount as needed. Once you have it positioned as desired, then tighten the knob to keep it in place. If you are still having problems, you may want to try contacting the manufacturer directly. You can reach O.C. White by phone at 413-289-1751. Their offices are based in Massachusetts.

Q: 6. If I wanted to add a 2nd arm separately and mount it on this same pole?

A: You can ad another arm using the O.C. White PMB-1-13 ProBoom Ultima Gen2 Post Mounting Bracket, BH #OCPMB113. Also, we carry a complete two-person set up, the O.C. White ProBoom Ultima Gen2 Two Mic Arm Roundtable Special, BH #OCULP2RT13

Q: 7. The Arm is so low that it hits my table after I put in the bushing, how do I resolve that ?

A: It is only compatible with O.C. White Ultima Gen2 ULP. If you are using Gen1 it will not work.

Q: 8. Looking to upgrade from my Elgato LP mic arm. Do you know if this mic arm will fit in the Elgato table mounting clamp?

A: The O.C. White ProBoom Ultima Gen2 Ultralow-Profile Adjustable Mic Boom Arm is not guaranteed to work with other brands of table clamp. To ensure the best results, the O.C. White clamp mount should be used.

Q: 9. Is this arm static or does it articulate up and down?

A: The O.C. White ProBoom Ultima Gen2 is able to articulate both horizontally and vertically.

Q: 10. How is it possible that this thing costs $341? Does it come with a microphone?

A: No, it doesn't come with a microphone.

[4.81 lb] Very pleased with this. It is very solid and feels like a quality product that I will use daily. Will be buying three more.

[Black / Red] I'm a professional voice over artist and I have an adjustable desk in my booth so that I can choose to sit or stand while performing. I needed a sturdy mic stand to clamp onto this desk for my U87. This is it. I've gone through 4 other models of stands before settling on the Ultima. All other stands would start sinking or did not provide the options for articulation that I needed. This Ultima solved all my problems.

[None] I went through four different mic arms (including low profile and boom arms). I didn’t care for the boom arm, since I didn’t like having the mic blocking the view of my face on camera. Other low profile options had decent adjustability, but it was a pain to constantly loosen and retighten knobs every time I wanted to make a slight adjustment to height. This Ultima model is BY FAR the best option out there for quick and easy adjustments, and superior build quality. Yes the price is significantly higher, but well worth it in my opinion if you really need adjustability on the fly.

[5/8"-27 Male] If you compare this to other arms that get the job done but wobble, you will see the engineering and metal craftsmanship that make this a more refined, professional, smooth experience. Although more expensive, it is likely to outlast any competition in it's price range or lower. The handling and ease of movement is also highly appreciated.

[5/8"-27 Male] Both the arm and the clamp are well built and feel like they will last a lifetime. The movement is silent and buttery smooth. Once you dial in the tension it stay exactly where you place it every time with zero slop or creep. Also, while it's not in use it neatly tucks away to keep a small footprint on your desk.

The reviewer saying it can't hold an SM7B is mistaken as it definitely can. Joe Rogan uses these to hold SM7Bs along with many other hosts. I have an RE20 which is only 1 ounce lighter and it holds it just fine. Granted the knob is a bit small and I could see it being hard to tighten if you had weaker hands but since most mics have movement in their attachment point it's not a huge issue once you set it.

It's pricey but it has to be since it's not easy to keep the mic low while remaining strong. Cheaper arms will work as well but typically have to go up and over to have enough strength to hold the mic while fully extended. This will be the last arm you buy so over the lifetime of the product it's well worth it.

Keep in mind the reach isn't super long at 29 so the extension arm might be necessary depending on the depth of your desk and where you intend on attaching the clamp.

[4.81 lb] tldr; This is a great boom arm: it's made well, stays where you put it, and is easy to move. If I had one small nit pick it's the plastic cover on the bottom part of the arm doesn't stay put well. It might just be my unit though. At any rate, this arm is worth the money and I recommend it.

[Black / Red] I have seen these mic booms on programs like Joe Rogan and others. When I finally used one on TimCast IRL, I understood why anyone would shell out $400+ for something that has $100 competition.

It is like using an antigravity device to push your mic anywhere you might want it. It is awesome, and worth spending the money if you work with a microphone daily like I do.

[5/8"-27 Male] I've gone through a handful of options before I landed on this one, from Elgato, Rode, and even Chinesium solutions. My only regret is not purchasing this to begin with and saving all that money. The price tag is steep, but you're paying for quality and sheer customizability with all the interchangeable parts.

I've seen this low-profile mic boom used in one of the best podcasts out there called the H3 Podcast (yes, it's also seen on Roe Jogan). That in itself speaks volumes on the quality and reasons why the OC White Ultima Gen 2 is worth every dollar.
