Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. does this support one 4k monitor and one 1080p monitor at the same time?

A: Yes, this dock will support 1 4K and 1 FHD monitor at the same time. The limitation is depending on your computer's graphics card.

Q: 2. Hi team! is this docking station compatible with an HP Victus 15 with AMD Ryzen 5?

A: There are several configurations of the HP Victus product line available, but for compatibility with the Belkin Pro Thunderbolt 4 Dock you will require a Thunderbolt 4 port on your device.

Q: 3. Buying 2023 iMac M3. Is this a good fit for this computer or do I need to upgrade to another device?

A: That would depend on the type of ports you are looking for and the number of ports you need, but the OWC Thunderbolt Dock with Thunderbolt 4 Cable has a good number/selection of ports, so I think it would be a good fit for your 2023 M3 iMac.

Q: 4. Can I use this to connect monitors and peripherals to the dock and then seamlessly switch between my Mac desktop when on but then connect to the front TB port to use my laptop and connected monitors / peripherals?

A: Docks can only be connected to one computer at a time.

Q: 5. Is it possible to power & connect a USB-C monitor via one USB-C cable connected to this dock? Specifically, I'm looking to pair this dock with the Dell S2722QC monitor and I am hoping to be able to power and connect the monitor via a single cable plugged into this dock

A: The USB-C port on the OWC Thunderbolt Dock with Thunderbolt 4 Cable BH #OWTB4DOCK is not capable of powering an external monitor.

Q: 6. what does this item do?

A: The Razer Thunderbolt 4 Dock Chroma acts as a 10-port hub with dual display, Ethernet, USB, Thunderbolt 4, audio, and SD card connections. It is also able to provide pass-through charging to connected devices.

Q: 7. Is this dock compatible with 2021 iPad Pro 11" & 12" models for drive mounting? Also, does anyone know if there is card coping or file transfer iOS software? i.e. Shotput pro or hedge for iOS?

A: TheOWC Thunderbolt Dock with Thunderbolt 4 Cable BH #OWTB4DOCK is compatible with both models of the iPad Pro 2021. It can copy from an SD card into your Photos, from there, you can import them to any app that you use to do photo editing.

Q: 8. As of September 2022, are there still issues with the Mac Monterey OS regarding some of the ports, or have those problems been resolved?

A: According to the manufacturer's website, the OWC Thunderbolt Dock is supported by macOS 11.1 Big Sur or later.

Q: 9. Sorry to show my ignorance here, but how do I run 2 displays from a single DP port? any cables/adapters provided?

A: Not at all. This dock will support 2 4K monitors. This dock has one DisplayPort and one Thunderbolt 3/USB Type-C port, for the secondary monitor.

Q: 10. MacBook Pro 16" Needs 96 Watts or it will not charge. Can anyone here comment if they have or know of someone that has been able to charge his MacBook Pro 16" with less then 96 Watts like from this Hub?

A: That may depend on several factors but Apple advises that you always use the correct power adapter to charge your MacBook Pro. From their support page, "You should use the appropriate wattage power adapter for your Mac notebook. You can use a compatible higher wattage power adapter without issue, but it won't make your computer charge faster or operate differently. If you use a power adapter that is lower in wattage than the adapter that came with your Mac, it won't provide enough power to your computer." That noted, you can use a lower wattage adapter (low to a certain point) and it will charge a MacBook Pro but slowly. In this case, the OWC "dock can deliver up to 90W" which is lower than the 96 W needed. Another thing to note is that not all Thunderbolt cables have the same power rating. We carry Thunderbolt cables with 10 W, 60 W, and 100 W ratings so you will need to look for that too.

[Aluminum] This dock is small but mighty. Works great with my 2018 macbook pro 15. I run two external monitors, usb camera, and usb c powered ring lights for Zoom meetings. Absolutely perfect!

[Aluminum] With the newer Dell XPS laptops largely abandoning USB-A ports, wired Ethernet ports, and HDMI/DisplayPort ports, having a dock is pretty much necessary for expansion as many current peripherals are still USB-A. I have an earlier Thunderbolt 3 dock on my work-proved Dell Precision, and it requires 2 cords to the laptop, where this Thunderbolt 4 only requires 1 - and has 130W charging pass-through (from the 180W power brick) so it can keep up even when pushing the machine hard. And I'll be able to hook it up to my wired network for throughput greater than what I can manage with WiFi.

[2.31 lb] I purchased this to pair with my 16 Intel Mac Pro mainly for adding two external monitors and to have a wired network connection. When the unit arrived, I simply plugged everything in and it just worked. My two monitors came up just fine and I can still use the laptop screen too. The ethernet port works great. When I unplug the dock to use the laptop by itself, then plug it back in, everything goes back to the way it was. Simply a great little dock.

[Aluminum] Thunderbolt 3 and 4 are both 40 Gbps connections. Thunderbolt 4 is designed so that the hub supports one 10 GBPs PCIe (which is all the USB and other ports), and up to 3 downstream Thunderbolt ports, sharing the remaining 30 GBPs. If you want to attach ultra-fast SSD storage, this technology tops out at 10 GBPs for the storage, and a Thunderbolt 3 hub would be better. The two DisplayPort 1.4 outputs can support up to 30 GBPs of video, but you’ll quickly run out of bandwidth with multiple 4K or 5K displays. This is why some people complain about driving 3 external displays (or even two!). The 40 Gbps total of a single Thunderbolt connection from your computer can’t necessarily support it.

On the plus side, if you have reasonable expectations, this hub or a Thunderbolt 3 hub will deliver outstanding single-cable connectivity between your laptop and all your devices.

[Aluminum] Bought this because I used a 2019 MBP Pro 16 for work all day and my other dock was UBC-C only and was limited on the HDMI port to low refresh even though it had USB-C passthrough.

This one I was able to take full advantage of 144Hz for the monitor over HDMI and have more USB ports in the process. As well put away the power adapter and not have to go crawling under the desk to unplug it if I needed to go mobile and bring it with me. I have now a 2019 MBP Pro 16 I use for work, a 2021 M1 Max MBP 16 I use personally as well as a 2019 LG Gram 17 I use personally. This this works great for all three of them and all three are able to take advantage of the 1440p 144Hz display, even the low spec iGPU on the Gram 17. So much nicer to work with.

My only complaint is it gets super hot to the touch when using the 2019 MBP 16, or I suppose at any point it would be supplying near max power over thunderbolt. I would imagine the case is made of metal to attempt to dissipate that heat more effectively, but it was still a little off putting how hot to the touch the case of the dock gets. I have it out of the way under a monitor stand so it's not a big deal, just consider that though if that would cause you some annoyance in your setup.

[2.31 lb] Purchased to use for our Work from home Dell XPS, Latitude, and Lenovo Legion Laptops. Works great. No Issues. We have to Dell gaming monitors connected because of the clarity and fast refresh rates. Also was cheaper cheaper at B&H than buying it from Dell. B&H sent this great item to my place fast and beautifully boxed in record 2 days.
