The Zoom SGV-6 Supercardioid Mic for V6 V3 Vocal Processorsis a vocal microphone specifically engineered for vocalists using the Zoom V6 or V3 vocal processors. Featuring a highly directional, supercardioid pickup pattern, this shotgun vocal mic isolates your voice by suppressing feedback and sounds from other instruments on stage—which can leak into a traditional mic's signal and negatively impact vocal processing.

The SGV-6 utilizes three microphone elements and special processing to help ensure only your voice is picked up. This enables vocal processors to modulate your voice with unmatched accuracy for more accurate pitch correction and harmonization. The mic requires 48V phantom power to operate.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I see that an Allen key is included with the unit. What is the purpose of it, and is it necessary to use it frequently?

A: The included allen keyallows you to loosen or stiffen the joints of the edelkrone FlexTILT Head v3.

Q: 2. Did they ever update the firmware to allow recording in 48kHz?

A: No. The Zoom PodTrak P8 Portable Multitrack Podcast Recorder records audio at a maximum sampling rate of 44.1 kHz / 16-bit. As another option for a similar multitrack recorder that can also be used for podcasting, but with the ability to provide higher resolution recorded audio, you may want to consider the Zoom LiveTrak L-8 Portable 8-Channel Digital Mixer and Multitrack Recorder (B&H # ZOLTL8), which is capable of recording WAV files up to 96 kHz / 24-bit. You can select between 44.1, 48, or 96 kHz for the sampling rate and 16- or 24-bit for the bit depth.

Q: 3. Can the L and R 1/4" outputs be set to send a mixed mono signal?

A: If you are mixing in Mono, you can use either or both of the balanced 1/4" outputs from the Zoom PodTrak P8 Portable Multitrack Podcast Recorder to send a mono balanced output.

Q: 4. Can this be powered from a 14.4 Anton bauer battery via the Powertap to LP-E6 adaptor? I use this for Small HD monitors, my camera. It has bigger capacity and less changing batt during long time lapse or sliding shots. I want things to be centralized from a 14.4 slim broadcast battery. What is the amp draw at 9v for this Slide Module v3?

A: Yes you can use a P-tap to LP-E6 adapter to power the Slide module from your Anton Bauer Batteries. it draws 2.2 Amps.

Q: 5. Can I used this with a BMCC 4K for video?

A: Yes, the Edelkrone FlexTILT Head v3 will support the BMCC 4K as long as the payload with the lens is under 5.5 pounds. The BMCC 4K weighs 1.59 pounds, so as long as the added lens is under 3.91 pounds, there will be no issue using the Edelkrone FlexTILT Head v3.

Q: 6. Would this allow me to live stream 6 different peoples audio via Stream Labs OBS?

A: Yes. All peoples connected to the mixer will be available to stream.

Q: 7. Is the preamp sound clean running it at the maximum 70db?

A: Yes, this device is designed for Podcasting, so the signal is very clean even at high gain settings.

Q: 8. I’m looking for a way to record a live podcast on stage. Can this mixer speak to a PA system?

A: The Zoom PodTrak P8 Portable Multitrack Podcast Recorder (BH # ZOPTP8) features a line level input.

Q: 9. Can I use this as a mic input while recording to the SD Card?

A: Yes. all audio inputs are available for recording to the SD card (mic and line inputs are available for recording to the SD card)

Q: 10. If shooting directly down on a subject, how far does the flextilt extend from the tripod?

A: The camera will stick out a total of 4" from the base of the tripod when using the FlexTILT Head v3 to aim the camera straight down.

[Phantom Power] This microphone and its sibling are excellent quality in the pricing sweet spot. Events are better with good acoustics which begin with a good mic.

[Supercardioid] I am using this for speech in HAM radio transmissions. My shack' is hard-surfaced and I got reports about a tin-can sound. I went with the e845 because of the 'popular price' and supercardioid polar pattern useful to reduce this effect. It worked! Of course mic-to-mouth positioning becomes more important. The net result for me is that I am getting many favorable 'signal reports' from HAMs I speak with. Several have asked about the mic and have ordered one for themselves. BTW, this replaced a Shure SM7B, and the e845 has worked better for my application. Less EQ is needed to get a balanced sound for my voice (actually, no EQ at all is working). Specifically the e845 is plugged into a Kenwood TS-590SG HF transceiver. Very happy with the e845.

[Supercardioid] For several years I've been pretty outspoken about preferring (any) Sennheiser handheld (835/45, 9, MD etc).. over their Shure counterparts. I've got a deep voice, but there's a significant amount of fry and rasp that comes through. (I do voice over/podcasting/comedy.. not a singer.. just to clarify).

But going back to what I was saying, the classic SM58 for example, its a good and solid mic, but for my voice.. it turns into a tug-of-war trying to tone down some of the really harsh tones that no one wants to hear for voice over, podcasting etc..

So I was pretty skeptical of the SR117.. I knew there was a lot of hype about it's flat response being extremely easy to EQ, but I've never owned a handheld condenser.

Now.. I'm never looking back. No background noise cleanup. It picks up my voice and only my voice even in a room with quite a bit of ambient sound, but it even seems to TAME some of that same uncomfortable grit/rasp/fry I was previously talking about. I don't know if it's because there's finally balance between the lows in my voice with that fry, or if this mic is just great at cutting back on sibilance.

But in either case, the amount of EQ needed to get this thing to the same ear-friendly experience as my go-to Sennheiser 945 was mind blowing effortless. I genuinely cannot believe Earthworks considers this to be a budget option, and if you're needing something for live or studio, I'll gladly throw my vote in for the hype of this microphone.

I haven't used it in a live setting, but when I turn on all of the fans, lights, computers etc in my studio.. the ambient room levels are extremely high, and if it's rejecting ALL of them with ease, I can only imagine it would handle the same feedback rejection in a live setting where the vocalist doesn't need anywhere near the amount of gain I use for just talking.

[Supercardioid] Using for events and weddings interviews. After intensive testing and using on job I can say it is very good quality recording in noise environment. You can record peoples without noise background. Lowe price should not misguide you.
