Installing the firmware update on Angelbird CFexpress cards requires an Angelbird CFexpress Card Reader. The successful update requires all components to be in sync, including the operating system with its drivers and software, the card reader, and your CFexpress Type B card. Communication between the firmware update tool and the card to be updated is only possible via an Angelbird CFexpress card reader chip. Any communication error would lead to an unsuccessful update.

[1] I've been using Angelbird AV Pro cards, but not the XT MK2 versions. They're pretty fast, but on the Z 9, shooting at 15 frames per second in lossless compressed raw (still waiting for DXO to accept high efficiency star!), could only manage about 4 seconds before slowing shooting. With this card, I shot 1000+ (that's over 60 seconds), and just stopped shooting, as the camera never slowed down! Such an improvement!

[1] So far, used for 3 family portrait sessions, over a thousand photos taken all in unprocessed raw. Browsing in the camera, transferring to the computer, worked smoothly, no problems.

[5 x 4.3 x 0.9"] I have two of these cards in my Z9, one in my z 6II, and this last one is for my z8. I love the size the price, & the reliability. Best bang for the Buck. Love these cards

[5 x 4.3 x 0.9"] I recently returned from a trip to photograph wildlife, I really enjoyed not worrying about my card/s filling up while shooting. I've run into this issue in the past with the smaller cards, even owning several 160GB cards.

On the Sony A1 (maybe I need to update the firmware) the camera shows 9999 images available on a formatted card. It's really about 15k as I shot for two entire days before it moved off the 9999 mark....almost 5000 images.

It's worth the investment in my opinion.

I'm thinking about picking up another one of these as the price is hard to beat for the capacity.

Oh... write speeds... ZERO issues shooting 20-30 FPS for long bursts... great experience overall.

[4 TB] Test setup:

Z9 8k, 60p RAW - high quality setting
2 recordings that continue (46 minutes) until the card is filled. Quick reformat in camera.

5780 Mbs/722.5 MBs data rate.

Hot card warning 20 minutes into first recording. Continued into 2nd recording. Camera was slightly warm. No other issues or problems.

Angled Bird 2TB MK2 was flawless. Worked perfectly.

[PCI-Express 3.0] I was worried about trying a card other than Sony, but I wanted the size and the speed without the cost. Will the quality be there?

Well, the speed is as good or better than the Sony. As for quality, feels well made, and in my immense use of two of these cards there has not been any indication of trouble whatsoever.

My only unexpected issue is that the card may be a bit too large. When used in a Sony camera, depending on media settings, you will have space for 10,000 files or more. However, the Sony available space counter only goes to 9,999. So you may need to take several hundred to several thousand photos before you see the 9,999 reduce to 9,998 and lower.
