Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this work with the Sony a6600?

A: Yes, this manual focus and manual aperture lens will work on any Sony APS-C mirrorless camera. As of March 2020, these: a6600, a6500, a6400, a6300, a6100, a6000, a5100, a5000, a3500, a3000, NEX-7, NEX-6, NEX-5 (all varieties), and NEX-3 (all varieties). It may also be used on full frame Sony E-mount cameras such as the Sony a7 (all varieties) and a9 (both MK I and MKII) series cameras. However, on those full frame cameras it will only render an image in the center of the frame, leaving black edges and corners like this unless you decide to crop the image: https://bit.ly/2wuIH46 Please remember to set your camera to "Release without Lens" in the setup menu.

Q: 2. Does this produce a full circular image on Sony FF cameras or does the circle crop at top and bottom?

A: This lens only covers a Super 35mm or APS-C sized sensor. It will not cover the sensor on a Full Frame Sony camera, the camera will need to be set to a Cropped Mode.

Q: 3. hi there, will this lens work on sony a7?

A: Yes, you may use the Rokinon 8mm f/2.8 UMC Fisheye II Lens for Sony E Mount on the Sony Alpha a7 Mirrorless Digital Camera. However, do note that while this is designed for the Sony E-mount, the above fisheye lens is designed for use on Sony cameras that use the APS-C 1.5x cropped sensor. As the Sony a7 uses a full-frame sensor, you would have to use the lens in the APS-C Size Capture Mode, which is located in the camera's menu under Menu Custom Settings (symbol of a sprocket) APS-C Size Capture. When set to ON , it would capture an APS-C size equivalent sensor picture using the Rokinon lens (do note this will reduce the maximum captured resolution from 24 megapixels to 10 megapixels, as it is cropping the full-frame sensor to the size of an APS-C sensor). You may choose to set this to OFF to use the full sensor, but this would result in a larger black vignette around the edge of the image where the APS-C lens' smaller imaging circle blocks light from exposing the outer pixels on the full-frame sensor. (The above applies to all APS-C lenses used on a full-frame Sony digital camera.)

Q: 4. what is difference between the fish eye I and the fish eye II ? thanks

A: The 8mm f/2.8 UMC Fisheye II lens is the second generation of this lens, and has one more aspherical lens and one more ED element than its predecessor, for a total of 11 elements in 8 groups (2 ASP and 3 ED).

Q: 5. Will this lens work with a Canon 6D?

A: Probably not but I am not sure. I will let someone else answer this one. I use it for a mirror-less camera (Sony A-6300)

Q: 6. What about exposure metering? Will exposure metering be functional on my Xt-3 or do I need a separate light meter?

A: This lens will meter normally with your X-T3 just like any other X mount lens.

Q: 7. Will this work on my Canon EOS M without any adapters? Thanks.

A: Yes and no adapter need. It was a EF-M mount will fit on EOS M to M3 no problem. Hope it help.

Q: 8. Is the hood removable?

A: The built in lens hood is not removable.

Q: 9. Can this lens be used on a Nikon Z9?

A: Yes Meike 7.5mm f/2.8 Fisheye Lens for Nikon Z is compatible with the Nikon Z9. The Nikon Z9 is full frame though and this is a crop aps-c lens so it will crop the full frame sensor. Less than half of the available megapixels will be used. The angle of view will increase by 1.5x

Q: 10. Is this a Full Frame lens? Will it work with a Sony A7r?

A: if you can accept cropped version, it can function well

[Canon EF-M] For the price you’re getting a real good deal. I bought this for my fujifilm x e2 I’ll attach pictures as soon as I have a chance. But for the price you can’t complain.

[Manual Focus] So far, this lens is the sharpest FE lens I've used. Sharp all around.

[APS-C] I use it with a SonyA7III, and I get a full circle image; which is what I wanted. All I have to do is push in a little to get it to fit the frame fully. It’s manual and it’s actually pretty sharp and an interesting toy lens to play with.

[APS-C] If you don't mind manual focus this is a great little lens. very inexpensive and compact. it makes my mirrorless camera a great option to carry around. the quality of the pics blows away any smartphone, not to mention the ability to take certain pics a smartphone never could take.

[Canon EF-M] Found this lens used here for about $100....it certainly provided more than 100 dollars of entertainment and fun learning how best to compose shots and use it. You can crop pretty nice 4x5 format from the center and still have decent resolution. Mechanicals are good, but it is easy to accidentally change the aperture since it is not click stopped...but a minor issue...it just makes you actually pay attention to what you are doing which is what we all could benefit from a bit.

[Canon EF-M] Good lens for the price.
It's completely made from metal, everything is tight in place. The focus is a little too tight for my liking but a little use will loosen it up.
You have to be conscious about the 190° capturing angle though, its very easy to capture the hand on the focus ring or your feet.
I highly recommend this lens.

The pictures were taken with a Sony Alpha 6000.

[APS-C] Non clicking Aperture ring. Heavy and solid. On canon apsc the edges of the field of view just clip the top and bottom of frame. Seems sharp even around open aperture. Amazing something like this exists at this price

[APS-C] The fisheye takes me away from my usual type of photos, and I am learning to see differently as a result of this experience. It took me over a week to decide to keep it, and I plan to use it only for specialied portfolios, but it is fun. As for the lens, it's sharp, light, and easy to use. And, for me, it's affordable enough to decide to keep it. Far from a must, it is taking some time to learn how to fit it into my style. But I'm learning and enjoying the process.
