[Manual Focus] I was skeptical at first. I had never used an MFT lens before and seeing how cheap this thing was scared me a bit. After placing it on my Cine Camera I was surprised at how sharp everything was and how close I could get to my subject. The built in aperture ring is incredible too.

[APS-C] Great for BMPCC, the wide angle works well for the MFT crop.

[f/16] Does everything I need. Beautiful wild angles. The quality of the product is amazing, I take it everywhere. Did great in the mountains of Utah in very cold and snowy conditions. All in all perfect for me, and an amazing price!

[APS-C] This is my first Meike lens and it has been a great experience. The MFT mount is solid on the camera, focus and aperture ring is smooth and the lens produces really nice clean images. Built quality is also top notch. The one thing i'm not a fan of is the Front Lens Cap it comes with, i will be swapping that out for a Simmod slip on cap. Will be purchasing the 16 & 25mm in the near future.

[97°] Everybody using an MFT camera for filmmaking (especially those with the Blackmagic Pocket 4K), should have a set of Cinema Prime lenses. Zooms are for the 'Instagram Generation.' If you are going to make narratives you need a firm grasp of film grammar. Prime lenses are the fundamentals of film grammar.

For a while Veydra had the high ground on MFT primes, but they have left this earth, never to return. Now Meike has stepped up with their set of Cinema Prime Lenses. They are actually really good, and the prices are incredibly low for the build quality and image sharpness. The 12mm Prime is an excellent lens - it is in the medium focal length range with an MFT camera. It works very well with my Blackmagic 4K camera. I plan on acquiring a full set soon.

[97°] Having recently added a Fuji X-E3 to my Fuji camera collection (I also have an X-T1 and an X100), I was looking for a pancake prime lens in the “normal” focal length of 40-50 mm (full frame equivalent). Having grown up on fully manual 35 mm film cameras, I still enjoy an all metal, manual focus prime lens. On one of my Fuji discussion forums, a number of X-E3 owners highly recommended this lens. The price for this lens is less than I have spent for a quality UV filter for some of my expensive Fuji lenses, so it was a no-brainer purchase.

I was pleasantly surprised to find the lens arrived in perfect condition, solid metal construction, internals clean, glass clean, focus and aperture rings rotate smoothly and it mounted to the camera body solidly.

A much bigger surprise is the joy of use and image quality. My X-E3, with this lens, has a similar, but smaller form factor than my X100. It is far easier to focus than my two 7 Artisans manual lenses. Image quality is excellent, and although there is noticeable vignetting at f/2.8, I find it adds an artistic touch to my images. I’ve had experience with this focal length before (my first 35 mm film camera was a Canonet rangefinder with a 40 mm f/2.8 pancake prime) and I find the 42 mm full frame equivalent focal length to be far more useful as a general purpose lens than a 50mm, which I find just a tad too long for my style of photography.

The image I chose to attach to this review is a SOOC JPEG test shot in Acros at 12,800 ISO and f/2.8. I love the way this lens renders and it has quickly become my favorite manual focus lens.

[f/2] For anyone looking to do some serious indie filmmaking or short films or videography or even just YouTube recordings, this lens is really good to capture your entire scene. It is on an mft mount so be aware on a Gh5 or bmpcc4k it's closer to a 24mm but all you really need is a good 24mm prime for solid wide angle shots

[Manual Focus] Optically, it is excellent corner to corner, even open all the way at T/2.2. By T/2.8, it's pretty much perfect (at least for 4K video requirements). Barrel distortion, chromatic aberration, and distortion in general are all minimal. The focus and aperture gears move smoothly with the perfect amount of resistance. This lens is built very solidly - feels great to handle. However, be warned, because it is so solid it is fairly large and heavy. If you are hoping to have a tiny wide-angle lens with a small front element on a small MFT sensor, this isn't the lens for you.

[APS-C] Really nice lens. Great build quality. Camera will not take a photo nor record video unless you set your camera to "shutter release without lens" so be sure to do that first.
