The silver STC-1S from Sontronics is a stereo mic set for the stage and studio that delivers high-quality recordings without breaking the bank. Designed in Britain, this matched pair of flexible small-diaphragm condenser microphones can be used on a wide variety of instruments and has been engineered to deliver sonic results rivaling far more expensive pencil mics. The mics are well suited to recording acoustic guitars, pianos, choirs, strings, woodwinds, percussion, brass, drum overheads, ensembles, and more.

Each mic features a 3-stage high-pass filter (Off / 75 Hz / 150 Hz), allowing you to reduce unwanted low-end, while a 3-stage pad (Off / -10 dB / -20 dB) lets you record loud sources at up to 137 dB. A stereo mounting bar, mic clips, foam windshields, and a wooden box for transport and storage are included.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. International warranty ? User in singapore.

A: The limited manufacturer's warranty provided with the Rycote OM-08 does not include any stipulations regarding country of purchase; the warranty terms provide coverage for all purchases from an authorized reseller (such as B&H).

Q: 2. Is there a mount for this microphone on a HVX-255?

A: Due to the weight and diameter of the Rode NT4 it is difficult to shock mount this mic on a camera. You are able however to adapt the incuded stand mount the RM3 to your cameras shoe with a simple adapter. The Tether Tools hot shoe adapter features a 3/8 male thread that will support the stand mount using the 3/8 thread adapter that was included with the stand mount.

Q: 3. I noted that this microphone has 5 pins but my audio recorders are both 3-pin (Marantz PMD661 and Zoom H6). Can I purchase an adapter cable? This may be dumb question. I'm new to this aspect of recording, and I can't seem to find a definitive answer on any website.

A: Three reasons I bought the NT4 is that it comes with a five pin adapter to two three pin plugs, also a five pin adapter to 3.5mm audio adapter and it can be run off an internal 9 volt battery. None of my digital recorders supply Phantom Power . The audio level at analog output is more than sufficient to connect to my Sony PCM-D50.

Q: 4. I recently purchased the SONY PXW-X70 PROFESSIONAL XDCAM CAMCORDER. It comes with an XLR handle with microphone holder, but no mic. Is this the right one to pair with it? Are there other (better) options? I want to outfit the camera right. Thanks. I am referring to the Sony ECM-MS2 Stereo Electret Condenser Microphone BTW.

A: The correct mic for your PXW-X70 would depend on your application. The ECM-MS2 is a stereo mic. It is compatible with your camera, and great for recording audio such as general ambience, music and situations where left/right positional information is required. For interview and speech recording in front of the camera many prefer a mono shotgun mic such as the Rode NTG-1 due to its tighter pickup pattern and minimal off axis pickup. a href= http://bhpho.to/1hg4l94 target= _blank http://bhpho.to/1hg4l94/a

Q: 5. What's the best blimp/dead for this microphone?

A: The Rycote Mini Windjammer provides optimum wind diffusion for smaller microphones. Like the standard Windjammer, the Mini Windjammer provides 10 - 12dB extra protection over standard windscreens. This Windjammer accommodates the Rode NT4.

Q: 6. HelloDoes the microphone includes Remote Audio 5-Pin Stereo XLR Female to Dual XLR Male Y-Cable - 18?

A: What'sIn the Box:Shure VP88 - Cardioid Stereo Condenser MicrophoneFoam WindscreenSwivel-Stand AdapterMulti-Connector Y-Cable: Included 'Y' cable with 5-pin female XLR connector on microphone end, 2x 3-pin male XLR connectors on equipment ends 6V BatteryZippered Carrying/Storage BagLimited 2-Year Warranty

Q: 7. I recently purchased the ECM MS2 mic and no where in the instructions or users manual does it tell you how to hook up phantom power. I have the NEX FS700 camera that this mic is for and both channels can be set to use phantom power, but that is if you are using two separate mics. How do I properly set up phantom power for this mic?

A: Phantom power will be On for both XLR inputs so just plug in the microphone in on the left channel of the camera. The microphone disables phantom power for the right capsule if it is not connected to the camera.

Q: 8. How long are the XLR cables?

A: The ECM-MS2 from Sony features a permanently attached 15 cable.

Q: 9. How long is the 5-pin to 2 3-pin XLR stereo breakout cable that is included?

A: The Superlux S502MKII ORTF Stereo Condenser Microphone (BH # SU502MKII) includes an approximately 0.6 meter breakout cable assembly.

Q: 10. what is the main difference between ECM-MS2 and ECM-VG1?

A: The ECM-MS2 has Stereo (M-S) and Mono capabilities, and the ECM-VG is Mono only. The ECM-MS2 is much shorter in length ( 5.5"), making it more suitable for placing on a smaller camera and the ECM-VG is over 8" in length. Both of these microphones require phantom power (40-52 V DC).

[Cardioid] Great addition to my BMPCC4K, Sound Devices 702, and RDE NTG3 gear. I needed a mic to capture some ambient sound, and live music. This mic impressed me with both. Works great also for dialogue when you need it fast. I had no problem mounting it on my camera (mounted on a stationary tripod). And I was ok moving around with it as well. Running and gunning is not impossible but keep in mind that may be somewhat difficult.

[Solid-State] I was looking at the NT4 and the AT825. I wanted a mic thatcould record ambient environments well, as well as pin pointdetails for foley recording. This mic blew away myexpectations. For the price the sound is amazing. The stereoimage is fantastic and it's very accurate. Yes, the stylingis funky compared to the AT825, but it's an amazing micotherwise, and it's expandable. Do yourself a favor and getthis if you are on a budget of $500. It already comes withnecessary accessories, so it's a no brainer.Awesome Mic. Problems Encountered: Finding a shockmount to fit it's 32mm girth. Items I Recommend: Marantz PMD660, a shock mount with pistol grip and tripod

[Phantom Power] I used two of these mics for a concert. I set one high above the choir and another one high in the back of the room, for ambient audio. I used them with a Zoom H6 and they worked great. I felt it captured a pretty full sound, though my clients asked for a bit more low end in editing. Your mileage may vary depending on client demands. I really like that they comes with cases. It's great to not have to buy another item just to protect the mics. They're heavy mics, so I wouldn't recommend using them on a camera. I put mine on lighting stands (I didn't like the tall mic stands for sale). It's pretty neat that it can be used with a 9V battery. Don't forget to turn them on first though! I hadn't really used mics with on-off switches before, so I'll need to get in the habit. Otherwise, I'm looking forward to using these for years to come.

[Silver] Love this microphone with my acoustic guitar. It sounds wonderful. It's a hearty microphone, a bit bigger than I imagined. I bought the optional fuzzy windscreen too. It takes a 9 volt battery or you can use phantom power from your board or recording device.

[Solid-State] Used for field/outside recording, this is a nice stereo microhpone for a middle cost. Phantom 24V is very useful.

[End Address] WOW! I'm using a Sony PCM-D100 stereo field recorder which has it all excepting dedicated balance XLR inputs. It does however have a 3.5mm PCR input and after a lot of research and aided by the really knowledgeable audio gurus at B & H, was able to determine that the Rode NT4 would prove to be an excellent match and after trying it, am astounded by the recordings I am experiencing!

[Solid-State] Naturally if a person is going to review a microphone the most helpful thing would be for people to hear it. Unfortunately after posting a number of reviews, I found out that they were all rejected because I put a link in to you tube. We used it to record a blue grass band named kevin pace and the early edition.(kpearlyedition). I record them to put on you tube. I thought the mic gave us great sound. I suppose if you went to you tube you could hear this mic.

[Silver] This has to be one of the better mics I've come across at the mid price point that gets you professional results in the field. This mic is fantastic at recording true stereo (Left right and you also hear what's going through from one to the other, through the centre field too!) and the noise floor is not noticeable in most atmosphere field recordings I've done to date. I've used this mic on professional film shoots for television and film and it works wonderfully. Every custom field fx recordist should have one in their sound bag. Some of the high end mics (DPA 4011A matched stereo pairs or the Neuaman stereo mics) would top this mic but those are thousands of dollars more. This mic, does the job just fine.

[Cardioid] The sound is very clean and detailed. Sensitivity is a bit higher than average AF condensor microphones. Resulting in a much lower final noise level. The mic is really small and would be very unobtrusive in music related video productions.
