A: The Amaran COB 60x S Bi-Color LED Monolight (B&H# AMAPA0020A20) has a new COB LED assembly with different characteristics from those of its prededecessor, the 60x (note that there is no S in the name of the older one). The newer COB LED assembly of the 60x S offers better color, but also a different beam spread from that of the earlier 60x (no S). For that reason, the answer to your question depends on whether or not the Hyper Reflector (Mini) is used with each light. Specifically, the original Amaran COB 60x (no S) is slightly brighter with no reflector added than the newer Amaran COB 60x S. However, due to the update, the newer 60x S actually produces a slightly brighter center spot than the original 60x (no S) when the Hyper Reflector (Mini) is used.
