Q: 2. Is there a filter holder/system for this?

A: Unfortunately, there are no filter holders/systems being offered for this lens just yet. Please check periodically for updates as they become available.

Q: 3. When manual focusing on my Pentax 15 x 30 mm f/2.8 the focusing ring will keep turning past infinity. I never noticed this before, is this normal..?

A: Mine does it as well

Q: 4. I have a BENRO GH-2 Gimbal Head,Will this cover fit Ok?

A: Fits perfectly and is a great complement to avoid friction and shock

Q: 5. Is the silver part of the lens on the silver version made out of metal or it is plastic coated with silver layer?

A: The Pentax HD PENTAX-D FA* 70-200mm f/2.8 ED DC AW Silver Edition Lens is manufactured from a machined aluminum barrel and has a finely textured finish. The silver finish is simply painted aluminum metal.

Q: 6. Can the tripod mount ring be removed?

A: No, the tripod mount ring on the Pentax smc FA 645 300mm f/4 ED (IF) Lens cannot be removed.

Q: 7. Is the removable part of the tripod collar compatible with the Pentax DA 300 f4? I lost that part of that 300mm lens.

A: The tripod collars are not compatible. They are two different lenses.

Q: 8. Would you recommend this lens for portraits?

A: For portraits, a longer lens such as 85mm or more is recommended. A 15-30mm would be too distorted for portraiture. This 85mm would be a better option: https://bhpho.to/3dldCD4

Q: 9. What is the length of the tripod collar?

A: Almost 4 inches (almost 10 cm) long and hangs down 1.75 (4.5 cm) inches from the lens.

Q: 10. I really love my K3 and do pet photography with it. I need a good zoom that's quick on AF. The Pentax smc PENTAX-DA* 50-135mm f/2.8 ED (IF) SDM Lens just doesn't autofocus quickly enough. The web page for this new Pentax 70-200 says The Quick-Shift Focus System allows you to first use autofocus to acquire general focus on a subject, then instantly refine your focus position manually without the need for an AF/MF selector. Is this Pentax again not being able to pinpoint focus the way Canon, Nikon, Tamron and Sigma seem capable of, or do we have a genuine capability here for instant lock on moving objects equivalent to say the Tamron 70-200?

A: The new 70-200 is a fast lens but so is the 50-135mm lens. Both are f/2.8 which helps the focus speed. But the cameras focus system does have a very large part to how fast and accurate it can focus.Just to compare the K-3 has 27 Phase Detection autofocus points and the Nikon D7200 has 51 Phase Detection points and 15 cross-type focus points. So in most cases the Nikon Model will focus faster and more accurate.

Cover fits the lens well, protecting the lens from bumps and scratches in the kit bag. Also reduces the thermal shock to the lens when working in the polar regions and is gentler on the fingers in the polar regions.

I have been using LensCoat covers on my lenses for a few years now and have not looked back. Lenses are expensive, and this helps provide protection for my investment. The camo pattern also helps a lot around wildlife.

I've been looking for something like this for a long time. I wanted at backpack that I could transport a tripod and a small amount of gear when taking a short hike. This fits the bill. I wish it had a slightly larger gear capacity, but it works for what it is.

Cover fits like a glove. All sections fit tight and take some effort to get in place. But this means the cover is not going anywhere. Sections are available for the entire lens, but I chose to leave the focus and control ring uncovered. I just prefer the feel of the actual lens. Would recommend this for anyone who want some extra protection for their lens.

One of the sharpest lenses available for the Pentax 645z. I use this lens extensively for wildlife and long reach landscape. Also great for candid portrait pics of people from a distance. Excellent bokeh. Balances well with the 645z and handheld photography is easy, even without image stabilization.

I bought several of this kind tripod backpacks ever since I discovered them. So far they are the best way to carry my big tripods to day hikes. You could even leave the camera on the tripod when you walk, just remember to lock the head so the camera won't swing around behind your head.

I use this with the Canon EF 400mm F4 DO and it is really an essential accessory for the lens. The Canon one is bulky, heavy, and is a pain to get on and off. This one is lighter, quick to get on and off, and can be put on the lens when in storage with the hood in reverse, hood on normally, or even just over the front of the lense without the hood. It stays one and does what it should. The little loop on it is also useful for attaching a cord to something like your tripod ring so you don't lose it or let it fall on the ground. This is also the most economical and reasonably priced product in the entire LensCoat line of products in my opinion. At sub $30, there should be no hesitation in purchasing this to protect your lens.

Very good sharpness even at full aperture. Minimum focus of 3 meters: it could have been shorter. Interesting freehand manipulation possible from 800 iso
