[5] this one allows the use of wider backgrounds and its much sturdier then the original. I will probably sell the older/smaller one.

[1.5 lb] I was a little worried, this was the second most expensive backdrop I have ever purchased. The other one was a 14'x10' White backdrop.

When I first opened it up I was struck by two thoughts. First, the material was very nice and felt high quality, there were no creases, and was easy to hang. Second, the printing looked poor and highly pixelated.

Once I got it up on my stand and took a step back I realized that the pixelated look was just because I was inches away. From even 3 to 4 feet away the pixelation disappears and then I was struck by how good the printing was. Usually, when you order a cheap 30-50 amazon special backdrop the colors are not as they are shown on the product page, but this was exactly as shown.

The grommets are very well-placed and strong. I was not using a Westcott stand so I uses a clamp instead of the grommet in the middle but it worked very well. Next time I am looking for a backdrop I will check Westcott first and will probably get an X-Drop stand so I can set everything up faster.

[Grommets] Works as advertised, takes minutes to set up and to breakdown. I foresee lots of usage.

[1.5 lb] Compact, lightweight and easily assembled. The footprint is adjustable and can be used in tight spaces. I do recommend using the 8×8 backgrounds instead of the longer ones. Either one works though, so I do recommend this. Also I believe that this is easily transported.

[1] This system is super light weight, and comes with a backpack type carrying case. Can easily set this up in just a few minutes! Love the fact that you don’t have to extend the back base out all the way, great for smaller spaces! Definitely Recommend!

[Polyester] Excellent backdrop stand. The original X-Drop was well designed but extremely flimsy, too easy to accidentally break. This new one the pro hits that sweet spot where it is still very lightweight but also robust. As an added bonus it also takes Westcott's new line of wider backdrops designed for the new pro model (as well as the prior backdrops).

One of the components was damaged in shipping, but still usable. I sent a copy of my B&H order to Westcott and explained the problem. They Fedex'd to me a replacement component that arrived within a couple of days.

Excellent customer service. Very highly recommended.

[5] I recently purchased the X-Drop Pro backdrop system and it's a well-designed product. It's lightweight and portable and can be set up in a few minutes. One feature that makes this system very practical is the option to snug up the rear leg to get the stand within about a foot of a wall. That's extremely useful in tight spaces.

The unit comes in a durable case that has enough extra room to hold a few cloth backdrops. I bought two backdrops and I noticed that the canvas version photographs with slightly more detail than the cloth version. The cloth version is easy to fold whereas the canvas backdrop must be rolled. Any creases from folding the cloth backdrops are virtually eliminated once the backdrop is under the tension of the stand.

Even though it only takes a few minutes to swap out backdrops, I plan to buy another X-Drop Pro stand for my studio so I don't have to change backdrops as often.


I highly recommend the X-Drop Pro, despite the fact that it's a proprietary system. On the plus side, it's reasonably priced and for a modest investment, one can have beautiful and versatile backdrop options.
