The 49mm Slim Multicoated Circular Polarizer Filterfrom 49mm Slim Multicoated Circular Polarizer Filterreduces reflections and glare by filtering out light that has become polarized due to reflection from a non-metallic surface. A polarizing filter arranges and filters this directionally polarized light perpendicularly to reflected light, allowing for the absorption of much of this light, resulting in a reduction of glare and reflections from non-metallic surfaces and an increase in the saturation of skies and foliage.

This filter is constructed from optical glass for high resolution and color fidelity and has eight layers of nano-multicoating on each glass surface to prevent internal ghosting and reflections and optimize light transmission. The surface is also water resistant for easy cleaning and for use in inclement environments and locations. It features a slim, 5mm-wide aluminum alloy filter ring, so it can be used with ultra-wide-angle lenses without vignetting. The filter ring can be rotated to adjust the intensity of the polarization effect and has a 49mm front thread for adding additional filters, lens hoods, or other lens accessories.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this filter work on the Canon RF 28-70 f2 lens? The lens has a 95mm filter thread but its coarse I believe

A: The PolarPro 95mm QuartzLine Circular Polarizer Filter is compatible with the Canon RF 28-70mm f/2 L USM Lens.

Q: 2. Hello,I am not sure about this square filter - is it necessary filter to be rotated as we use round circular polarizer filters?Or this filter stays still in horizontal position only?Thank you.Best regards,Rado

A: Yes, a square circular polarizing filter will still need to be rotated just like a round one. To rotate this filter, you will need a specialized matte box that has a rotating filter stage. The 6 x 6 Universal Matte Box Package from Cavision: http://bhpho.to/JYrd2j

Q: 3. Since this is a circular polarizer, does that mean the amount of polarization will be affected by the amount you rotate it?

A: Yes as you rotate it inside the filter holder purchased separately you set the amount of polarization. But you would rotate a linear polarizer the same way to set the polarization.

Q: 4. What dose it mean as special order? Is that mean there will be a delay on the delivery or will take extra time for fabrication if so how many days ?

A: This is a Special Ordered item that is not in stock. The Expected availability: 7-10 business days

Q: 5. WILL THIS FILTER WORK ON A LEICA 28MM-70MM R LENS?

A: Yes the B+W High-Transmission MRC-Nano Master Circular Polarizer Filter (60mm) should fit the Leica 28-70mm f/3.5-4.5 Vario-Elmar-R lens

Q: 6. Is it water resistant? Does it have water repellent coating?

A: The coatings associated with the PolarPro 82mm QuartzLine Circular Polarizer Filter also result in an improved beading effect when in contact with water or oil, allowing for more efficient cleaning.

Q: 7. Is it me or is the textprinted on the wrong (back) side of the filter? Circular pols only work one direction (not an issue when its in a threaded mount but this is reversible) and when I use this one in the correct way the writing on the glass faces the back. Anyone else notice this?

A: The word text u mean the numbers written on the filter. Stil i didnt notice it but its working perfectly for me. I dont think its printing mistake

Q: 8. Is this an ND-16 Filter?

A: No. An ND-16 reduces exposure about 4 stops. This is a polarizer that will only reduce a mere 1.3 stops. This is mainly used to make skies more contrasty, remove glare and reflections from things like glass and water. If you're looking into an ND-16 take a look at this instead. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1418315-REG/polarpro_77_nd16_pl_quartzline_77mm_nd16_pl_filter.html This is a ND-16 with a polarizer (still just 4 stops of reduced light). It's a 2-in-1.

Q: 9. What does it means that this filter " designed for lenses with focal lengths of 70mm or less. " Is ther any harm in using it with long telephoto lenses? Will it harm the image quality?

A: Anything above 70mm we don't recommend using the Circular Polarizer because you may not be able to achieve focus.

Q: 10. What is the difference between this and a Kaesemann polarizer? B&H doesn't sell Kaesemann in 62mm, but this costs the same.

A: The Kaesemann series filters are currently being phased out. We have no 62mm size left and soon other sizes will be gone too. The Master series has the same optical quality at the prior Kaesemann series but they added a better grip due to optimized filter ring knurling and it is grease-free for easy rotation.

[49 mm] I got this to pair with a Tokina 14-20mm f/2.0 EF-S lens. It does a great job and the lens sharpness doesn't suffer noticeably from the extra glass. One downside is that if there is a strong light source like the sun in the frame, it causes some nasty circular flares in the image, but this is a problem with every other filter I've used as well, so I'm not sure I'd ding it a star for that.

[49 mm] The saying is really true YOu get what you pay for. I used it for landscape photography. It does not really degrade the lights and it makes more saturation in my photo.

[0.115 lb] I’m in brand new newbie to photography, and was told I needed a good polarizing filter. Seeing as I’m a brand junkie, I of course had to outfit my existing Sony gear. Did some research and this filter was the best choice. I’ve been using it on my Sony 100mm-400mm G Master lens, and it’s been great. It helps clear up my pictures depending on the environment and settings I’m in, and has lots of other benefits so far as well. If you’re looking to stick with Sony, this is a great choice, and a great price. Glad I bought it!

[0.115 lb] I'm honestly surprised at how good this Polarizer is for the money. No discernible color shift or noticeable sharpness loss on my copy and it just does what it's says it's supposed to.

[0.115 lb] Another excellent product from Heliopan. This is NOT a cheaply made filter. This is quality German engineering. I lost very little light transmission. Colors are rendered superbly beautiful. This is a great filter for landscape photography.

The rotating ring is slightly too tight for my preference, but I am sure it will loosen up after a while. Even though this is a slim line, when stacked together with another slim line UV filter, I get minor vignetting at 24mm on my Nikkor Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S. This issue disappears at 27mm. It is easily fixed during post. No complaint otherwise. Thank you, Heliopan!
