The 52mm Slim Multicoated Circular Polarizer Filterfrom 52mm Slim Multicoated Circular Polarizer Filterreduces reflections and glare by filtering out light that has become polarized due to reflection from a non-metallic surface. A polarizing filter arranges and filters this directionally polarized light perpendicularly to reflected light, allowing for the absorption of much of this light, resulting in a reduction of glare and reflections from non-metallic surfaces and an increase in the saturation of skies and foliage.

This filter is constructed from optical glass for high resolution and color fidelity and has eight layers of nano-multicoating on each glass surface to prevent internal ghosting and reflections and optimize light transmission. The surface is also water resistant for easy cleaning and for use in inclement environments and locations. It features a slim, 5mm-wide aluminum alloy filter ring, so it can be used with ultra-wide-angle lenses without vignetting. The filter ring can be rotated to adjust the intensity of the polarization effect and has a 52mm front thread for adding additional filters, lens hoods, or other lens accessories.

A: A corresponding size lens cap with a center-pinch, Snap-On style will work with the lens filter over the lens.

Q: 4. I am interested in purchasing filters: polarized filter as well as a ND filter. There are so many to choose from - any suggestions?Hoya vs B&W ? What specifications should I compare? I am prepared to spend the extra money for the quality that best suits my current (beginner) and future needs. Camera Nikon D750 lens Nikkor 24-120.

A: I use both Hoya and B&W filters and are equally satisfied with them. Don't use polarizing filters for wide angle lenses.

Q: 5. How many stops of light transmission are lost by this filter?

A: The light lose on the B+W High-Transmission MRC-Nano Master Circular Polarizer Filter is 1-1.5 f/stops.

Q: 6. Where are these manufactured? How many stops do you lose? Is it indexed as you turn the circular polarizer so you can understand you're settings in some manner?

[52 mm] love this Polarizer, low profile helps eliminate vignetting. your lens cap will not fit but you dont want to leave it on anyways.

[52 mm] I'm honestly surprised at how good this Polarizer is for the money. No discernible color shift or noticeable sharpness loss on my copy and it just does what it's says it's supposed to.

[Glass] I got this to pair with a Tokina 14-20mm f/2.0 EF-S lens. It does a great job and the lens sharpness doesn't suffer noticeably from the extra glass. One downside is that if there is a strong light source like the sun in the frame, it causes some nasty circular flares in the image, but this is a problem with every other filter I've used as well, so I'm not sure I'd ding it a star for that.
