Get that prized ribbon sound on your electric guitar, saxophone, or brass with the Delta 2 Ribbon Microphone from Sontronics. Unlike traditional ribbon designs that wither and die when exposed to phantom power, the Delta 2 actually requires it, using the voltage to power its specially designed capsule and custom-wound transformer to deliver a rich, robust sound for both studio recordings and live performances.

The single ribbon capsule offers a figure-of-eight pickup pattern that picks up sound from both sides of the mic, allowing the mic to capture both the primary sound source and additional room tone. With the ability to handle maximum SPLs of up to 140 dB, the Delta 2 offers a sturdier alternative to the delicate ribbons of the past, allowing you to place it closer to loud sound sources—including blisteringly loud guitar amps. A sophisticated shockmount is included that effectively isolates the mic from vibrations and handling noise while leaving the mic element completely uncovered.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I want to use it in Nigeria. Please, is the charging AC volt 120-230V or 110-120v?

A: The EcoFlow Delta 2 Portable Power Station is 100-120v only.

Q: 2. I am considering to order a FetHead for my dynamic mic and wondering if there will be any sound or gain difference between 1) when plugging the FetHead into my mixer/recorder(Zoom F4) first and then plugging the XLR cable to the mic and 2) when plugging the cable into my Zoom F4 first and then plugging the FetHead into my mic? I am not sure if plugging the FetHead into the mixer/recorder first is even possible or not because all the YouTube reviewers use their FetHeads directly on their mics.

A: if you plug in the fathead at your mixer, you would be amplifying the noise level from your cable run as well as your mic level. The fatheads use is to get it as close to your micrphone as possible, prior to your cable run. If youre simply trying to boost gain on a short , noiseless cable run, either end is fine I suppose.

Q: 3. Will the Triton Audio FetHead In-Line Microphone Preamp work with the Sony ECM-44B - Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphone?

A: The Sony ECM-44B is a condenser but can't be phantom powered. The ECM-44B requires an internal AA battery thus the FetHead Regular will work fine. If you want to use an ECM-55B or ECM-77B you'll need the FetHead Phantom unless you want to locally power the mic with an AA battery. Once locally powered, the mic will behave like a standard dynamic mic.

Q: 4. is this suitable for powering video production systems with mirrorless cameras, BMD monitors, and a Zoom F8n audio recorder?

A: Yes, the EcoFlow Delta 2 Portable Power Station can power multiple devices that have wall plugs as well as USB. Keep in mind of the run time that you require based on the power your gear requires. See below: Charges & Runtimes 10W light: 31 hours 40W fan, 40W CPAP: 16 hours 120W refrigerator: 7-14 hours 1300W microwave: 36 minutes 1080W electric drill, 1100W chop saw: 42 minutes 1400W circular saw, 1260W electric hammer: 36 minutes 11Wh phone: 89 charges 16Wh camera: 60 charges 40Wh drone: 25 charges

Q: 5. Anyone have experience using the 4038 to record flugelhorn?

A: The Coles Microphones 4038 Studio Ribbon Microphone should do a very good job to capture the sound from a flugelhorn. It is compatible for recording horns and brass instruments such as trumpet, trombone, saxophone, baritone saxophone, and soprano saxophone, so it should work very well for flugelhorn too.

Q: 6. How stiff is the flexible arm?

A: Very stiff. So stiff that the first thing I did was try to reposition by holding the clamp and the clamp snapped right at the drill hole in the handle. So important to note you can only position by holding the arm by itself. This is a great product but the clamp is the weak point. BTW the clamp just bolts on so I just got a metal one at home depot for 2.99 and switched it out. After boring a hole in seconds handle and breaking that sibe off to.

Q: 7. What's included in the box?

A: This microphone comes with the following:Cascade Microphones FAT HEAD II Ribbon Microphone (Brown/Gold)Premium ShockmountDeluxe Oil-Stained Wood BoxMicrofiber Cleaning ClothDrawcord Cloth Storage PouchAluminum CaseLimited 5-Year Warranty on MicrophoneLimited 1-Year Warranty on Ribbon Capsule

Q: 8. do I need to have 48v phantom power on to use my Fat Head mic ?

A: No you will be using the included transformer which supplies the necessary power to the microphone.

Q: 9. Regular vs phantom amplification level. The regular claims 27db of amp and the phantom says 18db. Does the regular actually have stronger amplification? I heard from testers that the regular only boosts about 20db in reality is that true? If I get the phantom pass one will it amplify less?

A: I use a regular Fethead and it delivers a boost of about 20 db. I use it often with my Zoom and Tascam small recorders and it does a great job of boosting gain-hungry mics such as SM7B and RE20. Hope this helps.

Q: 10. Does it works with SHAPE Cage with 15mm Rod System for Sony a7 II, a7S II, & a7R II ? I lost the adaptor

[Figure-8] Don't be put off by the bargain price, this is a wonderful amp mic, period. The RSM5 is impressive sounding on guitar amps or speaker cabs. In that application, it's better combine the RSM5 w/ another non-ribbon mic, like condenser or dynamic. I get great results combining RSM5 with a ShureSM57. The RSM5 adds a delightfully smooth, warm low end girth & the SM57 adds presence, cut and sparkle. Experiment with positioning the mics on the speaker cone. As with all bargain ribbon mics, be sure to check your RSM5 for loose ribbon tension before keeping it. Google the issue and how to do a test. The tension inside mine was perfect out of the box. The RSM5 takes EQ great, yet doesn't need much to fit into a mix. It's very low noise. I have not yet really tried the RSM5 on other sound sources. Like all passive ribbons, this one needs lots of preamp gain or a mic booster to get a good level with quiet sources. With a loud source like guitar amp, that's not an issue with the RSM5. The preamps built into my Steinberg UR44 interface are more than powerful enough to get great results with Nady RSM5 on amps. I even briefly tried it on my male spoken voice, for which the preamps had to be turned up quite a bit, but I think even that would work without any extra preamp booster. I suspect that on quieter voices, or acoustic guitar from a distance, you'd need a gainier preamp, or FETHEAD or Cloudlifter to get a good level with the RSM5. The RSM5 has presentable build quality, and it sounds much, much better than I imagined, especially at this price point. It's downright unbelievable! I love the tones I am capturing having this mic as part of the mix. I have been playing music seriously for 40 years, and am fanatical about good tone. Nonetheless, given the great results with the RSM5, I could not justify the extra cost of the high end ribbon mics.

[Phantom Power] I love this thing. Puts together in a flash. Stores in the bell of my sax in the case, so no extra bag or box to carry. The legs are metal, and because there are five of them, it's nearly impossible to tip over.

[Phantom Power] If you're looking for a true professional 44BX sound, look no further! I was amazed at the sound and quality. Insides with the exception of transformer, look identical to the legendary 44BX. Why spend $3000 to $5000 for a similar looking replica when you can buy this for under $1000? I've already bought 2 and love them! I'm a professional broadcaster and voice-over announcer with 50+ years of broadcast experience.

[Figure-8] The R44CXE is such a warm, rich sounding mic. Full bodied with smooth hi end makes it wonderful on female vocals, as a drum room mic and horns. Can't wait to try it on other instruments!!!

[Mono] The microphone works great. Good sound quality. Using it to record trumpet. The packaging was difficult to open and can't really be used to store the microphone. The foam packing was ok but the outer cardboard box was so tight that it gets damaged getting it out and pretty much can't get it back in. Plan on finding some other way to store it. The cinch pouch although nice to protect it from simple scuffs is not sufficient because you need to store the microphone standing up.

[Figure-8] These mics are inexpensive but built for abuse - and that's what you get. Beautiful sound and safe to put in front of a loud guitar cab or trumpet. Great microphone, I have a pair of them and they're great on everything from Leslies to snare drums.

[Phantom Power] Just bought a new straight P Mauriaut Soprano. The K&M securely supports the sax, practically impossible to tip, and fits into the bell inside the case. It protrudes about 1/4”, but still works. Just check your clearance at the bell to make sure it works with your particular case.

[10.145 lb] I took a chance on this mic as there's not a lot of reviews on it out there. I'm kinda an ART fanboy, so I figured this mic would be alright. It is! I use it for electric and acoustic guitars and find it to be rich and smooth, like a ribbon mic should be! I find it to be low noise and very balanced. With the right placement (not too close) I didn't even need to eq it! Not having to worry about using my cloud lifter is a plus as well, the active circuit works very well at boosting the signal. Also, it comes with a sturdy aluminum case, shock mount, and velvet pouch. One thing - the shock mount is a little not great - the only thing that holds the mic in is a little thumb screw that pushes a piece of felt into the mic body. It does come loose after a couple of hours. Overall, this mic stands it's own again other cheap ribbon mics very well! I have a cascade fathead and an Se X1r, and this one sounds just as good! And is about $70 cheaper! Way to go, ART!
