The black Sontronics Solo is a versatile handheld microphone designed for live vocals and studio recording applications. The mic features a high-output dynamic capsule designed to deliver a rich, full sound rivaling much more expensive mics, making it well suited for use on vocals, electric guitar cabinets, snares, kick drums, and more. The supercardioid polar pattern tightly focuses audio capture on the sound source directly in front of the mic, helping to reduce feedback issues.

At just under 20 oz, the Solo is lightweight to hold and features a standard XLR output. Phantom power is not required. The Solo is designed and built in the United Kingdom; a mic clip and zippered pouch are included.

Superb precision and high output make this mic well suited for live performance, studio recording, and home use.

Solo offers a 50 Hz to 15 kHz frequency response and delivers a rich, full sound engineered to sit in the mix without requiring any EQ or postprocessing.

In addition to live vocals, the high-output mic element sounds great on kick and snare drums and regularly scores higher than mics costing substantially more in blind tests and shootouts.

The supercardioid pickup pattern offers superb off-axis rejection for less feedback.

The mic features a military-grade black anodized finish with laser engraving.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What type of USB-C cable does this need? I've tried a bunch of other USB-C cables and only the one that was included works.

A: You should be able to use a USB cable like the Pearstone USB 2.0 Type-C to USB Type-A Charge & Sync Cable - 6' (B&H # PEUSB3CMAM6) as a replacement for the original USB cable included with the TASCAM TM-250U Supercardioid USB Type-C Condenser Microphone. Be sure to set up your computer's Audio Input and Audio Output preferences so that the audio from the TM-250U is recognized and that you can monitor the audio through the mic's built-in 3.5mm headphone jack.

Q: 2. Does this have a mute and on/off button ?

A: No, the Polsen M-70 Dynamic Handheld Microphone does not have a mute or on/off button or switch onboard.

Q: 3. Is the MD-46 or the Electro-voice RE50 better in windy conditions? Which handles wind gusts better without a fur wind screen?

A: Neither one is going to handle wind well. Get a fur wind screen! Probably the MD46 is better, but that's not saying much under windy conditions.

Q: 4. What does the other end of the cable look like? Can I connect it to a laptop via USB? I want to pass voice from a classroom to a teacher on the other end of a Zoom call. Thanks.

A: There is NO connector: Unterminated Four-Conductor Cable

Q: 5. Will this work well with the Sony UTX-P40 XLR +48v Transmitter?

A: Yes, the Sennheiser MD 46 Dynamic ENG Microphone can be used with the Sony UTX-P40 Wireless Plug-On Transmitter. Since the MD 46 is a dynamic microphone, it does not require any voltage to function, so you will not need to use the transmitter's 48V phantom power setting.

Q: 6. what is the size of the wind screen for the Sennheiser MD-46?

A: The wind screen you need for the Sennheiser MD-46 is the MZW 1, product code 004839. I don't have the actual physical dimensions available.

Q: 7. Does this lantern come with a battery?

A: No, a battery is not included with the purchase of the Nitecore LR30 High-CRI Dual-Output Lantern (Sand Yellow); the battery must be purchased separately. The Nitecore LR30 High-CRI Dual-Output Lantern uses either one (1x) 18650 Lithium-Ion battery or two (2x) CR123A Lithium-Ion batteries.

Q: 8. How sensitive is this mic? Would it work well plugged directly into the xlr port of a canon xa series camcorder or would it need a stronger preamp?

A: Being that it is a dynamic mic, any recording device with an XLR mic input, will perfectly work with this mic.

Q: 9. Can this connect to a computer with only USB-A ports?

A: The Polsen USB Boundary Microphone with Headphone Output comes with a 2m USB-C to USB-A cable for use with a computer's USB-A port. A USB-C to USB-C cable (available separately) can be used if a USB-C connection is required.

Q: 10. How long is the cable?

A: The cable included with this Karaoke USA M189 Dynamic Microphone measures 9.8 feet.

[Black] I vacillated over which mic I should buy to pair up with my acoustic guitar and my Fender Acoustic Junior amp. This turned out to be ideal.

[Black] Shure 58A Beta doesn't need any recommendations. It's probably the best vocal microphone for live performance.

BHP delivered this product fast and with no issues during these crazy before Christmas days.

[Supercardioid] This mic is build like a tank much like its SM58 sibling. Its an all around good mic, but might not be the best pic for instruments (see SM57 / Beta 57 for that), but has been working super well with really good background noise rejection.

[1.265 lb] When needed, the volume from the Shure mic could be increased with less of a feed back problem from the wedge speaker above the stag and forward of the mic stand. And the audience heard a natural voice sound.

[Mono] The Beta 58A is well worth the higher price of it's excellent sibling, the SM58. I love the accurate reproduction, the very sensitive proximity effect, and the ability to handle very high sound pressure levels with little or no distortion. I definitely plan on adding more of these to my live mic collection in the near future as well as some Beta 57's!
