Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What's the size of usb cable that plugs into the unit it self. I need a cable to connect into a new iMac?

A: The MicMate has a USB Mini connector.

Q: 2. Hi, is the other end XLR female or XLR male?

A: The MICMATE PRO features a female XLR for connection to a microphone.

Q: 3. is this good for making music?

A: If you want to record an instrument, you would choose another device. This mic is very good to record voices for storytelling or a podcast but for music I would choose another one.

Q: 4. In the box description it says Cakewalk Music Creator . What does this mean? Does it come with this program?

A: Cakewalk Music Creator software is included with the Q2U bundle.

Q: 5. Does this require phantom power to run? And can it pass phantom power on to, say, a condenser mic?

A: This does require phantom power to run, however it will not pass phantom power. The booster is intended for use with dynamic and ribbon mics.

Q: 6. Could I plug a wireless Sennheiser lavalier receiver into this for Skype?

A: The Sennheiser transmitter is battery powered and cannot use the phantom power feature. This product is not designed o be compatible with Sennheiser bodypack transmitters.

Q: 7. Will this allow me to connect a dynamic mic with an xlr connection to either a dji mic or rode wireless go 2? If not is there a connector that will do this for me? thanks!

A: Although this is not officially confirmed to work, it should technically be possible. Depending on the microphone, you may find the audio level to be lower than usual especially with dynamic microphones like the Shure SM58.

Q: 8. what are the standard values to compare the readings of Mavolux with them? so i could judge if the monitor is ok or not?

A: The meter is not for displays/monitors but for light sources. The meter reads in Foot-candles and Lux. There is no standard of reading because it depends on the light source and there are many. The manual explains very well how to use this and its main uses a href= http://bit.ly/1NXMOoq target= _blank http://bit.ly/1NXMOoq./a

Q: 9. I've read that 'dynamic' mics work best when the sound source (voice or instrument) is close to the mic -- say six-eigth inches for example; but their sound pickup range falls off quickly as you move much further away from the mic (which has the advantage of reducing background noise). Is this true for this mic?

A: That is true for dynamic mics in general. Some dynamic mics are more sensitive than others. This one in particular requires the source of sound to be just a few inches away. Probably closer to around 3-4 inches or so. The polar pattern also will determine how far off axis the source of the sound can be until the sound drops out. This Samson Q2U is a cardioid pickup pattern which is about 120 degrees around.

Q: 10. In the video describes the product including the tripod stand, but not in the box description. Is the tripod stand included? Thanks.

A: The Samson Q2U bundle will include the HP20 studio headphones, desktop tripod stand, mic clip, USB cable and XLR cable.

[0.39 lb] The sound quality is great! I love the on off switch. It does make a little bit of noise when turning it on or off, but it's not that loud. It's similar to handling or ruffling noise.

[0.39 lb] I never did much sound recording in the past, so I had to buy a microphone. My brother is a singer and always raved about Shure. I went with a low cost unpowered unit, which with an adapter, works great with my Nikon D5500.
