Q: 1. Could this be used to shoot a video interview in a small room with a DSLR? I want to make sure I have enough lighting for 24fps at 1/50th...? It doesn't have to have a lot of emotion or anything, just has to be well lit to look like quality recording.

A: Yes this will work very well. If the room is small, you may have too much light with all the bulbs installed. The light can be easily adjusted by distance to the subject and number of bulbs in each fixture. I have been very pleased with this unit. Lots of good light, at around 5200K as I recall. Very well constructed and should give years of good service.

Q: 2. Do the lights get hot? or are they cool bulbs?

A: I would say cool . Now, I usually use gloves to unscrew, as they are slightly warm to the touch but I must say I use the gloves more to protect the bulb because I heard years ago it's better not to allow the oils from your fingers to coat these types of bulbs. Plus if I happen to apply too much pressure unscrewing, bulb will not shatter in my hand. Use of this kit has been critical in the videography business. Definitely do not regret this purchase.

Q: 3. If I wanted to switch out fluorescents for Tungsten bulbs, which would I use?

A: Hi Victoria, there are 3200k CFL bulbs out there. Alzo is a good brand. The large CFLs are a bit heavy for the stands, so it's wise to get the standard size bulbs. There are also some new 3000k LED E26 bulbs made by Eiko and others. I use LED bulbs and really like them.

Q: 4. The description says the bag holds 2 monolights, and stands, but the kit comes with three?

A: It holds all three, though i don't recommend taking them apart. I use the bag to transport the stands and move the box assembled. I hate putting the boxes together.

A: The total weight of the fixture, softbox, 2 stands and 8 lamps is 8.9 lb. The shipping weight will be slightly more due to the packaging.

A: They are not special. Youll want to get the CFLs though. Otherwise itll run way too hot.

Q: 7. I am new to lighting set up, can I switch the bulb holders to hold flashes/sped light?

A: If your question relates to re-dedicating the stand to hole another fixture , then the answer is yes. I don't have the gear handy to measure, but tripods/stands have various stud diameters and I'd look at the Impact product specification to get the size. From there, you can see if your fixture will mate onto that stud.If you look closely at the thumb nut on the bottom of the fixture, this is the means of tightening it onto the stud.

Q: 8. What is the weight of one of the light heads with the softbox on? I would like to get a boom arm to use with one of the stands & lights, and want to make sure the boom will hold the light (with sand-weight on the stand). Thank you!

A: Depending on the size bulbs you have in the sockets, the head can weigh anywhere from ten to fifteen pounds? Assuming your boom arm isn't ridiculously over extended, anything with a sandbag should be perfectly stable.

Q: 9. I am reading in the reviews that these light are not good for "key lighting." I intend to light a green screen. What is "key lighting.?

A: The key light is simply the main light you will set your exposure to. Any light can be a key light. If the light is appropriate to the shoot is a different issue based on camera settings and size of the area. these lights can be used for a green screen if the area to light is rather small.

Q: 10. can we use it in EU 230V?

A: This kit is only suitable for use on 110v power.
