Impressively bright f/0.95 maximum aperture is well-suited for working in low-light conditions and provides greater control over the focus position when using shallow depth of field techniques.

Normal-length prime lens provides a 51° angle of view for a natural-looking perspective close to the human eye.

The optical design incorporates an aspherical element, an extra-low dispersion element, and three ultra-high refraction elements, which help to suppress spherical and chromatic aberrations for improved sharpness, color accuracy, and clarity.

Video-friendly design features a click switch mechanism to de-click the aperture ring. This prevents the click sound from being recorded and provides a smooth change in brightness when changing the aperture setting.

Robust metal construction with deep grooves on the aperture ring and focus ring to enable better handling.

Internal focusing minimizes focus breathing when changing the focus from one object to another. This design also helps prevent dust from getting into the lens.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does it cover the c70 sensor?

A: This lens does cover the C70 sensor. This is an APS-C lens.

Q: 2. Does the focus peaking work on Canon cameras?

A: Yes, Venus Optics Laowa Argus 35mm f/0.95 FF Lens for Canon R will support focus peaking on all Canon RF cameras.

Q: 3. How much does this lens weigh?

A: The weight of the TTArtisan 35mm f/0.95 Lens is approximately 247 to 267 grams (due to different mounts being made available).

Q: 4. Does this have hard focus stops?

A: The focus is smooth but it does have Selectable Clicked / De-Clicked Aperture. Photographers might prefer the clicked aperture ring while de-clicked would be better for video.

Q: 5. Since this lens has no electronics, does focus peaking on the Z7 work with this lens?

A: Yes Nikon Z7 will show peaking when used with Venus Optics Laowa Argus 35mm f/0.95 FF Lens for Nikon Z.

Q: 6. Does this lens have electrical contacts to communicate the settings to the camera?

A: Unfortunately, the Venus Optics Laowa Argus 28mm f/1.2 FF Lens (Nikon Z) does not have any electrical contacts.

Q: 7. Does this include the lens tube slip rings? If not, may I suggest including them in the accessories page?

A: The Venus Optics Laowa Aurogon FF 10-50x NA0.5 Supermicro APO Lens (Canon RF) does not include the Venus Optics Lens Tube Slip Rings for Aurogon (B&H # VEAURING).

Q: 8. Is it weather sealed?

A: Unfortunately Venus Optics Laowa Argus 33mm f/0.95 CF APO Lens for FUJIFILM X is not weather sealed.

Q: 9. Is the Nikon Z7 compatible with this manual focus lens? Besides no image stabilization, are other capabilities lost?

A: As the Venus Optics Laowa Argus FF 28mm T1 Cine Lens (Nikon Z) is a fully manual lens, aperture and focus would need to be controlled manually as well. You may also lose any focus confirmation features built into the camera itself.

Q: 10. Is it possible to make it work on MFT with some adapter? I just wanted to buy 25mm 0.95, but FF is a better investment.

A: No, there are no adapters to connect Venus Optics Laowa Argus 35mm f/0.95 FF Lens for Sony E-Mount to a micro 4/3 camera mount.

[0.12x] If you are not looking for perfection at this price, but a special way of rendering the world, you have a winner with this lens.
I take any chance to slow down and to become more creative.

[0.12x] Vignetting, corner softness wide open, and some distortion are noticeable. But when you factor in the size and weight of this thing, it's an engineering marvel that such a lens is possible, and at such an affordable price. I own the Samyang 10mm f/3.5 XP and that lens has a very annoying green cast in the corners, and I am delighted that this lens suffer way less, and much easier to fix in Lightroom or CameraRAW. However, stopping down the lens doesn't improve vignetting, unlike the Samyang.
Strangely, the mid-frame some how isn't as sharp as the extreme corners when you focus using the center. I suspect that the plane of focus isn't a plane not a sphere. It could be mustached, but further investigation is required.
This lens works well with the Techart LM-EA9, and can get you very close to your subject as long as you are not blocking all the light. It's a shame that the TTartisan adapter would not correctly read the code of this lens as the Leica 6-bit code cannot represent9mm f/5.6 at all. Let's see what happens in the future.
Despite its many non-idealities, I am still inclined to give it a 5/5 for being a pioneer in ultra wide angle non-fisheye.

[3.33 lb] Requires very precise positioning of camera, subject and lighting to get the best out of it.

[15] On Nikon Z30 it almost feels heavier than the camera itself. Seriously solid piece of hardware. While the quality has a vintage vibe and the heft to it certainly lets you know you have something special. The Bokeh is un-real and who cares about everything else. If its not that sharp on edges, while this is more of a toy lens with cool vibes than but to me its amazing.

[Manual Focus] This is my first Laowa lens, but it won't be my last. I get that this is a photo lens. And that real cinema lenses have gears for motors etc, but the focus throw on this lens is so long that it makes focusing handheld (and with its shallow depth of field) a breeze.

You can break down your rig as light as possible, as I've done in the photo I've attached and use focus peaking or the manual scales on the lens to focus.

It's built incredibly well. It's all metal, but lightweight and portable, so you're inspired to take it anywhere you just want to document life as it happens around you. The focal length is a little tight on crop sensor, but I find it's the sweet spot to give just enough compression between your subject and background. There's just something about 33/35 mm lens on s35 sensors that look really good.

On the Red Komodo- X, this is about 43mm in 6k 17:9 mode. It;s also APO, which helps reduce chromatic aberration (the purple-ish/greenish fringing around edges in bright conditions). Yes there's still some, but nowhere near as much as you'd expect for an aperture around f/0.95 aperture.

The images look really good, too. For some reason, I feel like there's some barrel distortion... which I love, or maybe just some kind of 3d pop for images framed in the center. I can't explain it, but there's a lovely character to this lens.

I have an R6 Mark II, which is full frame, and this won't work without heavy vignetting on the corners since the image circle doesn't cover full frame cameras. Again, this lens is made only for crop factor (The CF on the side of the lens) cameras (aps-c and super 35,) On full frame or anything else, you'll need to use a digital tele converter or crop-in in post (which ultimately reduces resolution.)

Anyway, hope this helps someone!

[51°] If you're on the fence about Laowa lenses, I can assure you, you will not be disappointed. As a person who normally buys strictly manufacturer lenses, Laowa is right on par with them and the Sharpness from this lens is unbelievable!

[0.12x] Not for everyone, as they say, but surprisingly good for the price for what it is. If you want it for super thin depth of field and creamy smooth bokeh you may be happy. Stopped down, sharpness is good, especially in the center. Works very well for urban scenes at night as well and keeps the ISO down. At the current price of $650 I'm very pleased, but at list of $999 maybe less so. If you want an all around 35mm there are better choices, mostly slower by a stop or more, but then with AF or at greater expense. Beautifully built as well.

[f/16] This lens has stayed on my z50 since I got it about a month ago and think it will continue to stay there. I love the razor thin focus, the bokeh, the lens flare. I like the price and that it’s equivalent to a 50mm on a full frame camera. Since it’s manual, It’s not for everyone and every situation, but it’s really nice for more mindful photography.

[15] I have a selection of native Fuji lenses but I wanted to explore large aperture lenses. First I bought the Laowa 65 mm macro which had superlative resolution and 2:1 magnification. What a pearl! So, I thought let's get the 25 mm lens that was more appealing for me than the 33 mm version for several reasons. I have been extremely satisfied with the lens. It has quite good resolution and contrast at wide open and it just improves to excellent closing down a bit to 2-2.8. I like the color reproduction of the lens also. The FF equivalent of 37 mm fits my needs quite well since it is a bit wider than regular lenses. Chromatic aberration does exist but it is nothing that serious. Flare problems on the other hand can be quite annoying but it is handable. I just avoid direct sunshine what usually I do because all lenses to a certain degree suffer from flare problems. During night photos be careful about light sources on the periphery of the frame or on the horizon. There is quite heavy chroma. Some reviews have made a big issue of it but it had not bothered me too much. The only interesting thing about this lens is its focusing since it can acquire focus at 2 distinct locations. I have never seen this before. Their manual actually claims that multiple floating focusing can occur. Maybe I have a defective floating focusing system...writing to Laowa don't expect an answer...All the above included I love the lens: it has great resolution, sharp images and the lens itself is just beautiful! Not the mention it is the best f/0.95 lens!
