Quickly expand your small home or business network to support computers, storage, smart TVs, and more with the Netgear GS308EPP 8-Port Gigabit PoE+ Compliant Managed Switch. Designed as a step-up from unmanaged switches while still providing plug-and-play convenience, the GS308EPP provides essential features with an easy-to-use management interface. It also features eight PoE+ compliant Gigabit Ethernet ports with a 123W budget, supporting powered devices such as IP cameras, VoIP phones, and access points.
Its 16 Gb/s switching capacity helps to ensure smooth data transfers while support for VLAN traffic segmentation helps to secure access for connected devices. Simply connect the switch to your router and use the web-based configuration utility to get set up. No additional hardware devices or software drivers are required. Other features include QoS traffic prioritization for optimized audio and video communications and DoS attack prevention. The GS308EPP has a fanless design with a metal chassis that allows it to operate silently when mounted onto a desktop or wall so that it won't disturb your working environment.

Featuring eight PoE+ compliant Gigabit Ethernet ports with a 123W budget, the GS308EPP can transfer both power and data with compatible devices. The integrated power management system allows you to enable or disable power for each port, limit the PoE voltage per port, and more. PoE stays on during firmware updates to provide an uninterrupted experience.
Configure up to 64 VLANS to separate traffic and permissions into different groups.
The GS308EPP supports up to 128 multicast groups, with features such as IGMP Snooping, rate limiting for bandwidth allocation, and Quality of Service (QoS) traffic prioritization to help ensure smooth video and audio traffic. Additionally, unknown multicasts can be blocked.
Auto DoS (Denial-of-Service) attack prevention, Storm Control, Port Mirroring, and other features help to protect your network from attacks.
Quickly troubleshoot connections with the cable testing utility.
Combine up to two ports using link aggregation to enhance the bandwidth and support multi-Gig connections to compatible devices.
Related Questions and Answers
Q: 1. Does it have RADIUS auth option?
A: Yes, the Ubiquiti Networks ES-5XP EdgeSwitch XP 5-Port Advanced Gigabit PoE Managed Switch, B&H # UBES5XP, supports RADIUS authentication.
Q: 2. Is there a rackmount kit for this switch?
A: Unfortunately, we do not have a rack mount kit for the Netgear AV Line M4250 GSM4210PD 8-Port Gigabit PoE+ Compliant Managed AV Switch with SFP (110W) BH #NEGSM4210PD.
Q: 3. If I have 4 cameras coming in via NDI, this should power them and take 1 outbound ethernet to an NDI switcher and it will work?
A: It would depend on the power consumption, NDI version, resolution and frame rate. Considering the 240W PoE+ power budget and max wattage of 30W for PoE+ devices, the Netgear AV Line M4250 GSM4212PX 8-Port Gigabit PoE+ Compliant Managed AV Switch with SFP (240W) should provide enough power for the cameras. Bandwidth would be the biggest issue. If you are using full Bandwidth NDI, transmitting 4K signal at 60 FPS from each camera, your Ethernet connection going to the NDI switcher may not have enough bandwidth for all 4 signals. If you are using lower bandwidth NDI such as HX3 or a lower resolution, such as 1080p, your single Etherenet connection to the NDI switcher should be sufficient.
Q: 4. Are the 10G ports 5G/2.5G compatible? Some will negotiate down, others will only negotiate 10G or 1G.
A: The SFP ports on the Netgear AV Line M4250 XSM4216F 16-Port Gigabit SFP+ Managed Network Switch support 10G and 1G speeds; they are not 2.5G or 5G compatible.
Q: 5. Does this switch provide PoE (Power over Ethernet) to devices?
A: This switch BH #NEGS108400NS does not do PoE.
Q: 6. Can the POE ports (5-8) have the POE turned off?
A: YES. Two ways:1) As others have mentioned, the ports are auto sensing, meaning you can plug in a non PoE device and it'll work without PoE and won't damage the device.2) From the Unifi Controller (I'm running v5.3.11), you can click on Devices | your switch | Ports | Edit (pencil) port | PoE | Off (the other option is PoE ).
Q: 7. The picture shows 8 PoE ports and 2 non-PoE ports for a total of 10, but the SPECS tab does not list the 2 non-PoE ports. Which one is correct for GSM4212PX?
A: The two non-PoE ports are additional 1G RJ45 ports which can be used as regular network ports.
Q: 8. With the cloud key running, do you have client visibility only to downstream clients or all clients on the subnet?
A: The cloud key has visibility of all the network it manages, not just a subnet or downstream.
Q: 9. Do we need additional power supply to use the switch or will it consume power over LAN (input) using PoE?
A: The main unit needs a power supply. All 5 LAN ports are PoE.
Q: 10. Why can I see everything connected to this toughswitch like a hub instead of only the device on the port I am connected to? Is this actually a switch?
A: Please clarify your question. If you configure the ports to be on the same (or no) VLAN then you will see all devices on all ports.Switch works very well.
