[0.125 lb] My D7200, after a gazillion shots over the past 8 years, was getting weary. I'd invested in Nikon lenses I love (24-70 2.8, 70-200 2.8, 50 1.8) that were meant for a FF camera. 

The cost of going to mirrorless wasn't an option - having to buy all new lenses. I'm a Nikon gal and was happy to stay true.

After much research including several articles and YouTube videos covering different Nikon FF, the 780 kept beckoning so I bit the bullet.

I'm excited to pick up this camera each and every time. It feels good in hand (solid but not too heavy). I love the camera's responsiveness. It doesn't have a built in flash - I stick to natural light so this isn't an issue. Love the fact this camera is great in low light situations.

I love landscape and nature but I'm looking forward to having my first portrait session with my D780 in a few days. Can't wait!

[0.125 lb] Extremely pleased with the D780 as an addition to my camera arsenal. Just not ready to make the jump to Mirrorless. Too much invested in lenses to start over. The purchasing experience with B&H was also very good, camera arrived right on time, would definitely recommend B&H!

[0.125 lb] I received the D780 a week ago. I’ve tested all the functionality and it works perfectly. I was worried about shutter shock so tested that first with a 300 mm lens on a sturdy tripod. After trying several shutter speeds from 1/20 to 1/100 sec, I could detect no shutter shock. All pictures were sharp. I traded in my very excellent D750 for the D780 and am glad I did. The D780 upgrades are worth the extra cost. Following are the top 10 upgrades that were most important to me. (1) Fast live view auto focus. (2) -7eV low light focus in live view. (3) 900 sec min shutter speed in manual exposure mode. (4) Fast silent shooting in live view mode. (5) 1/8000 sec max shutter speed. (6) Focus shift feature. (7) 2.4Mdots touch screen. (8) 4K video. (9) USBC charging. (10) Dedicated AF-On button. I’m also delighted to say that high ISO noise and color reproduction is one stop better than the D750 for jpeg images. Raw images are about a half stop better. The only thing I miss from the D750 is the built in flash, but the improved weather sealing without the flash is some compensation. Overall, the D780 is a very well rounded DSLR and I’m looking forward to shooting night skies, landscapes and wildlife.

[Black] I purchased the D780 to replace my D7000 for shooting events. I have used it for one event so far and am happy with the results. It's great for low light, indoor photography producing sharp, high quality, low noise images with ISO from 1200 - 3200. I also used it with both on and off camera, manual flash. The skin tones looked great too.

The D780 out-performs my D810 under low light conditions.
The camera is slimmer, slightly smaller and lighter than my D810. It felt great in my hand for a full day of shooting.

I chose this camera over the Z6 for its dual card slots, optical viewfinder, F-Mount, long battery life and feel in my hand.

I chose the D780 over the D850 for its smaller file sizes, smaller dimensions and compatibility with my many SD flash cards.

With all these things plus; video, time-laps, long exposure, Tilt & Touch LCD this is a very capable event camera.

[0.125 lb] After two months of reviews of the Mirrorless cameras and the outdated DSLR's I had to go with the D780 for my purchase. Also the price was right as Nikon had it on sale and B&H is my go to store.

[Black] I purchased the Nikon D780 as an upgrade to my TWELVE (12) year old Nikon D7000, which has served me well. I stayed with a DSLR vs a mirrorless Nikon due to my investment in F-Mount lenses over the years.

(50 f1.8D, 28 f2.8D, 85 f1.8D, 180 f 2.8D, 28-70 f2.8, & 70-200 f2.8 VR1).  

I do not shoot video, so I have no need for Live View or other video capabilities and upgrades of mirrorless cameras. I also shoot fully manual settings with autofocus, so the other bells and whistles do not appeal to me,

I primarily shoot my son's high school marching band under the Friday Night Lights. My previous D7000 took perfect quality photos in daylight and on the field, but REALLY struggled with photos of the band in the bleachers under the dim lights. The ISO produced subpar photos at anything above 1600.

The new D780 works perfectly in extremely low light with Auto-ISO set to 10,000. The autofocus is lightning fast and perfectly accurate for low light shooting. The colors are amazing and the bokeh is unrivaled.  

It is a HUGE jump in quality for a 2010 DX model to a 2020 FX model. What a difference in a decade of technological advancements!
