For novice users, the user-friendly menu allows automatic slewing to 42,900+ objects. Even an inexperienced astronomer can master its variety of features in a few observing sessions. The hand controller can be connected to a PC using the built-in USB-B port and a USB-B cable (not included).

Sky-Watcher includes an illuminated polar finderscope to aid in the alignment process. The finderscope features a circular grid reticle for the Northern Hemisphere, consistent with today's popular polar alignment apps. For astronomers in the Southern Hemisphere, the constellation Octans is built into the reticle as well. Even without a clear view of Polaris, the HEQ5 Pro can be polar aligned using the SynScan hand controller. Simply choose one of the visible stars listed and use the latitude adjustment screws to center it in the eyepiece.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this particular item count with a threaded hole in the clutch ring? I heard that some instances of this mount (probably from earlier releases) got no thread, thus no way to attach a counterweight. Thank you.

A: This is the only information being offered bt Sky-Watcher https://www.skywatcherusa.com/products/az-gti-mount

Q: 2. Which power adapter works with this mount? Thanks.

A: Power consumption in Az-Gti is very low. any 12v source above 2A will do the trick. Average energy consumption is around 750mah in idle. slewing may double. you can even use 12v powerbanks. I have a 8.000mah and it works the night on a single charge.

Q: 3. Mounting plates aren't listed under accessories: what mounting plate would I need for mounting super-telephoto lenses? (And WHY are none listed under "accessories" for the EQ6-R?)

A: Your lenses will require that they have a tripod collar to attach a Explore Scientific DSLR Camera Vixen-Style Dovetail Assembly (11") BH #EXDSLRCDA • MFR #DSLRCDA They do come in different lengths.

Q: 4. Is this the regular HEQ5 or the HEQ5 PRO?

A: This is the information from Sky-Watcher website. No mention of the word pro. https://www.skywatcherusa.com/products/heq5-mount

Q: 5. Will this work with my Celestron NexStar 130SLT 130mm f/5 Reflector Telescope?

A: Yes, you can

Q: 6. does this come with the 110v power adapter?

A: The Sky-Watcher EQ6-R Pro Equatorial GoTo Mount with Tripod Kit BH #SKEQ6RV2 • MFR #S30300 does not come with an AC adapter.

Q: 7. Here is my question: Is Sky-Watcher HEQ5 GoTo Equatorial Mount with Tripod compatible with Losmandy-style dovetail plate (does it have Losmandy-style saddle?)? I plan to use this mount & tripod with Sky-Watcher Evostar 150DX ED APO 150mm f/8 Refractor. Thanks!

A: The Sky-Watcher HEQ5 GoTo Equatorial Mount with Tripod BH #SKS30400K • MFR #S30400 is compatible with the Losmandy-style dovetail plate

Q: 8. does this come with the 110V power adapter? Or do you have to purchase a separate power supply adapter?

A: The Sky-Watcher EQ6-R Pro Equatorial GoTo Mount with Tripod Kit BH #SKEQ6RV2 • MFR #S30300 dose not come with an AC adapter

Q: 9. will this work with my sky-watcher classic 250p, the 10' dob?

A: Unfortunately due to the size of a Dobsonian telescope they cannot be supported by the Sky-Watcher EQ6-R Pro Equatorial GoTo Mount with Tripod Kit. No EQ mount will be compatible with a Dobsonian style telescope.

Q: 10. Can I use CQ350 mount with Skywatcher Stainless Steel 2" Tripod for EQ6, to Celestron C11 SCT

A: The Sky-Watcher CQ350 Pro GoTo Mount will only fit the tripod included in this kit: https://bhpho.to/3iNH49W. And yes, it will support the Celestron C11 SCT telescope.

[Yes] I liked it so much - I bought two.
Use them in EQ mode with SW wedges.
One - standalone. For wide-field, using DSLR, SynScan app and SkySafari.
The second one - fully computer controlled with Stellarmate/KStars/Ekos on RPI4. Auto-guiding, auto-focus, plate-solving, etc. AT72EDII refractor with ATI294MC Pro camera.
Auto-guiding is not great (especially in DEC) but acceptable - 360s exposures are OK.

[Dual Axis] I love this mount! B&H went above & beyond. The 1st one I ordered was not the one I wanted. I didn't realize Skywatcher made 2 different versions. The one I'm currently reviewing is the one that you can put into Equatorial mode.
B&H was so awesome with the exchange even paying for shipping, which I wanted to pay since it was my mistake.
B&H is the best

[Yes] Ordered and received this mount from B&H a few weeks ago with the goal of learning to do AP, using a Canon DSLR that I already have to begin with. Also ordered a Celestron C8 EdgeHD OTA, which is a nice mate to this mount. The mount is solid as a rock and was easy to use even without a precise polar alignment. It tracks smoothly and runs off a small 150 watt GoLabs battery power station. Wasn't sure whether the mount would accept both Vixen and Losmandy-D-style dovetail bars, but it does. It's a little heavier than I had imagined but I can carry it easily without the OTA attached. So far (and I've only taken a few pics), I'm very pleased with the tracking accuracy and the quiet and vibration-free operation. Will explore its capabilities more shortly, when the snow goes away!

[Yes (Built In)] As long as one keeps within the load rating of the mount (11 lb.), this small, lightweight, inexpensive, GoTo mount cant be beat. Alignment is quick and easy. GoTo and tracking (in Alt/Az) is quite accurate. And it can track any object in its extensive data base without even having to align the mount first: just Point and Track - one of the built-in features that make this mount such a joy to use.

The one negative is the tripod that comes with the mount. While it is useable... even satisfactory... if one limits the telescope size (length, weight, and focal length). But it is too flimsy to use with telescopes that approach the mounts upper rating limit of 11 lb. I would have preferred the option of being able to purchase the mount without the tripod.

[Yes (Built In)] If you don't need to support more than 11 lbs of scope and you're not going to take long exposure, (i.e. greater than 60 seconds) photos, this mount is lightweight, full-featured and easy to setup. It pairs well with the Sky-Watcher ED80 and you can carry ALL of the equipment you need in one load. It has built in wifi and Go-To capability, so you can connect via wifi from your phone, align the mount, and it will find thousands of interesting sky objects for you. It will then track that object for as long as you want to view it. And, since it's an Alt-Az mount, it's very easy to line up on visible objects like the Moon or Planets if you don't want to go to the trouble of aligning it. Finally, it's also capable of being used for time lapse photos and daytime viewing.

[Yes] The Sky-Watcher AZ-GTi has breathed new life into my vintage-1997 Tele Due Pronto. I bought it primarily for its promise of being able to track objects even though it's not equatorial, and it fulfilled that promise and more. It'll hold Saturn in the field of a 3mm eyepiece for several minutes even given my evolving skill at doing alignments through the SyncScan Pro iOS app. And it's GoTo function will put M11 or M13 in the field of my 12mm Nagler (~2 true field). Very neat technology!

[Dual Axis] Not much to say, other that it's been great. Opened boxes, assembled, hooked up my gear, no issues so far in the past year. Guiding is under an arc second, which seems to be a thing people say is good , but I'm starting to question the validity of even using that number to rate a mount so it might not matter anyway. Either way, holds my qhy268m, mono filter wheel, WO zenithstar 73, asi120mm guide cam, WO 50mm guide scope, dew heaters, beelink u59 mini pc, and zwo focuser on a WO losmandy plate. A bit on the heavy side, but I'm used to it.

[Dual Axis] Very easy to carry, setup and aligned. I like the WiFi control with an android cell phone and Syn scan and the possibility to convert it to a Eq with an additional wedge and contra wight . The fact that is a go to and the affordable price makes it a winner for me.
Great service from B&H.

[Dual Axis] I bought this mount and tripod from B&H Photo for traveling; my other mounts and tripods are an Equitorial mount and an AZ-Alt single fork mount. However, I needed something I could just carry out the door or even backpack. This mount fits all of the specs I needed, especially GoTo powered by batteries, and it is lightweight. I pair this mount/tripod with an Astrotech 72EDii; the whole setup is about 13 pounds (versus 70 pounds for the GEM and 47 pounds for the Az-Alt with an SCT 8). And, as always, B&H Photo sent it to me within days of ordering and in perfect shape.

[Dual Axis] Was looking for a mount for a grab and go set up. This fits the bill perfectly. I’ve paired it with both a 65 mm and an 80mm refractor and it performs as I had hoped. Set it up, leveled it, aligned it by eye to Polaris and then performed a two star alignment with the phone app. Worked great. Very pleased.
