The Hoya Pro ND filters are just thin enough to fit in the drop-in holder in the 300 f2.8 II lens. Any slim or low-profile filter would fit and medium thickness filters should be fine, but thick filters may not fit.To use the the new drop-in filter holder with a 52mm filter, you first have to remove the entire gel filter holder that came with the 300mm f2.8 II lens originally - by squeezing the two external metal knobs towards each other and sliding the holder out of the lens.Best wishes,David
