The Cambo ACTUS-G-15 Kit | Compact View Camera Systemis a special ACTUS wide angle kit based on the ACTUS-G, the new ACTAR-15, and a bayonet set by choice for a mirrorless camera body.

The ACTUS-G is the most universal version of the Actus series with its interchangeable bayonet holder system and all geared movement for tilt, swing, and shifts.

The ACTAR-15 is a new member of the Cambo ACTAR series of lenses and offers a generous image circle of over 65mm while having virtually no distortion.

The image circle allows for 12 to 15mm shifts on a 24x36 sensor and even covers the 33x44 sensor with up to 6mm of shift.

This set is optimized for the use with a mirrorless camera body such as Canon-R, Nikon-Z, and Sony A-series, but also supports the use of FUJIFILM'S GFX series and the smaller APS-sensor bodies. A complete set comes enclosed in a custom-made case.

Offering extensive perspective and focus control along with the convenience of working with your digital camera, the black ACTUS-G View Camera Body from Cambo effectively transforms your digital camera or back into a digital view camera. As the core component within a modular system, this view camera body serves as the primary piece from which you can pair a digital camera body with a variety of lenses to reap the benefits of geared camera movements for correcting perspective distortions, achieving an extended depth of field, or producing creative selective focus effects. While resembling traditional large format view cameras in function, the ACTUS system also echoes the compact form factor of the digital cameras it is designed to be paired with and is optimized for use in both the studio as well as on location.

The ACTAR-15 is a lens with almost no geometrical distortion. As the image circle is over 65mm, there is an optically allowed horizontal shift possible of 15mm each side when using a full frame (24x36) sensor in landscape mode, and 12mm in portrait mode. Use of the ACTAR-15 on the Actus with FUJIFILM GFX 50/100 series is possible up to 6mm of shift.

The optical design of this lens incorporates 17 elements in 11 groups. The aperture range is from f/4.5 to f/22 in half stop increments. Please note that the aperture is manual and there are no electronical connections available nor needed.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. can xcd lenses be used with the camera body?

A: Yes, the Cambo ACTUS-G View Camera Body with 20mm Lens Kit for Hasselblad X Mount will work with a Hasselblad XCD 55mm f/2.5 V Lens.

Q: 2. I want to upgrade my d800 for architechture and macro photography, I own a nikkor 14mm 2.8, 20mm 2.8, 24mm 2.0, 28mm 2.8 and a 35mm 1.4 for architechture and a macro 60mm 2.8 and the 105mm micro for macro photography. Will theese lenses cover the whole sensor in the d800 for both cases?

A: None of those lenses will focus properly when using a Nikon body. Because this system introduces a bellows in between the lens and the camera body those lenses will not sit at the correct point for infinity focus.Instead I can recommend (with the appropriate lens board):Hassleblad V lenses Legacy Mamiya RZ/RB LensesLarge Format lenses 90mm and longer.

Q: 3. Nikon D810. Carl Zeiss CF 80mm. What Actus would bring them to work like a view camera please. I want the recipe, cookbook?

A: The Cambo ACTUS-B4 View Camera Body is only available matching camera and lens: there is a Nikon version that will work with the D810 and a Nikon F-mount lens and a Hasselblad version that will work with a Hasselblad XCD camera and Hasselblad lens.

Q: 4. I would like to use the Cambo B-4 with a Nikon Z7 Mirrorless Camera to photograph architecture. What lenses would I need to have infinity focus and have the whole sensor of the camera covered? Thanks

A: If you’d like to use a mirrorless Nikon on the Actus, you need the Actus-G combined with Nikon Z bayonet. The Actus-B4 is for use with Nikon DSLR cameras. The Actar-24 is designed to cover the full sensor and more. You’ll have 10mm of shift to both sides. Physically more, but beyond 10 the quality deteriorates. The Actar-35 is also a good option, but this lens is a retrofit, meaning the client needs to send in his lens to us and we rebuild it. Nikon F lenses can also be used on the Actus/Nikon-Z combination. There won’t be any limitations in focussing to infinity, but in general the image circle of these lenses is too small to be of any use.

Q: 5. How does this differ from the Actus G? And would this work with the BMPCC6K Pro on the back? Thanks

A: Yes, you may need to be creative regarding mounting it to be sure it'll fit,. But you could use it with with the BMPCC6K Pro, yes. This and the Actus G are substantially the same but the B2 comes with the various camera mounts as currently shown (June 2021) on this webpage. The tilt, rail, and other adjustment abilities are the same.

Q: 6. Which of the following lenses would work with this body. I would use a Nikon D800 camera with it.Rodenstock Grandagon-N 75 mm f/4.5 .Rodenstock Grandagon-N 90 mm f/6.8 Rodenstock Apo-Sironar-S 150 mm f/5.6 Nikon Nikkor-w 210 mm f/5.6Fujinon Compact 300 mm f/8.5??

A: This camera is compatible with a variety of ACTUS-B lensplates.

Q: 7. Is there a way to use this with a Canon R5 and which lenses should be used?

A: Yes, you can use the Cambo ACTUS-XL-35 View Camera with the Canon R5 if you purchase this adapter: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1474739-REG Usually a medium format lens is used for example Hasselblad V mount lens or large format lens. The front lens adapter must be purchased separately.

Q: 8. which v-mount lenses is for macro and which one for wideangle photography i have nikon d800e please advice me for lenses and bellows?

A: The standard set of Actus Bellows should be perfect for you and your Nikon when using the Actus with the Hasselblad V lens-plate.

Q: 9. Will this focus to infinity with a Nikon Z body?

A: Yes, the Cambo ACTUS-G View Camera Body with 15mm Lens Kit for Nikon Z will focus to infinity on Nikon Z mount cameras.

Q: 10. Will this work with the Canon 6D? and will it work with my EF lenses, or would I have to purchase different lenses?

A: This Bayonet Mount kit would also be compatible with the Canon 6D. The Lensplates/mounts are sold separately, so you would need to purchase a Lensplate to use the Cambo ACTUS-B2. That being said, there is a Canon EF Lensplate, so you would be able to use your Canon EF lenses.

[Metal] I fiddled with tilt shift lenses for some time and was never completely happy with their performance. The Cambo Actus-G (BH# CAAGCBBK) is a much more flexible solution and is only a bit more expensive than some of the tilt-shift lenses. Of course you do need to buy a suitable lens with a large image circle. I'm using this with a Nikon F mount camera and a Mamiya RZ lens adapter. I already had the Mamiya lenses so it was a no brainer. It did take a bit of time to figure out exactly what other items were needed but essentially You'll need 3 other pieces besides the body. The lens plate. I suggest a medium format lens like the Mamiya RB/RZ lenses. BH# CALPMRBRZB, The camera bayonet holder (Cambo AC-78E) BH# CAOBHDSLR and the camera bayonet plate BH# CABKNF. This is a very flexible system and using the bayonet holder (AC-78E) you can get different plates for about $70 so I could add in a mirrorless body just with a new bayonet plate. I don't know if it's by accident or intentionally but the Actus-G molded packaging fits perfectly inside a Pelican 1300 case - BONUS!
This will also focus to infinity so it works fine for architecture as well as tilting or swinging the focal plane for product photography.

[Metal] My third one and the Cambo continues to impress. A solid solution that just works.
The many advantages become readily apparent the first time you use the CAMBO. Applicable for lights or camera mount. Especially beneficial for overhead flat shooting and lighting. Strongly recommended.

[Metal] you cant really appreciate this amazing boom arm till you actually use it. for any photographer who thinks that details make the difference this tool is an amazing thing to have , the ease of use compatibility and ergonomically design make your lighting shaping so much easy, precise and super fast , this tool eliminate the all obstacles and discomfort of tiding nobs and climbing, you literally do it with a tip of your finger and get a surgical precision....and YES .... 25 + pound of gear load as far as the price goes ,$400 and change , if you think about the fact that it cost about 150 dollars to get a regular boom arm ,matthews or avenger , for an extra $250 you getting a top notch tool that exceed the regular boom arm experience by light years . only thing that i found as a con is the weird glossy screaming red color in one of the elements ,i gaffed tape it in black ........ problem solved

[Metal] Absolutely love this piece of Cambo equipment... They've gone through this design from top to bottom and have created a platform that is essentially a genius solution to having the ultimate digital view camera for those of us who require such a technical approach to creating images. The build quality and precision are top notch - everything feels very well machined and well assembled. The multiple lens plates for lens manufactures such as Mamiya, Pentax, Hasselblad, Leica and their very own Actar series of lenses allows you to have many options when it comes to lenses.

At first, this system can be confusing with what lenses will work with what body or digital back, but once you get familiar with their lens chart, it starts to make sense as to what can be used. The lens chart, listed below, gives all the data necessary to make informed decisions. I will say, with Pentax 645 glass, the latest HD DFA lenses are made specifically for Pentax's digital medium format bodies, which require a much smaller image circle than Pentax's 645 film format. So the A and FA Pentax lenses are a better option if you require shifting/rise/fall movements.

All in all, I would highly recommend this system. If you need rear standard movements, Cambo has even more in depth models known as the Actus MV and Actus XL, which in my mind seems better suited for studio and product photography. Personally, I use this system for interior design and architectural photography and I must say: it's working better than any T/S lens - and I own and use some phenomenal T/S lenses, i.e., the 19mm, 24mm, 45mm and 85mm PC-e lenses from Nikon; these are outstanding lenses, but the Cambo allows me more freedom of movement, so this is why I made the switch from a pair Nikon D-850 bodies and said T/S lenses. Freedom!!!!! (of movement).

[Metal] The Sony A7 rIV is working nicely combined with Mamiya RZ lenses. Much less clumsy than the old Sinar P setup I was using. Now wanting the rear tilt accessory...

[Metal] This is my second Cambo Redwing Boom. I have the Standard and the Compact (with a 30 extension bar). One on a Matthews Jr. with wheels and the other on a Kupo Jr. with wheels. These are for me, the best, time saving and most flexible lighting placement solutions I have experienced. From table top products, to full length fashion in the studio or on location. From 6 foot soft boxes, to 7.5 foot Octoboxes, to heads with barn doors. You can roll your lights into position and adjust the light's position to almost any angle possible and quickly. The lights and their modifiers stay in position and can be moved as one wishes with the twist of the wrist or the lifting of an elbow. The boom deals with all the weight issues. Of course, you have to exercise caution when adjusting the boom arms counter weight and when attaching and removing the lighting equipment on and off it. I would also suggest a step ladder for this. I have really not tried them on a C stand but I did try a 6x4 foot soft box on a C stand briefly and it was holding up well. But sandbagging the C stand without wheels limits the overall movement in this case. The main question is, will you use it enough to justify the expense. If so, it should make your lighting life easier and remove unnecessary strain to your body.
