Boasting updated video capabilities and a refined design, the Panasonic Lumix GH5 II Cinema Kitprovides a professional-quality imaging platform for shooters who demand versatile video and stills capabilities in a single compact camera. Featuring a 20.3MP Live MOS sensor with AR coating, the camera records DCI and UHD 4K with the full sensor area and can output 10-bit 4:2:0 internally up to 60p, or 4:2:2 at 30p. The GH5 II offers unlimited video recording for less downtime when filming, and the camera ships with preinstalled V-Log L for multi-camera recording, making it easy to match the color tone with the footage recorded by other VariCam-series cameras. The included DMW-BLK22 battery provides approximately 410 shots per charge when using the rear monitor or electronic viewfinder, and the high-capacity battery can be quickly charged with the bundled USB 3.1 Type-C cable. You can also supply continuous power to the camera while shooting photos and video via the included USB cable.

A 3" 1.84m-dot rear TFT LCD monitor provides flexible framing, high visibility, and vivid color to support viewing from a variety of angles. An updated 5-axis sensor stabilization system works with Lumix O.I.S lenses to activate Dual I.S. 2 for highly effective shake correction. Previously limited to 5 stops of shake reduction, this now means you can compensate for up to 6.5 stops of shutter speed. A Depth-from-Defocus autofocus system benefits both still and video recording modes ensuring fast and precise focus. The GH5 II features human face, eye, head, body, and animal recognition. Deep Learning technology detects the eye and face approximately twice as fast as the GH5 allowing you to concentrate on the composition of your photos and videos. Designed for today's creators and audiences, the easy-to-use Lumix Sync app for smartphones and tablets provides high-quality livestreaming with minimum equipment. Livestreaming via a router is available as well with Lumix Network Setting Software. Whether indoors or outdoors, only the camera and a smartphone are required to reach an audience, making the GH5 II an ideal camera for electronic news gathering, travel, event, lecture, and live commerce applications.

Featuring a 20.3MP Digital Live MOS sensor with a newly developed AR Coating, the GH5 II boasts an evolved Venus Engine Imaging Processor. These updates suppress ghosting and flare in backlit scenes, offer a 25% increase in dynamic range, and improve color gradation and reproduction. Multipixel Luminance Generation technology maximizes sharpness and faithfully reproduces brightly illuminated scenes. It offers excellent three-dimensional color control and precise noise reduction techniques for shooting at sensitivities up to ISO 25600. It also enables shooting speeds up to 12 fps with AF-S or manual focus modes.

The GH5 II features outstanding video performance for professional videography and is capable of unlimited video recording in various settings. It can record DCI and UHD 4K 60p 4:2:0 10-bit and simultaneously output 4:2:2 10-bit over HDMI during 4K 60p 4:2:0 10-bit internal recording. An HDMI port is present on the camera for high-quality output for use with external monitors and recorders. The camera also offers high bit rate recording for highly detailed images free of compression artifacts.

For more advanced users, multiple picture styles provide two types of Cinelike gamma presets in the Photo Style. With these modes warm skin tones or delicate nuances of light and shadow can be reproduced without color grading over V-Log footage. The Cinelike D2 setting gives priority to dynamic range while Cinelike V2 prioritizes contrast. L. Monochrome S and L. Classic Neo have also been added, and all these modes can be used for anamorphic video recording.

The GH5 II is designed to be an expandable system, with multiple options available to help improve video recording capabilities. Examples of this are an optional XLR Microphone Adapter that provides XLR inputs and physical controls through a hot shoe connection. Users can also use standard microphones and headphones via the 3.5mm input and output jacks.

Designed for ENG, travel, event, lecture, and live commerce applications, the easy-to-use Lumix Sync app provides high-quality livestreaming with minimum equipment. Whether indoors or outdoors, only the camera and a smartphone are required. Livestreaming via a router is available as well with Lumix Network Setting Software. Additionally, wired USB-LAN IP livestreaming will be supported by a future firmware update.

Boasting a high-speed, high precision autofocus system, the GH5 II incorporates advanced deep learning technology to detect specific subjects including humans and fast-moving animals. Improved tracking performance quickly recognizes the face and eyes of moving subjects and the human body from a background of moving subjects. The camera keeps tracking the subject even if they move quickly, turn their back to the camera, tilt their head, or move far away. This contrast-detection type focus method benefits both still and video recording modes, as well as subject-tracking applications where color, size, and motion vectors are used to intelligently lock onto the moving subjects and ensure precise focus. Depth-from-Defocus technology offers lightning-fast calculation of spatial information making it possible to instantly and accurately capture your shots.

Helping to achieve the utmost sharpness when photographing handheld, an enhanced Dual I.S. 2 system combines the camera's sensor-shift image stabilization technology with lens-based image stabilization to compensate for a broad range of movement types and renders sharper, clearer imagery. Dual I.S. 2 requires the use of compatible Lumix lenses featuring O.I.S., and this updated stabilization system enables the GH5 Mark II to compensate for 6.5 stops of camera shake.

  • A large OLED Live View Finder has an impressive 3.68m-dot resolution and 0.76x magnification for eye-level composition.
  • A larger means for image composition and playback, the 3" 1.84m-dot rear TFT LCD monitor has a free-angle, tilt-and-swivel design to support viewing from a variety of angles. It is also a touchscreen, which permits intuitive menu navigation and settings control.
  • Dual UHS-II SD card slots provide settings such as Relay Recording to automatically switch cards when one is full; Backup Recording, which records the same data to both cards simultaneously; and Allocation Recording, which lets you save certain files to each card for easier organization.
  • Constructed from magnesium alloy with die-cast front and rear frames, the GH5 II features a durable design that also incorporates extensive sealing at each joint, dial, and button to render it both splash and dustproof as well as freezeproof to 14°F.

For instances where a very fast frame rate is needed in order to capture the best moment, 4K PHOTO lets you record 8MP stills at 30 or 60 fps, and 6K PHOTO provides 18MP stills at a 30 fps shooting rate. Both photo modes feature an unlimited recording time, and a pre-burst mode records images one second prior to and one second after pressing the shutter button, giving you up to 60 frames to choose from.

  • A mechanical focal plane shutter enables a fast maximum shutter speed of 1/8000 sec, as well as a top flash sync speed of 1/250 sec. An electronic shutter function also avails a top shutter speed of 1/16,000 sec to better enable working in bright conditions and with wider aperture settings.
  • Depending on the lens in use, the included DMW-BLK22 battery provides approximately 410 shots per charge when using the rear monitor or electronic viewfinder.
  • A trio of new Photo Style modes include L. Classic Neo for a film-like effect with a soft and nostalgic feeling, L. Monochrome S for black and white portraits with a gentle look, Cinelike D2 which prioritizes dynamic range, and Cinelike V2 for prioritizing contrast.
  • Preinstalled V-Log L for multi-camera recording and editing makes it is easy to match the color tone with the footage recorded by other VariCam-series cameras.

[TTL] Discovered the May 25 announcement and read some initial reviews (GH5M2 does accept the GH5 battery but with reduced runtime due to less power storage than new battery), but where to buy? With over two decades as a customer and former competitor there has always been one place to go; B&H Photo. The body/lens combo is an incredible deal. Thanks to B&H I received Lumix Pro Platinum Service ($199) free for the first year. The GH5M2 is an incredible digital imaging device. The downloaded user guide is 811 pages! As an old TLR medium format, Speedgraphic, Retna IIIC and Rolli 35mm to Olympus 1.3 Mpx and JVC miniDV shooter, the technology in my hands offers still and motion video creativity limited by the imagination. Combined with a popular 3-gimbal access, the opportunities soar. A statement about MFT certain to resonate.

[Magnesium Alloy] Nice upgrade. Buttery smooth stabilization and nice cinema camera for the money. Kit lens is decent.

[TTL] I moved to this kit from a relatively heavy DSLR setup. Two weeks in, enjoying it so far.

Using it in daylight is no problem. When the light goes down, I can only use it at f/2.8 on the wide end. This is to be expected, same as my DSLRs except with constant f/2.8 zooms.

Get a faster prime of your most used focal length, or a flash, if you use it a lot in low light, zoomed in.

[0 to 18 EV] Coming from a GH4. this was a HUGE upgrade.

More FPS
More resolution with anamorphic (up to 6k)
More slomo (From 96fpd to 180 fps read out)
More light sensinbility
More control over audio.
Better interface
Amazing connectivity for streaming.
Dark magic last longing batteries lol....

If you have a good invest on M43 lenses this an amazon upgrade even coming from the GH5/GH5S due price and interface/chipset upgrade.

GH6 will be around $700 more so that why we decide go to this.

If this is your first hybrid camera and you LOVE Panasonic, you should check first the S2 or so...

[2.8 lb] The autofocus is greatly improved without pulsing and hunting it can track faces with confidence. Also the dynamic range has been greatly improved and the image quality is dramatically improved in color science and jpeg rendering I would say they fixed all the shortcomings of the GH5 with the same dependability. If you are on the fence about upgrading buy this camera now it is amazing how they used the same sensor but with the new rendering processor have improved the image quality and usability greatly.

[14-Bit] this is our 4th GH5 from earlier model to this Mark ll. The improvement Lumix has made makes it our go to camera for beautiful cinematic imaging to photography as well. I have sold my G9 and now use this GH5 mark ll for both.
The gh6 is out but though there are a few nice perks there are a few that have been removed and we see no reason to go to a GH6.

[Yes] Bought this initially for the extra stabilisation since I mainly film aerial subjects. It turns out this is essentially a new camera as opposed to a GH5 upgrade and now I'm selling my GH5. Color science has improved, raw stills are now 14bit and Panasonic have added DR into the highlights creating much better roll-off and toning. Some of the profiles like L Neo Classic and Flat give interesting options especially in able to give a Kodak Portra look when printed on paper. Stills auto focus is lightening fast and looks very capable in video though I prefer manual. Excellent cammera and value.

[21 mm] I recently was looking to upgrade my camera and after much deliberation, review reading, I decided on this camera. It's feature-rich and comes highly rated for photo and video. I'm still learning all about what it can do, but so far am very pleased with the quality of construction and performance.

[1/250 Second] I've been looking for good quality and reasonable price and this is the one!

[PC Terminal] I bought into the Panasonic M43 ecosystem back with the release of the GH4. That camera served me well for 10 years as an A cam and still passes as a B cam on riskier doc shoots. Having regularly borrowed GH5 bodies from friends, I finally decided to purchase a new(er) gen camera. Even from the 5, the GH5MII is a noticeable improvement in quality and stabilization that will serve you well for the long run at a cheaper price - minus a few bells and whistles. Highly recommend.
