[1.8 lb] This gear is sturdy. Perfect fit for the BM Ursa Mini and cheaper than the Blackmagic version.

[1.8 lb] Purchased this to use with the Blackmagic 12K camera. It is relatively easy to install (be careful when removing the battery block), and the mounting bracket is sturdy and well made. The most critical point to remember is that the Recorder is entirely dependent on the SSD utilized. You can not just stick any SSD into the Recorder and expect it to record high-bandwidth 12K Blackmagic RAW files. Currently we are using the Samsung 983 DCT U.2 MZ-QLB1T9NE 1.92TB SSD - it has the speed necessary to keep up with 12K data. Overall the URSA Mini Recorder is a great accessory for the 12K camera, it is much better (and more economical) than having to shell out for C-Fast cards.

[Cage] BMD is going to love how their Ursa Mini Pro G2 is performing with the Add on SSD Recorder. Coupled with the Angelbird AV Pro 1Tb SSD, the attributes are many, and the problems, non existent from my experience. And the work flow integration, the cost savings comparatively to CFast Media, and the uninterrupted recording time, are all just so favorable. Yes, in absolute terms, the AV Pro Media SSD IS not inexpensive, by any stretch of the imagination. But when you move from raw dollar evaluation to the value of the overall contribution, it is making in so many various ways, there is no comparison in my perspective. The Anglebird AV Pro in tandem with the BMD SSD RECORDER, It is a a significant force that has been added to the Ursa Mini Pro 4.6K G2 Camera. I don’t see it every being taken off my camera.

[1.8 lb] Works great with UrsaMini 4.6k. When you use it, it discards the second CFast slot. Enables the first slot and the SSD drive. But you can connect the reader wheb you fill the two CFast and can record more footage. It drains a little more power so if not using it you should disconnect the cables to drain less power. I really like it and is a great option.

[1.8 lb] I have 8 of these 4 no longer work and 2 are only a few weeks old. I get drop frame alert, and then recording stops. Others it looks fine but I hit the stop record button and the time code stops but everything stays light red like recording and the units freeze up. Only way to fix is to shut off the camera but you will lose a chuck if not all of the ssd recording. We have also found the the camera looks like it is recording and when we check we see that the timecode has stopped and the recording has to. We did some test and it all comes down to the cable. They were load tested and ALL failed the needed data transfer speeds by 50 percent or more. They do not sell a replacement cable. Blackmagic will not send you one either. They also say it will ONLY work with the short cable that comes with it. NOT TRUE. It will NOT work with any other usb c cable, even the anglebird. BUT and here is the important part. It WILL work with the
Xcellon Thunderbolt 3 Cable (1.6', 40 Gb/s)
BH #XCTB354005 MFR #TB3-540-05 with o problem. We have tested over 40 hours, on everything from h264 to 6k blackmagic raw, many start and stops and full drive recordings with no issues. I as an engineer highly recommend this recorder BUT buy 2 and replace the original cable with this thunderbolt cable and you will not have issues.Hope this saves you tons of problems like we had.

[Cage] works great with the g2. its annoying to put on but once you do it feels secure and works perfectly. i wish they make the 12K recorder version work on the g2 because the sdi cables arent my favorite.

[Cage] You have to buy this, it works flawlessly with a great SSD. It will save you money. Very simple attaching this thing. Do not get suckered into buying a C-fast card. I have nothing bad to say about this. And it mounts on the back of the camera PERFECTLY. Very sleek.

[1.8 lb] Better solution that the Black Magic version

[1.8 lb] Before this came out I settled on two 128GB CFast 2.0 cards which are great but not ideal for my work. Paying for a 512GB CFast was just a pill I couldn't swallow, yes it's a good option but for that money I wanted something I can use if I moved away from BMD for what ever reason. I made the most out of filming 1080p Prores 422 LT and filming 4K on the job simply wasn't an option. The footage still looked incredible but I know the camera can do better. Now I can film 4K RAW DNG on weddings! The flexibility to recover some highlights, play with white balance in post, and have a better color science than Prores 422 is just incredible. Now that the Pro G2 is out I might get that next year or the next model and move this accessory to that camera.

[Cage] Only used on one project so far, but has made the camera more streamlined and helped with workflow.
