The HPE Networking Instant On 1830 switch features an 800 MHz ARM Cortex-A9 processor with 512MB of memory, 215MB of flash storage, and a 1.5MB packet buffer. It's designed to deliver smooth data transfers with a 104 Gb/s switching capacity and 77.37 Mpps forwarding rate.

The HPE Networking Instant On mobile app allows you to remotely configure, monitor, and manage your network switch without needing any additional hardware such as cloud keys or a VPN. You can also update firmware on your Instant On devices directly from the cloud, no matter where you are or what time it is.

This switch includes 24 PoE+ complaint ports with a 370W power budget. Features such as automatic power configuration and scheduling allow you to efficiently operate your connected devices.

The cloud-hosted web interface and mobile app make it easy to remotely manage multiple sites and multiple networks with distributed and multi-tenant deployments. Each site is logically separated and has its own configuration, statistics, guest portal, and admin read/write privileges. Instant On also allows you to create three admin accounts per site, offering the option to lock accounts from accidental deletion.

This switch supports up to 16 groups of eight network ports, which may be configured to form high-bandwidth connections to compatible devices.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this auto sense 48 volt POE devices also?

A: Yes, the Ubiquiti Networks EdgeSwitch ES-48-750W Managed PoE+ Gigabit Switches with SFP BH #UBES48750W has auto-sensing PoE.

Q: 2. I currently with this 8-port switch but need more than 8 ports (I need 12 ports). Which switch would be an appropriate upgrade?

A: The only Unifi options available with more ports are the Ubiquiti Networks UniFi 16-Port Managed Gigabit PoE Switch with SFP (UBUSW16POE) or the Ubiquiti Networks UniFi Managed PoE+ 16-Port Gigabit Switch with SFP - 150W (UBUS16150W).

Q: 3. I current own this switch but need a switch with more ports (I need 12 ports). Which model should I upgrade to?

A: You could simply add the same model to the current switch and network and double your ports. This is an example of a higher level switch with more ports: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1273932-REG/ubiquiti_networks_us_16_150w_us_unifi_switch_16port.html

Q: 4. Why can I see everything connected to this toughswitch like a hub instead of only the device on the port I am connected to? Is this actually a switch?

A: Please clarify your question. If you configure the ports to be on the same (or no) VLAN then you will see all devices on all ports.Switch works very well.

Q: 5. Does it have RADIUS auth option?

A: Yes, the Ubiquiti Networks ES-5XP EdgeSwitch XP 5-Port Advanced Gigabit PoE Managed Switch, B&H # UBES5XP, supports RADIUS authentication.

Q: 6. does this switch provide the power over Ethernet to your devices or does it just let it voltage pass through?

A: The switch gives you actual POE on any of the ports. You must enable the POE for the individual ports in the configuration. For instance, I use one port to connect/power a Ubiquiti NanobeamAC and another to connect/power a Ubiquiti Nanostation LOCO M5 (as AP) and the other ports I have disabled POE as they have not POE devices connect. A cool feature is besides the LAN activity led on each port there is a POE indicator LED. Hope that helps.

Q: 7. Do this switch require a Unifi Key?

A: The Ubiquiti Networks UniFi Switch Enterprise 48 48-Port 2.5Gb PoE+ Compliant Managed Network Switch with SFP+, B&H # UBUSWENPR48P, does not require a Unifi Cloud Key but it does require the Unifi controller software running on a computer or a server. The Cloud key is a dedicated "mini-computer" that can run this software.

Q: 8. Do you know if the AV Line M4250-10G2XF-PoE+ (GSM4212PX) will connect to my laptop at 2.5gbps using the SFP+ Port? Thanks!

A: Most laptops do not have SFP+ ports, but if you have a means to connect to the SFP+ port then you will be able to achieve speeds up to 10 gbps.

Q: 9. Is there a limited amount of Link Aggregation or LACP creations?

A: Netgear does not mention a limit for the number of LACP connections supported by the Netgear M4350-44M4X4V 48-Port Multi-Gig PoE++ Compliant Managed AV Network Switch. More information can be found here: https://bit.ly/42ssO9h

Q: 10. If I have 4 cameras coming in via NDI, this should power them and take 1 outbound ethernet to an NDI switcher and it will work?

A: It would depend on the power consumption, NDI version, resolution and frame rate. Considering the 240W PoE+ power budget and max wattage of 30W for PoE+ devices, the Netgear AV Line M4250 GSM4212PX 8-Port Gigabit PoE+ Compliant Managed AV Switch with SFP (240W) should provide enough power for the cameras. Bandwidth would be the biggest issue. If you are using full Bandwidth NDI, transmitting 4K signal at 60 FPS from each camera, your Ethernet connection going to the NDI switcher may not have enough bandwidth for all 4 signals. If you are using lower bandwidth NDI such as HX3 or a lower resolution, such as 1080p, your single Etherenet connection to the NDI switcher should be sufficient.

[512 MB] Vey easy to set up.
I Was skeptical when I realized it was made by HP, BUT it is well made, packed with features and works well with others. I split some of my security load between this and my new router.

[Yes] Our company was moving to a new location and moving to IP Phones. To make life simpler I wanted a POE switch. I always used HP Office Connect SMB switches and these are the successors. The 1960 switch was easy to set up and manage with the associated app. It easily handles the traffic and power needs. I checked other resellers but B&H was the only place that had them in stock. They also had a very competitive price. I was able to order it and get it second day air. Everything went off without a hitch. They will definitely get first shot for any tech purchases I make from now on.

[104 Gb/s ] The Ubiquiti / Unifi 48-Port Gbps PoE managed switch is so easy to install, even cavemen say its easy! No serious networking skills required to install. Just have a basic knowledge of network fundamentals, know where your feed is from your broadband modem/router is, plug it in and hang your devices from it. This is even better if you have Ubiquiti UniFi AP AC PRO (PoE) 802.11ac Scalable Enterprise Wi-Fi Access Points wired to the switch so you can easily manage your wifi access points. The 48-Port Gb PoE switch is managed by downloading the Unifi Network Server software which by plugging-in your laptop's ethernet port to a port on switch and then running the software lets you adopt the managed switch, then adopt the access points (AP), assign them wifi names and select which AP gets all or specific wifi access which you can control guest and private access points. Ubiquiti has a long history of producing GREAT products and online support videos and tutorials for everyone to follow and figure out in minutes/hours based on your knowledge and skills. GET THIS SWITCH for current and future networking needs!

[14.47 lb] I bought this as a supplement to a 1930 48-Port switch when I realized I was almost out of ports. Setup is super easy and the user interface is great. Setting up a guest network is a breeze. No issues so far.

[16K] I got this switch and 2 AP-22's. I have one AP-22 running POE at the switch and the other is plugged in upstairs. I also have several PC's plugged directly into the switch

Wi-Fi 6 is great and this switch is rock solid. The only time it's offline is when it's rebooting from a scheduled update (usually Sunday at 2am) or when the power has gone out.

The app to control it all is easy to use and gives me quick control of the guest network.
