Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this unit work with any sort of Cloud interface where it can receive a signal from NDI sources in a completely different location? (Similar to Birddog Cloud)

A: no this converter will only work with NDI locally

Q: 2. Does this unit have Image flip...I only see Mirror in the menu?

A: We have not seen an "image flip" option on this device.

Q: 3. Can the port LEDs be turned off to save of the cost of useless light solution?

A: Yes, the port lights for the Ubiquiti Networks Pro Max 16-Port 2.5G / 1G Managed Network Switch can be customized or disabled.

Q: 4. I'd like to output a Transparent lower thirds image from my computer via NDI, will this device receive the keyed image via NDI and pass it along via the HDMI going into my ATEM?

A: NDI does support Alpha channel keying. The Magewell Pro Convert NDI to HDMI Decoder would work.

Q: 5. How do you access the settings of the device?

A: The unit is driven by a web end-user interface.

Q: 6. Does this decoder need a static IP or will work with dongles with dynamic IP - if yes what latency would be expected?

A: The JVC BR-DE900 ProHD IP Decoder (B&H# JVBRDE900) will use a static IP address. While many factors can affect latency, with respect to the decoder itself, the manufacturer only states that it minimizes the decoding process cycle, adding 1.5 seconds to whatever other factors may be present.

Q: 7. Can I use this to get an NDI signal from my iMac and convert it to an HDMI signal to my BMD switcher to run lyrics on my livestream?

A: As long as the software you are using for your lyrics supports an NDI output signal through your iMac, this device should work to decode it into an HDMI video signal for us with a Blackmagic Switcher.

Q: 8. Is this product compatible with the NDI-HX protocol?

A: No this device only supports NDI. it does not support the HX version of NDI

Q: 9. Does the USW-PRO-MAX-48 (not the POE version) have any fans (is it fanless)?

A: The Ubiquiti Networks Pro Max 48-Port 2.5G / 1G Managed Network Switch (non-PoE) is fanless.

Q: 10. Can this upscale a 1080p30 NDI feed into a 4k29.97 hdmi output?

A: Yes it can.

[1x HDMI Female] The unit arrived quickly and was pretty much plug and play - just wish the rack mount was available with the unit. This replaces and older PoE switch that was failing.

[PoE 802.3af] Almost any camcorder produced before 2018 doesn't have NDI capabilities but with the addition of the Birddog Mini, you can make a leap into the world of networked video without any heavy lifting.

Excellent choice for any church or school that needs to stream video but doesn't want to incur the cost of wiring for video. Any HDMI source can be plugged into the Mini and using a local network, connected to a computer with a streaming application such as vMix or OBS. No capture card necessary - it just works.

This is a device that needs to be in the toolbox of any serious videographer.

[10 to 90% ()] In remodeling my home, I wanted to synchronize one pair of TVs (Master Bedroom and Master Bath) and one triple of TVs (Kitchen, Family Room and Sun Room) to eliminate audio echoing between connected rooms. Each group is fed by the HDMI output of one cable box. I was told by my local A/V company that this was risky because of the +60 cabling distances required and the load on the cable boxes. I installed one Kramer 1:2 Distribution Amplifier and one Kramer 1:3 Distribution Amplifier. Cable runs were in made in-wall using 3 Kramer 66 Optical HDMI cables. Results? Perfection!

[ 6 W] This is a fantastic switch. Does exactly what it claims. Fast speeds, and the ability to identify ports using the LED lighting is a very cool and useful feature. I would recommend this wholeheartedly, and will be buying more when needed.

[PoE 802.3af] Bought one to test and found it easy to setup and reliable in operation. Have ordered 5 more for my system. I've had good luck with Magewell products and this one looks to continue that experience.

[1x HDMI Female] Installed a pair of these to transmit to a projector up on the ceiling. POE made it all quick and painless. The unit at the projector is set to recieve from the other unit which can be plugged onto the network from any location around the stage, booth, or the rest of the facility for that matter. Easy for presenters to just plug on and present without fighting the technology.
